  • I mame across a GREAT deal on a CANON XTI outfit for a super price!, MY issue was viewing subject matter in the REAR display screen as well as through the prism finder., I was pleasantly surprised that the XTI requires a FLASH CARD instead of an SD card,, indicative of upper -end DSLR's

  • Hey, I just got this camera and am trying to figure it all out. Is there a 400 and a 400D model? In the manual and in your video it shows in the menu a "camera icon 1" and a "Camera icon 2". I only seem to show just the one. Also, I do not have the Raw option which you talked about. Not sure if I'm missing something simple. Thanks.

  • why doesn't my camera have the raw mode? I have the exact same camera but the raw mode is not there. Thank you for posting this it was very helpful.

  • Thanks for that big help

  • it wud be better if you speak louder, you are the only one who can hear of what you were saying.

  • @shanefever2004 I'm sorry you could not hear but this is the first complaint I recieved. Might sound simple but did you turn your speakers up?

  • @pokerjk the music at the end scare me

  • Whats up. I bought my Digital Canon KIss X/ 400 D in 2009 while in Korea and I was wondering if you know a way to easily clean the (inside) view finder thing.... It's like a white screen just inside the veiw finder. It's ridiculously annoying. I'm just starting out with this. Thanks for the vids.

  • @jmonie02 For removing dust or other minute particles get yourself a can of compressed air, it works wonders.

  • i followed your construction and it was very helpful thanks so much

  • When i go to take a picture it acts like it took it just like yours did in this video but when i go to display the picture it doesnt show?

  • @missladibby You probably don't have a memory card inserted :)

  • can you record video with this camera?

  • @KillaCal You can't with the Canon 400D, I believe in the xxx range it is the Canon 500D you would need to record video.

  • why does this video stop at 9:00?

  • @hpdka No problem here, check your connection.

  • is there a way to turn the desplay screen on while taking a picture

  • @fastcater85 the reason this happens is because the camera has a sensor that turns off the screen when you put your face near the prism. This is to stop any miscalculation in exposure.

  • @fastcater85 i think there isn't.... I've been searching for that live mode too....

  • can you make a tutorial on hdr photos?

  • @myPETsnailFRED

Shall be adding one to my blog shortly about different techniques including HDR.

  • hey i just bought a canon rebel xs.. and it says no card.. after i take pictures.. i haven't put a memory card yet.. i still need to buy it.. doesn't it have any memory on its own??? like for a few pics like other digi cams??

  • Im afraid it does not have any built in memory.

Best to get a memory card quickly :)

  • No it doesnt. When I got mine I thought the same thing, but it has no internal memory

  • Glad it helped you out :)

Also thanks for taking a look at my gallery.

  • Thanks Jamie! Even though iv had my Canon 400D for over a year now, lol the basic guide u showed was very helpful! However I have along way to go to better my photos! I just checked out ur gallery, ur photos are amazing, well done!! The sky in the Cardiff Harbour image is beyond words!!

  • The Canon 400D does not have live view available I'm afraid.

    Jamie

  • hey how do i get it to be on live view?

  • Once you are comfortable with ISO, Shutter speed and aperture settings manual would be.

Other wise I would use aperture priority. With a average f number (f8-f11) so everyone is in focus. Make sure the shutter speed is less than 1/60th of second for minimal camera shake (unless using a tripod). If it is longer than that higher the ISO a little.

    Or auto..

    Hope that helps you.

  • hey thank you for this helpfull video, could you please tell me what is the best mode or setting to be used indoor for taking a picture of many people at the same time???

    Thank you in advance,,

  • about the the RAW thing , it is better to have it that way ?????????

  • It is for the majority of situations.

  • is this one rebel xti cuz i have one , and it doesnt say 400d

    ?????

  • The XTI is referred to as many names. Primarily the 400D in America Rebel XTI and in Japan Kiss Digital X

  • hi. any idea what mode to use when doing a night time landscape shot? do i use the flash or take it off? for example if i wanted a nice shot of big ben

  • For this no flash and you will need a fairly long exposure.

If you don't want to use manual mode use P mode. This well set the exposure and aperture for you according to the lighting. If you want more in focus you will have to have a lower fstop number which means higher actual number as they are the opposite, but this will results in longer exposure. You will need a tripod for best results.

    Hope that helps,

    Jamie

  • Thanks for this video.. Quite interesting and also a detailed explanation on what the buttons on the camera mean! Thanks a lot. :)
