whoa, thanks...we're only students and have a long, long way to go to get even close to the professional violinists out there today...but we really appreciate your support. it means alot to us!
hi, this is a very large collection. some of the instruments are on loan to professional violinists who are touring or recording, some are on loan to conservatories, some will remain in the estate, and some will be sold. its been a real privilege for my brother nad i to get to play these instruments :D
there's alot of color variations in violins, thats for sure. different makers have different formulas for the way they lay down the grounds and mix their varnishes, and of course there appear to be stylistic fads over the past 200 years or so. i noticed that the italian violins tend more to the yellow coloring.
well, i'm kind of sightreading it; i just pulled the sheet music out for a sound sample last week and did a slower part, so i thought i'd try this out on this nice old spanish violin. i think sometimes when i haven't studied a piece, i'm more relaxed..
What an amazing violin for an amazing piece. Of course, it's played wonderfully! Absolutely one of my favorite Sarasate pieces and you perform it amazingly. :D
hi...love the piece too. i pulled the sheet music for a sound sample last week and didn't have time to really do the beginning, so i did a slower part. i thought i'd give this part a go on this awsome spanish violin. now i want to work the whole piece up. hows your new piece going?
I'd love to hear you after you've gotten the whole piece down. It's one of the few classical pieces over 5 minutes that my father actually likes so that's gotta say something. :D I request a full recording on Youtuba, ya?
My piece? You mean what I'm writing? It's coming along...slowly...my mind is so fried from my first semester of graduate school that I haven't had much inspiration. But, that'll change soon...I hope. <_< What else are you guys up to both in and out of the music world?
definately...i'll get it sorted it soon. yeah, we can't wait to hear your new work. hope school is going well for you. for us its always a challenge. we're busy preparing for some concerts...one big thing on new years eve. a couple of competitions coming up, and we are going back to lincoln center with our school in the spirng. and of course, we're working out our plans for college auditions...scarry!
@eboyinc School just got out for me last week. Graduate school is a killer. @_@ You guys are already doing college auditions?? Yikes! Where has the time flown? Sounds like you both are quite busy with competitions and performances, ya? For college, are you both pursuing music? What a treat for the musical world, it will be, when the both of you start selling out other top artists! :D
In a couple of years my piece will be done. I plan to get a movement done this break but, we'll see. x_x
thanks so much!!! we don't have a piano here and we only get about five minutes with the violin to tune it up, figure out something to play and record the video...but its a great suggestion.
I just watched a video titled "Prokofiev Sonata for 2 violins Mov. 3" ---is that you and your brother? you guys look so young!!! And you're brilliant!!!!
Wow...that's you guys!!! Its so cool to see you both. Why don't you put some ofthe stuff from your musicasa2ndlanguage page on eboyinc? You're both an inspiration!
Sounds perfect to me. but i'm just a violinmaker, so i don't feel qualified to judge. and in light of this awsome performance, it seems somewhat irrelevant. why not try and see the fantastic aspects of this video rather than look for some bothersome criticism.
my fav song eva u and nicola benedetti r my fav players

The violin has a very raw sound to it to this recording.
The violin, the player and the song compliment each other quite well.
I like it hehe
drag0nsknight 2 years ago 2
thanks...i think you're right, the violin has a deep gypsy growl that really works well for this piece.
