I have one that gives an extra three, but I get a message saying that this device(insert device of your choice here)will run better/quicker in a 2.0 but my usb ports from my desktop are 2.0 so this seems to suggest that these type of attachments are limited to "other" than 2.0?

Old versions of Norton Ghost ship can have a restore disk made, which is a non-MS DOS (PC DOS I think) and a USB 1.1 driver and a small version of the ghost software. Very useful if you spend a lot of time ghosting win2k and software onto old machines with replacement hard-drives (and much faster than reinstalling the os and all the software and all the windows updates every time, even with only USB 1.1 speed!).

Does it have a socket for external power? If you cascade to many hubs, your root hub inevitably will run out of power... Sometimes one 2,5" HDD is enough...

I have 4 usb ports and 1/2 the time I only use the 1. mainly for charging/sync my ipod. When thats not plugged in then sometimes my flash drive. If not my flash drive sometimes my external hd. Sometimes my printer. Sometimes my wireless mouse. But never really all those at the same time. Suppose I could get a hub and just leave them all plugged into the hub so all I have to do is plug in one cable...but then everything like flashdrives would start loading so that would be a pain. So no use 4 me.
