The songs from this movie. Take me back to the 70's. Awkward teen years, for a skinny black kid living in the city projects. Who felt he didn't belong in such ugly bleak surroundings. I bought barbra Streisand records and listened in secret. But these songs mark a turning point in my life when I made the decision to take my life in a different direction rather than being a product of my inviroment. I've loved Ms Streisand through out those awful years and her music is still a part of my life .

@waynegreer72 I am in awe of your honesty to tell your story. While my life was different; plump white teenage girl, living in middle class Australia - I also felt I didn't belong anywhere. But I believe like you, Streisand became my escape and my inspiration.

30 years on, her songs still move me in the same way. Her music makes me glad and makes my heart soar.

It's about Her character in the film, Ester thinking, she can have it all and mold into something into something that is perfect........Unfortunately as in life Ester learns the ultimate life lesson by the films end......People don't change and everything is a big price to pay.
