This song perfectly shows god's cruelty that he isn't what his image is (as in christian god). ''Run thru the city and kill everyone inside'' and the conflict between the men and god ''She says, father am I not your own?'' and then she is answered by death, by the great tyrant and the liar of the skies. In my opinion describes the Middle Ages perfectly.

I think that this song is lyrically Virgin Steele's greatest master piece, I am completely blown away by this. And I actually once thought that this album wasn't so good, but after hearing it more than just a few times and reading the lyrics carefully, I fell in love with this album. It took me a while too to notice how good the melodies actually are... They have improved so much and gained so much exerience through all these years that they have been able to master their sound perfectly.

The way I see it everyone is entitled to their opinion, but for some people to say Virgin Steele have put out a "bad" album.... I really don't know. Maybe they should stop comparing and try listening closer...

@jsadramelch I have ALL of their albums and they have done so much of different things through their history. Starting from Visions Of Eden they changed their style for softer, artlike and more progressive not so straight metal. This is far from bad. Far from mediacre. When I got this album I listened it for three times nonstop and yes I am impressed. Over 20 years old band shouldn't just stuck onto one way of making music.

Virgin Steele started to kick massive ass when they released ''The Marriage of Heaven and Hell part 1'' until ''The House of Atreus Act 2''. This new album is mediocre I think. A couple of decent songs, but just too many flaws.
