I've been thinking about buying an SX bass, and upgrading the pickups to GFS pickups too. Was there a big difference between the stock pickups and the GFS ones?

Great improv! I've been trying to improve my slap bass for a good while now. I noticed you were using a SX bass. I have a couple of their products and I have to say I'm a fan. I own a 5 string jazz fretless ( not very good for this Style but the feel is beautiful ) but I'm looking into getting something along precision style. Got any suggestions?

There is no "Best Bass Company", it all depends on your style/preferences. Some of my favorites are: Yamaha, Music Man, Sadowsky, and MTD.

Well, this isn't a marcus miller sig... It's an SX Chinese Jazz bass copy. I've refinished it, ripped out all the stock electronics, installed GFS Pups and an Audere preamp. I also gave it a new Gotoh 201 bridge. I'm about $400 into it now.
