  • the switch is the standard 5/3 switch found in minn kota motors.

  • do you have problem with aqua signal el. plug?my is melting insight since its not ment for more then 20amps.did you come with new idea for plug?

  • What switch did you use there? Is it completely waterproof?

  • @noimad4

Did you get an answer on the switch that was used?

  • Very Very nice!! I plan on doing the same type of steering system on my commander 120 just hand controlled instead of foot pedals. Very nice boat tho my dad has a Ultimate 12 and its awesome!!!

  • Nice cigarette, dude.

  • Great job you did!!!

  • Great video! I have just bought a kayak, and I want to motorrize it, your video just gave me a lot of ideas! Thanks!!! :-)

  • Look's cool, I'm thinking about putting a trolling motor on a 12' kayak commander 120. Don't know if I will mount it on the bow or stern. What do you think?

  • Stern mount is easier to deal with trust me.

  • 40 lb. Minn Kota Endura , did you have to alternate it to control it behind your seat or did it come already like that ? I'm trying to do the same set up but can't figure out what motor to use and how to rig the electrical ? ( Awsome job by the way ! )

  • Buy a motor, take it apart, see and understand how it works, then modify to suit your needs.

Don't be scared, its just a trolling motor!

  • @FLKayakAngler

I'm doing the same thing to my kayak ,but I can't figure out the switch you used.I tried the top of the motor ,but it was too bulky.

  • Very clean setup. Thanks for sharing.

  • Really nice setup! good gob>

I need your advice please, i have X-13 Malibu Kayak, and i am not sure whats the best Trolling motor i have to use, can you please advice me which (Model, Brand, Speed, Weight)?

    Thanks,

    Fad

  • I would use the same setup I've got. A 40lb Minn Kota Endura. You can get them Cheap on Ebay, half the cost of the Saltwater version so if It breaks just go buy another.

  • Thats a really clean setup! Good job.

  • do you recemend the 40 pound thrust

i have a tarpon 160 16 foot and im trying to choose what pound thrust to get

  • The 40 pound is nice for my 12 footer, but I would think if I had a 16ft boat I would step up to a 55lb thrust.

  • thank you

    you made up my mind

  • is that just a car battery? i am trying to set up my boat with a trolling motor and i dont now if you can just use a car battery

  • yes you can i have a 14ft boat that i troll for trout and bass and i use 2 car batteries in series.

  • You Want use to Deep Cycle battery. Car batteries cannot stand up to the abuse of being drained below 20% every trip and still take a full recharge.

  • looks like you copied the Bassyaks bracket, why is the throttle behind you and the cable outlets are in the waterline

    GOOD LUCK

  • Cable outlets are no where near water line, throttle behind me is what makes most sense to me, out of the way but still very reachable. It also kept the electronics at highest point inside the hull of the boat to keep them dry. As far as the bracket, I used the existing holes and thats how the bracket works, bass yaks is way to pricey.

  • sweet man i have the same yak but not with the foot steering, mines a little older but the same native watercraft. i have the same camera too, olympus stylus 1030?

im going to do this to my yak but i just gotta figure out how to make the steering simple and the pick up and drop simple.

  • I liked your video -looked like you were moving pretty well in the water at the end of the video. what body of water was that?

  • location was nortern Indian River lagoon, East Coast Fl.
