  • @YouKnowIt1330---in the beginning, Layne says "sure god is all powerful, but does he have LIPS?" WHOA....just thought I would let you know!

  • "As long as Alice in chains lives on so will Layne, because Alice was Laynes."

  • Escalofriante interpretación vocal de Layne

  • When a song sounds better live then in the cd I just have to say that: this is a great band. All bands like Peal jam, alice in chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Queen, The who, etc are bands where we can find great perfomances live much better than in a cd. Not like the shit music made this days that they just do some playback in live perfomances. Fuck them all!!!

  • o.0 chuggy metal. oh yes.

  • I think alot of you are missing the the most importaint message "God might be all powerfull but does he have a riff". The songs method is the crazy crunchy low and slow heavy guitar riff that you don't hear in most grunge or for that matter any rock songs for the time or to this day.I love it for its complexity truly a original

  • Why not appear mike inez in this video?

  • love the message, i used to question god too. STRONG PERFORMANCE!

  • i like the camera angle to the right of layne right next to him why is there no footage of that anywhere

  • Layne was cooler than James Dean. Layne was the rebel without the cause!

  • Qe rifff de fuder esse

    Jerry é foda

  • As great as they were as a live band, it don't compare to the intense sonics of the albums with Layne's overdubbed vocals and Jerry Cantrell's multilayers of guitars.

  • sean kinney is a beast

  • He was in shitty shape back then... but he still pulled off one hell of an effort... This dude killed with his vox .

  • damn! that's the most motherfucking underrated song in the history of mankind!!

  • His voice is so fucking raw and beautiful here. It's less polished than the vocals on the album version. I think it gives the song more depth live. Also, Jerry's guitar is spot on here. They were so unpredictable back in the day. I saw them recently...not the same.

  • no secret that jerry is and always has been the brains... and the new guy's really good... but it'll never be the same!

  • @SoonerPride01, i was bout to call you every name in the book for making that smart ass comment to myjarofflies. but then i realized your screen name. its not your fault, your a sooner you cant read. he said glad they revived him.

  • I really hate bootlegs, but this was done well. One of my fav songs, too.

  • @73gears

How can you hate bootlegs? Bootlegs keep fans going.

  • @73gears this isn't a bootleg. This is on the live album. Straight from the soundboard.

  • Simply Bad Ass.

  • such an incredible powerful voice layne had.

  • so fucking good....

  • May You Float On My Friend.... On The Wings Of All The Angels Of All The Grateful Souls Your Life Touched In Your Short Time Here. May You Forever Rest In Peace My Friend>> Mr Michael Christopher Starr . Thank You. He Has Called You To Continue The Healing That You Deserve. You Have Arrived. .. ... ... Was , Am , And Forever Will Be Inspired By You. Again ..Thank You. Can Hear You And Layne Just Jammin Out , Man

  • BROTHER LAYNE THAT CROSS WAS HEAVY I KNOW... CHRIST COULDNT HAVE CARRIED IT WITH THE HEART, TRUTH, GRACE AND COURAGE AS YOU DID. YOU ARE MISSED. YOU ARE STILL HERE.

  • Best Band Ever

  • This music and band are so epic. Realize that nothing will ever come along along the lines of alice in chains again. Cherish this shit.

  • it looks like mike inez is on double speed...

  • CAN YOU FEEL LAYNE´S GOD AM?

  • "Guys be quiet for a minute, this is serious!"

  • Is the last show.. Layne's voice is legendary!!

  • Layne stayleys voice is legendary

  • poor layne, he died right after he got off the plane back to seattle after this preformance. good thing he was revived.

  • @MyJarOfFlies Where'd you hear that?

  • @MyJarOfFlies Good thing he had Second Chance Pro

  • @MyJarOfFlies. He died in 2002. Check your facts

  • great music, great lyrics, great song.

  • 1:06 that footage kicks ass!

  • What a great voice, he still sounded strong and powerful here. Such a shame...

  • badass song layne saved my life ty and i will always remember him rest in peace

  • 1 sucks ass

  • spettacolare

  • to the fanboys that harrass AIC nowadays for getting together years after Layne has past- you have no clue what they went through. He was our icon but he was their brother. you didn't lose a fucking friend, bandmate, brother, etc. Don't act like you knew him personally or you know what they went through. Fuck you.

  • @aliceinchains20000 i dont think you realize that Layne was not their friend. Read layne's last interview. He makes it clear.

  • @chaoss610 If you actually read the interview and the comments of the interview, you will find out that the girl that interviewed him, has written a lot of information given by his mom and sister related to him... not his actual words. Probably true that he didn't want to see the members of Alice in Chains, but that's typical behaviour for someone who is so far down the line. Who wants their friends to see what they have become?

There's a lot of odd things about his last interview.

  • @aliceinchains20000 Sorry, but not true. About a week before Layne died he called a radio station in Seattle and talked about his general state, and what heroin had done to him. It was all he could do to walk to the bathroom and back, weighed about 100 pounds, etc., etc...It was a week after this he died and days after that before someone found him. That's being awful alone for having all these "brothers". Layne himself said I don't have any friends over there, refering to AIC -

  • @tlink166 thumbs up for some truth on youtube

  • @aliceinchains20000 Still a junkie. Nothing going to change that.

  • @aliceinchains20000 lmao so your telling me that just jerry mike and sean wouldnt be better without william? idk about you but william cant sing theyd be better with kurt cobain as their lead singer (obviously he's dead =D)

  • @aliceinchains20000 You can leave people the fuck alone if they want to feel a certain way about Layne.. Your not one to dictate what the fuck music means to people. What Layne went through is a lot of what people coming here are going through. Layne has saved many lives.. and you blowing peoples personal feelings up is bullshit..

  • @aliceinchains20000 And you do? What kind of arrogant BS is this? When Layne died, the band died - and nothing the fanboys say can change it. Layne was kept them afloat through the grunge scene, and he had no emotional ties to Alice in Chains. Quote from Layne before he died, "...the band is not my friends."

  • @aliceinchains20000 ive lost a brother, ive lost several icons, dont act like it was harder for them than for us and by the way they could have picked so many other people to lead, duvall would do great in a led zeppelin cover band but not aic

  • @aliceinchains20000 that was very well said man. i completely agree with you on that

  • @aliceinchains20000 Thank you. I get pissed when people talk shit about DuVall. I'd like to see them step up and try to fill shoes that fucking big. And AIC did it right. They didn't plug some big name superstar into their lineup to sell records. They brought in a close friend and are continuing their legacy.

  • Goddamn you heroin!

  • Jerry although a great musician, most likely woul have never been heard of if it wasn't for Layne. Alice in chains lives on because Layne lived. This comment might upset some people .However I say this becuase I've seen many friends cut they're hair and get jobs, even though they were very talented. As long as Alice in chains lives on so will Layne, because Alice was Laynes.

  • @TheScarie Layne certainly put the work in to become known. Of course, he was also blessed with natural talent.

  • @TheScarie Bro, as a fan of both Layne and Jerry I'd have to disagree with you; Jerry wrote like 80% of the songs, so even if Layne and Jerry hadn't made sweet music together I'm sure we'd associate songs like Would, No Excuses, Man in the Box, etc. with a different voice and the same beastly guitar player. Lucky for us that’s not the case. That's like saying if Paul Simon didnt have Art Garfunkel, Simon would have just been another guy playing guitar in a cover band in Wisconsin.

  • @JarOfMoMack I'm not trying to knock Jerry in any way,he is an amazing musician and song writer. However Layne was something special, one in a million. Without Jerry, Layne still would have made it, he just had that star power. I really wish I could say that for Jerry, however look at the solo efforts, great music but not anything that gets you from being that guy playing in the club to becoming a household name. Also Layne pushed Jerry to sing and extend his range. The two together were amazing.

  • @TheScarie You're right in a sense, but Alice in Chains is dead... Layne is no longer alive, and he was what kept them going, so - in a sense - when Layne died, the band died. And it did. They tried to come back, but it wasn't the same.

  • @TheScarie Totally agree. It's just the facts.

  • He had the best vocals of the 90s mabey the best ever a god of a man

  • Gifts are given...

and then gifts are taken away

    and gifts are taken away

    and gifts are taken...

  • man i hate the mother fucker that started him on herion his dad or who ever should be dead and layne should still be alive gettin ready to celabrate his 43th birthday coming up. rip layne

  • Our beautiful dark angel.....how much I still miss u you....I had the priveledge to see them a few timess over the years and watching Layne decay before my eyes was so sad....towards the end he just stood there and drank water...he never lost that voice though....u guys notice as his pain got deeper his voice shined even more*God bless us all that keep this beautiful, inspirational soul alive through his music*

  • out of all the newer performances we have of Layne, this is one of my favorites.

  • Sure Gods all powerful, but does he have lips

  • What a voice!!! What a waste of talent :( ... R.I.P

  • to jerry: that long hair won't hide that red neck boy.

  • Layne is forever! beyond death!

  • Is there a full version of this concert anywhere?

  • This definitely describes how you feel when you lose someone you love who is very close! i have and this song seems to speak to me on how my mind was in the time after... Sometimes you get angry at God and question his "Love" for us all/ One of the best written songs ever! Miss You Layne!

  • cell166. Different people simply handle the world in different ways. Layne's Soul is not missing it it distributed among us.

  • i want all those bass cabinets!! love this band

  • Not the most energetic live band. They don't need to be energetic, their playing does everything for them.

  • and to the fools thinking this song is saying layne doesnt believe in god...use some fucking logic, you dont get mad at stuff you dont believe in.

  • @nashnwo1234 AMEN!

  • i always assumed the song was about his frustrations with christian religion, and he purposely made the title sound like "god damn" because he doesnt understand how you can be put to hell for being born imperfect and ignorant to what god is, like if you dont get salvation from jesus or w/e. also god's name in the bible translates to Am, which basically just means eternal. "God of all, my God Am." the title can have tons of meanings. they always left their songs open like that.

  • @nashnwo1234 That's true, but also he is asking if he can be like God. As Christians, we look to Christ as our example. Layne was raised Christian. It was as if he was setting himself apart from all else, from his behavior, from the drugs, that deep down inside he was the same wonderful person that God created. But he is also looking at the world and its suffering, also the destruction that governments create and he seems to ask, "Is this your creation?" It's a kind of question like Job.

  • Layne's voice in refrain sounds so much like linkin park vocals.

  • This song is so addicting

  • fantástico!

  • For me...

    No Layne = No AIC!!!

  • The song is more about venting frustrations than it is about anything religious or anti-God.To me "Can I be like my God am" is like him saying he wishes that he could be like God and lead a perfect life and overcome all temptations and be the person he wants to be but he can't for one reason or another.

  • youtube is the best because even if you havent seen layna live , this is just as good ... I love this shit ... i could watch layne over and over and over again .. and again and again

  • @dan6938s His live performances have a magic that the studio versions can never equal.

  • Hey retards, nobody cares about your religious views. Go argue somewhere else.

  • Jerry rippin' that guitar at the begining. So great!

  • Can somebody else comment please? I'm done

  • @JimmielGuerrilla dude your the one who called it an anti god song. Which it is not. All it is really is a song that question god's exsistence. Thats all i've been saying.

  • @Wesson4 It is an anti god song to me.

  • @JoshKasper10 Yea I kno dude... It's so clear, yet people don't get the message and adapt the lyrics to their own beliefs... The fact that the song is against god is what makes it so awesome! Alongside Jerry's guitar playing of course...

  • @JimmielGuerrilla Yeah, Jerry is the GOD, hahaha

  • YOU GUYS, BE QUIET FOR A MINUTE.... THIS IS SERIOUS!!!!

Anybody who knows what I am talking about here is a tried and true AIC fan! \m/

  • Can people stop saying that this song is not completely against god because it clearly is!!! I keep on seeing comments like that everywhere. Just because you are scared to say it dosen't mean that layne, or other people are scared also... True AIC fans know where I'm coming from...goddammit !!! lol RIP Layne

  • @JimmielGuerrilla lol dude, the song is about Layne's relationship with god, and how he viewed him at the time he wrote it.

Who are you to say this song is completley against god? Did Layne tell you that. I doubt it.

None of us really know what the message is about in this song, only Layne.

All we know for sure is that it's bad ass!!

  • Comment removed

  • @JimmielGuerrilla If you think that because Layne wrote those statements in a song.. That he is automatically anti-god then your crazy. All the questions Layne asks have been asked before, and are pondered by millions of people world wide.

  • @JimmielGuerrilla I believe in god. But I don't feel ashamed and i don't think i'm going to hell either, because i don't want to read the bible. Like Layne, I myself find the bible more full of these mythical stories, that nobody knows if there true or not.

If that makes me a bad person. then i'm really sorry and i'll start to read it lol, but to me. the bible isn't the be all end all, that depicts whether or not you believe in god.

  • @Wesson4 who is really crazy here the person who believes in the imaginary friend or the one who doesn't... Layne is questioning god's existance, because he knows that he does not exist. What the song is doing is inviting you to have a different train of thought when it comes to god, to question the system and such. Not everything that the system tells you is true.

  • @JimmielGuerrilla You are wrong to say that Layne knows that God does not exist. You can't speak for him. From my understanding, he did believe in God or a higher power. It's one thing to say what a song says to you, but quite another to attribute your interpretation of the song to the beliefs of the individual who wrote the lyrics.

  • @Wesson4 Now all you are doing is stating the obvious by saying that Layne is asking questions that have been asked before, well duh. Layne at no point says that nobody knows wether the bible is true or not. It's a fable, so its fake, period. Leaving both of our personal opinions about god out of the discussion, which you have failed to do, and by just examinig the lyrics is so obvious that this song is not "god friendly."

  • @Wesson4 Besides you are making it seem like I'm accusing Layne Staley of a crime... If anyhting I'm glorifying the song. Like i said before, people are scared to say that there is no god... Why is that? IDK

  • @Wesson4 You are obviously not paying attention to the lyrics. Layne is talking about "god" but he is not acknowledging "god." He says that he gathers faith from fable. Key word is FABLE, look up the def... It means a fake story with a useful truth... Kind of like the short story The boy who cried wolf. Therefore the song is saying that god is fake, hence the coclusion the song IS against god... Do i really need to say more?

  • @JimmielGuerrilla Layne's isn't denying gods exsistence, He's just saying it's hard to believe in a god, who "according to Layne"

"Relaxes", "Lets the world die", and all we have to know he exists is this book (bible), that is Basically full of fable, instead of true facts.

  • @JimmielGuerrilla Just because the Bible might be a fable to Layne (not that I am saying he thought that) or some other thing might be a fable doesn't mean God is a fable to him. A fable is a story. The song could be saying that a story about God is fable, but people gather their faith from these fables. He doesn't actually question God's existence. If anything, he is angry because of the injustice he sees in the world. But I can't attribute this interpretation to Layne, and neither can u

  • So Lord, I see you grinnin'

    Must be grand always winning

How proud are you being able

    To gather faith from fable

  • he looks so sick. but when you open a tab or scroll down. his voice is still just as amazing sounding. i cant imagine how it would sound if he never had been on heroin. i bet my speakers would have blown

  • "world dies I still pay taxes" fukin sick

  • Good ass band..

  • It's about seeing God as the ultimate laid-back soul and wanting to become as careless and free-spirited as "God Am". It's definitely got more of a meaning than its clever pun.

  • there will never be another layne, i wish people would quit talking about his drug habits.

  • @cky283 Yeah, if it were because of his drug habits that he was known, some homeless junkie would be more famous.

  • hey Layne was sick here but the more I listen to this the more remarkable I realize Layne was...

  • ya its really sad..he was 86 pounds when he died..i was an adict for 3 years, makes me sad to think of the waste of someone who didnt make it..i was going through full blow hell when this album came out and his words had a great impact on me

  • @AICMasta dude, Layne was always sick... aint it sad how something so evil can make someone write awesome songs like this at the risk of dying??? RIP Layne

  • love this song man...layne sounds so good

  • Jerry cantrell and kinney are just soo on time with everyone layne does its rediculas!

  • WORLD DIES I STILL PAY TAXES!!!!

    i fucking love this song

  • Layne voice is inspiring, although drugs ended up ruining him, he really had a gift and he inspires me as a singer....even though this was his last show with AIC. He still put out some great stuff with mad season and his music lives on forever.. and anyone who talks shit about layne has no clue what they are talking about...thats a fact.

  • i may be wrong but mad seson was in 95

  • @laynetorest88 Mad Season is the shit! Yeah man! thx for reminding me!

  • @laynetorest88

was that really his last show? he sounds stronger than MTV unplugged

  • great band. great music. and talented musicians.

  • His voice then is nothing near what it was 4 years prior, but he puts so much passion in that you can feel his frustration... Even though his voice doesn't carry the youth and fullness of his Dirt and Facelift days, there is a lot I would do to be able to sing like Layne at this stage of his career. Thanks for sharing your talent and heart with us Layne.

  • I agree his voice got higher near the end and he struggled to hit the high notes, but he could still hit em. They closed this show with Man in the box, the most vocally demanding song they ever did and he was still able to do a respectable job

  • I actually think he is a better performer here. Maybe not as powerfull as before of course but Layne was always amazing.

  • That is one of the HEAVIEST main guitar riffs ever

  • There are some camera angles that look like pro-shots. For example at 1:54 .

Why isn't the whole video/or show in pro-shot?

Great song. Great performance. Unfortunately the last show with Layne :(

  • He will live and remain in all of our hearts ALWAYS!! Thank you for all the insperation and memorys, RIP Layne...

  • I was so happy when they played this in Birmingham on the 13th/ Probably my favourite Alice song.

  • This song means alot to me...

  • I love the raw feel of this over the studio version. Thanks for posting this video!

  • 1:06-1:08 "TAXES" the best fucken scream and a great profile shot too.

  • fuk yah

  • im not fine, fuck pretending

  • he sounds amazing here

  • PRobably the best year of My Life

  • i love layne!!!!!!! his hair is pretty here

  • Sometimes this bad old world chews people up. There is a soul missing, and we all miss him. So long Layne. RIP

  • i cant stop to hear this song again and again i really love it

  • 13 years later and their music is still absolutely amazing! Absolutely amazing.

  • Is this in KC where they opened for KISS?

  • it was that good live.........

  • What I wouldn't give to see Alice In Chains live with Layne on vocals........

  • Layne just opened his mouth and this voice came out. Even when he did the unplugged thing he was superb.

  • so much emotion so pure brings me almost to tears just like nutshell on the unplugged

  • Pure Passion.

  • Does anyone have some information about the far shot that appear mostly on this video?

THe only source we have is the Super8 balcony right side

  • haha awesome

  • I like the sound of this live than on the album. The vocal shredding during the chorus is fucking awesome. Even layne in his last few days of playing concerts still had it going on, what a fucking beast.

  • I just bought the BEHIND THE PLAYER with inez hes an amazing teacher. It was cool also hearing him talk about how he got started playing and what gear he usesIf you havent picked it up yet, I definitely recommend it.

  • I saw someone posted Alice in Chains doing Led Zep... Kashmir. I thought, cool BUT, it wasn't Layne singing... is it just me?! There is no Alice in Chains without Layne Staley!!! RIP... u r misd

  • so dark that most people dont understand

  • Love this song, I hope I don't hear Duvall sing this one

  • I agree, I do not want to hear DuVall sing this, Love,Hate,Love, or "I Can't Remember" for sure

  • i suggest read his biography, its called "Get Born Again".fuckin great, his last words to his fans are in it.RIP Layne Staley
