To think of all those men and women who have served in the name of my country, of happiness of life, liberty and the pursuit , is a touching thing that we, a nation celebrate once a year in November-- Veterans day. But to me it means thinking about the care and respect we provide for those who fought for us over the years. I just got back from basic training, I know it's nowhere near to being down range but when you're only 17 and have never stayed away from family as long as we had to, it's hard. My unit is supposed to get deployed to Korea here in the next two years, so wish me luck.

When my father served in WWII, he lived for the letters from my mother. My oldest brother was just over 1 year old and my Mom was pregnant with my sister. When he served in Korea, there were 4 kids. When my two oldest brothers came back from Vietnam, they told me that getting letters and recordings made life bearable. Read some letters from the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Letters from home -- they're an anchor to the real world.

My husband died in war, he was suppose to come home in 2 wks to see his baby girl be born after 13 miscarriages and he never made it home.My daughter will never know her daughter, but he was an angel he fought for us and our way of life I miss him everyday especially when I pick up my lil girl and see his face in her.So don't take things for granted you never know when your true love will be gone, and to the Soldiers thank you and to the families I feel your pain but just think about the future

My husband died in war, he was suppose to come home in 2 wks to see his baby girl be born after 13 miscarriages and he never made it home.My daughter will never know her daughter, but he was an angel he fought for us and our way of life I miss him everyday especially when I pick up my lil girl and see his face in her.So don't take things for granted you never know when your true love will be gone, and to the Soldiers thank you and to the families I feel your pain but just think about the future

@qclocal My husband is currently serving in afghanistan this is our 2nd deployment I couldnt imagen my husband not coming back expecially when we have a 2 year old. I am so sorry and i know sorry is not gonna help or make anything better but there will never be words that will heal the pain you feel. Yesterday many soldiers came hm from overseas. I did see a few soldiers cry and it made me want to cry becuz they were fighting for our freedom and they were finally hm and happy to be hm. Thank you to all of our soldiers and glad to have you hm James
