I'm glad to see you included both Roth and Hagar era songs. At first I wasn't cool on Hagar replacing Roth but Hagar proved himself with both great lyrics and licks; he rocks on the guitar, something Roth never did, but I think Roth was more of the VH signature vocal.

Great list.Love every song on it But I never understood what all the fuss is about (Roth vs Hagar). I don't think it matters much who is singing, Roth, Hagar, or that other guy... You'll still hear a great song. Now, I'm not trying to piss anyone off, but... to the Roth era fans, it was NOT Roth that made those songs great! And the Hagar era fans, same thing. What made VH great has always been Eddie(though I prefer Sammy over David and that other guy). I'm just saying w/o Ed, we all lose.

@perks1964 actually I've been a VH fan since 1980 or 81 can't remember exactly. I bought my first VH record(tape actually) in 1983. I was 12 years old and in the 7th grade. I had all the previous ones but Diver Down was the first one I bought on my own. My peewee football team's end of the year trip was to Maui and our flight home was delayed, anyway I found it in one of the shops at the airport and bought it w/my last $12.

@perks1964 Oh, and another about that night our flight was delayed... The Georgetown Hoyas basketball team who were in town playing in the Maui Classic also had there flight delayed. While running around the airport(which is what little boys do) we ran into them and met the team and Patirck Ewing and both our teams posed for a group photo and was published in the Georgetown newspaper, at least that's what the guy told us(I think he was the PR guy). Relavence... none, but kinda cool huh?

But I still prefer Sammy Hagar as the lead singer of Van Halen rather than David Lee Roth. I might even prefer Gary Cherone before Dave, although I havn't fully gathered my thoughts on that yet. Point is, the guy that I am listening to is Eddie(Mike & Al also).

They are known and played a lot for a reason. They're great songs. In my opinion there is not a bad VH song, some are just known and played more than others, but not everybody forgets those other songs. :)

music isn´t about what is known or mainstream and what is not. it´s about feelings. i KNOW that jump is not musically the best song from van halen, but listening to it reminds me of times when i was younger listening to it and allways having a good time. hearing the song now brings up the emotions of a time when nothing was wrong and everything was perfect. THAT´s what music is about, and why it CAN be the best song ever. you listened to different songs and now like them better.everyone is right
