Very nice choice based on the conditions you live in. I guess the wind and sand will really do a number on typical shingles after time. Metal would probably be nosier but I suppose it would be better than shingles overall.
I hope your videos were backed up on another hard drive than the one that died.
I am not sure why, but I always thought your actual house was bigger, but I have never really seen much of it to say for sure. How many acres do you have?
@clubcar98 Thanks for your comments. Our property is 10 acres...most of my equipment videos are not in our house but in a downtown office building. I just used the Windows XP PC for capturing the videos from the camera and then FTP them to a Linux PC for uploading plus I have the videos backed up on an external hard drive.
@jasonsg4111 Thank you, we live on 10 acres. On some of the bus driving videos you can see more of the back part of the fields but I will try to do more.
@retrochad I have cousins in Austin, they have been trying to convince me to move down to Texas from Connecticut, If i had a Job lined up I would! right now i have been with the same company here for 26 years. so i am staying put for now.
@CoolDudeClem It might be noisier but in this area there are very high winds, up to 50-60 MPH frequently plus there is often hail when there is a storm. The shingle roof that was on the house was really getting destroyed by the wind and hail and the metal should be a lot stronger. A lot of the houses in this area especially out in the country have metal.
@retrochad not to mention the sun just kills roofing the 30 year IKO roof on our house lasted 16 years and now needs replacing and the barn was done in 1998 and is already starting to curl and show ware.
@CWM880 This unit was running on the heat pump mode that day and was actually providing heating. The temperature was probably about 45 degrees. We actually did run the cooling today as it was around 80 degrees.
also the metal roof has a shine to it so the aliens can see you better

you are lucky. In Moorhead today the high has been around 20 degrees and very stormy. We could get around 6 inches of snow before the night is over.

Good choice. Yea, in rural areas, shingles are not a good idea, due to high winds. On our old house, the shingles and siding kept blowing off lol

That roof will probably outlast the house!

Won't a metal roof be noisy if/when it rains? especcisaly next time it hails!
