Does DFU MODE restore everything but keeps all ur music an apps

So I Used Redsn0w and I want to un jailbreak it and just restore everything to factory settings. I followed everything to the point where I Option + click "restore". Yet, the same message pops up saying "this ipod could not be restored. It is not eligible for requested build."

Did I do something wrong? For some reason for me its so difficult just to restore after jail breaking.

Steps1: plug your device to iTunes or pc

Steps2: turns off your device ( hold power button)

Steps3: hold power and home button

Steps4: when the apple logic gone release power but hold home

Steps5: wait until iTunes expect the device then let go of home.

dude is the the cord for the ipt4 different than the ipt3 because on my ipt4 it goes into dfu mode but when i try to put the ipt3 in dfu mode using the cord for the ipt4 it just reboots

So then I try turning the custom wallpaper option off in winterboard. The springboard re-starts, and its still the same. So i remove winterboard through cydia and nothing. Next I decided to install the new update from apple (4.0), because I knew it would un jailbreak my ipod and maybe fix the problem. It says I cant, so i try to restore and it says there is a problem with the software or something like that. So i google on how to un jailbreak it. I come to this, but i cant put ipod into DFU mode

I clicked on the upgrade all button, as you do, and when its finished i click the reboot button, the only option. So thats all fine, and then I unlock it when it turns back on, and my wallpaper has changed, not the one at the lockscreen, but the one behind the springboard. So i go to photos to change it, but when i click set wallpaper it stays the same
