Rotarys can handle turbos just fine, it just depends whether or not they decide to go the crap cheap route for apex seals like they usually do. Go ahead and look at the prices for aftermarket apex seals, not exactly cheap.

If i'm not mistaken it's an optional R3 package shown in the video. I've had a glance at 'normal' 2009 rx-8 and it looks much more balanced and a lot more like current edition. A few cool touches inside and outside that you don't notice at first, but together they make a prettier car. I'm serious about buying a 2009 model and what was shown in Detroit worried me at first, but then I came across a standard version and I'd say it looks better than previous in every aspect.

i am interested in buying one..maybe an 06+ model, but have herd stories of good and bad. One guy said he had to add oil every 1,000 miles, another guy said he added a small mini cup of oil, this guys engine was replaced twice, and this guy has one with 76,000 miles. can anybody tell me if you drive "normally..obeying speed limits and often reving it up" what the relibaility would be? i love the shape, design, but worried its going to be a headache in the long run. I dont plan on abusing one.

They are quite reliable aslong as you keep up the maintenance.Like check oil if your going on a long drive check all the liquids.Keep it serviced and tuned to manufacture specification,and you won't have any problem.

Mazdaspeed 3 has a turbo and 30 more horses. It is also much lighter with a more aggressive tranny. You put a turbo on the rotary and I guaratee those words eaten.

I like the tail lights. That is one item I will add to my 07 RX8. the headlamps are fine, I like my 07's more. About the front spoiler, I still like the 07 more, the 09 is a little overboard, and it looks big, not good when parking. All I want is the tail lights, I never liked the chromed tail lights all auto brands force fed to customers, I find chromed tail lights ghetto. The new 09 tail lights will do!

Hey guys. I work for Power Mazda and have some info for you: The RX-8 2009 has a 1.3L RENESIS 2-rotor rotary engine and will be available in the short throw 6 speed manual and in the 6 speed auto-manual. It comes with all the modern conveniences, including bluetooth and remote keyless entry. Also new is a carbon fiber drive shaft that ups the performance to the rear wheel drive of this beast of a sports car. It also has nearly 50/50 weight distribution for even better handling!
