In personal opinion, I think the storyline is when Hidan first joined Akatsuki. Like, Kakuzu was sent out to find Hidan, and his way of knowing whether or not it was him was to be brutal, and obviously if Kakuzu was able to kill him, it wasn't the guy. But turning out to be immortal, he know's it's the 'Hidan' he was sent to get, and is intruiged with the thought of another immortal like himself, to spend eternity with. (Keep in mind that I could be completely wrong, I can't read it either)
