hey, i just found your vids today, saw the decade of scrapheap tribute on sunday, and i have to say i think im gonna go out and get as much of it as i can on dvd. i watch it a lot and hope to do so in the future! HINT C4! heh. all the best!
well thats another 2700ppl rob lol, i pray it doesnt EVER finish, and yeah it is a nice day, oh and ive been to loch lomand.....to lock ness from exeter na dback 1262miles in 23 hours
Am I detecting a conspiratorial undertone to this clip?? The new show starts (started?) 4/11 and the clip length is 4:11. Hmmm...
To be serious, my 3 year old son and I LOVE Scrapheap Challenge, or the "Car Show" as he calls it. We never miss it here in Australia on ABC2 although we are watching old series. I love it so much, I've recently bought myself a MIG welder so I can fashion my own "scrap". Just subscribed to the channel and keep up the great work.
I'm currently watching it on ABC2 also. I love the fact that ABC are showing it from the start, series after series with no ads! It's so totally perfect!
I know, how good is it? Just watched the Barley Pickers tear their way to victory tonight in their jet propelled ripper. I think so far, out of all the teams, I think their ingenuity and ideas are by far the best. My jaw was left hanging when they built their hydraulic excavator out of a truck axle and some old rams. Amazing stuff.
How long did it take you to film all the little inserts? What did you do, put your camera by the side of the road, back up and then drive past it again? That's serious dedication to YouTube. :)
Not long now until the wonderful welly-wanging! Shall look forward to that one. T'was a good day. Can't believe my vid of the event has had almost 5000 views! Am also looking forward to series 10, especially the roadshow at Wroughton. Scrapheap utterly rocks! Rob - you rock too! xxx
Have really enjoyed some off your pieces to camera especially the piece in the woods. Some informative stuff ie long tail outside of 'in the footsteps of Alexander',Chaplin some Buster Keaton and those bloody funny football cock up clips your putting on some good stuff, nice one.
i think that a show on being self relient,or something related to gadgets invented by the average person.
oh by the way, using a carwash is not a new thing as it is cleaning off dirt from car already owned by person using said carwash so no cheating took place. see ya, Chris.
I would like to add that no getting your car cleaned was not "buying something new" because you have not actually gained anything materialistic and it was simply maintenance. It would have been dangerous to drive home all that way not being able to see out of the rear of the car. So, you have not cheated!
Good news,I have SHC on Discovery channel here in Holland they usually screen new series,I personly think it is lazy maintenance, but in regards to the time of year,Sundays are better spent in the warm.+ I've not cleaned my car in or out since i bought it! {2yrs}. It belongs in the SHC show. Ha Ha Reliable Junk is a bonus.
Not the Republic of Ireland!! (Which is south...I am in Dublin) I know I have looked for it all over the band widths and cant find a sausage... You can get E4 on sky..but that is it! :¬D
LOL, we dont use cable, did use Sky but honestley we dont get it where we are... hey we dont even get all the normal Irish channels.. we joke and say that we get 2.5 channels..which are, rte, rte2 and cg4 (which is very hazy) :¬D I shall have to plague my friends who have cable then! :¬D
May scrapheap last forever! :) This show has inspired me to use junk and scrap I find, for other uses. At the moment I'm rewinding by hand, the coils of an old washing machine motor for use in an electric powered trike. Rest of the trike is from scrap too.
sorry too get off topic, but robert did u get out of the car setup the camera (off the road obviously) start filming, run back to the car and drive past the camera, stop the car, run back for camera again, all for a good beginning and ending drive by?... thats devotion sir, good on you :), of course if im wrong im sorry
WONDERFUL! So I can look forward to more series of scrapheap coming to our TVs soon. I am as happy for you as I am for still having the show as a part of my viewing experience. May the show go on and on and the ideas get more and more creative and fun.
I think I've only seen up to about the fifth series. Sadly I only get it once it's syndicated - but I am happy to know I've got years more to see. That "Utter Scrap" comment just cracked me up!
Obviously a car wash isn't buying something new, the waters been round for eons and is definitely second hand and it was poowered by electricity generated using oil or coal which are basically second hand remnants of long dead creatures.....not whether you got away with the carbon footprint though which i am concerned about as they are a bugger to get out of the carpet
So, how worried were you that someone was going to nick your camera whilst you drove through the ford?
Yep, washing a car is maintenance not a purchase (health and safety sub-clause). I'm just wondering which hi-def games console I should get (purely maintenance as my old one is quite dusty).
Hmmm. Perhaps there's something there for the book; 5 stages of self-gratification through shopping. Stage 2: starting to refer to perfectly adequate and fully functioning kit as "my old one".
New scrap that sounds good. It was a family treat last time to sit and eat in front of the TV, we may just resurrect that tradition. Car wash essential safety not frivolous treat. Cheers, Lesley
.. maintaining is not "cheating", it keeps things running, rather than you rusting your car.. if that's what you need to do, and in your case, it probably was "accident prevention" as well, seeing that you couldn't see out of your back windows!!
love the videos...the drive looked very nice...good luck on more scrapheap...i don't think washing your car was buying something new...environmentally speaking it should have been handwashed with biodegradable natural soaps with collected rainwater...but a bit impractical for most I'd say.
Cant Wait!! One of the best shows on TV.
A real combination of Niche and Family entertainment.

LOL!!
Well, what I was taught about cars is, dirt is abraisive, not washing it off damages your paint and accelerates the deterioration of your vehical.
And, knowing how much water I waste to wash by hand, the controled water use of a car wash would probably be far better.
So, you preserved the enviroment by both extending the life of your vehical and by using a reduced amount of water in doing so!

I imagine C4 likes this series as you can make them cheaply and quickly. Which seems to be the prerequisite to television worldwide.
