  • I didn't get it completely. You put 1/2 inch of water and it will soak all the way too the top? How often do you water the plants.

  • Hey well done nice ;)

  • This is great!

  • grandbaby time

  • Fantastic idea. Well done Dave.

  • I love this! Thank you.

  • newspapers will degrade in soil right?

  • how fun. Paper pots are cool!

  • You just blow my mind. fuuuuuuuuuck me

  • great idea, thanks!

  • that's one way to use the newspaper

  • What a good idea. I just can't believe all the ideas you gardners come up with. Thanks for showing us=-}

  • that's a great idea!! I will have to try this. i used egg cartons last time and it worked but the plant roots didn't go to deep and it was tough to transplant once the garden was ready, but my veggies are still doing good.

  • Really like this method ~thanks very much

  • Holy crap Dave what the heck happened to your fingernail?? OUCH!

  • Will this work with my old VCR tapes, too?

  • If you bury the pots, how are we supposed to be able to read it then???

  • @1too3fore You don't.

  • Wow, really great idea - and organic too!

  • Thankyou i will try this i was very impressed with how quickly the seeds germinated.....

  • this is not such a smart idea WHY? do you know from which material are letters made of? from lead! and lead is not good for any living creature. It is not smart to contaminate your plants if you are going to use them later as food font do this! If that is going to be inedible then ok but higher levels of lead can damage a plant :)

  • Most newspapers use vegetable inks now. Newspapers are perfectly fine for organic gardening. They're used in No Dig Gardens and with Vermicomposting too.

  • Great video-why didn't I think of this?

Yes, I believe I read (gasp! in a newspaper!) that as of 2004-5, 95% of newspapers were in soy-based ink. Lead was banned quite some time ago. I would think, if it were made of lead, it would be hazardous for us to read, touch, breathe in...

  • Very simple, I like.

  • this is so cool...a cheap project and fun to get kids to work..er..i mean participate in the joy of gardening

  • I think I will try this. :)

  • lol "what happens to the ink"

  • what happens to the ink in the newspaper?

  • Don't worry about the ink, it is soy based in 99% of newspapers

  • that works for the US but in france for example, the ink s not clean....

  • I'm so going to do that!!

  • amazing!!!! thank you very mutch

  • wow!u clever guy

  • amazing!!!!

  • Cool! Are you sure that paper will break down enough to allow roots to spread? Anyway, I like the idea better than peat pots. I really like the bottom wicking water method. Looks very easy! Thanks!

  • I am guessing that the thickness of the newspaper will determine how fast they will break down and fall apart? Make them thin, or thick depending on what your need is. There is no doubt that he has got it figured out and what I see is a great video. Thanks Kevin

  • Why didn't I think of that?

  • ...wOW .... thank you Dave1

  • OHHH AWESOME TY

  • Sweet.

  • Do you know how long the pots will last before planting? I imagine them breaking down rather quickly. Very good idea though!

  • cool well explained

  • Great idea! Thanks Dave
