It's just a speaker box. I built one back in the 80s after reading about one Alan Holdsworth made to record with in his apartment at the time. You just build a box within a box, put a speaker baffle inside with a speaker in it, and drill a hole just big enough to allow a microphone cable and a speaker cable coming from your guitar amp. It allows you to run your amp cranked for recording while the sound is contained within the speaker box.
