Ebay is full of fraud. The North Face and other high end clothing out of China are all fakes and of poor quality. Some of these sellers still have high feedback ratings. Most people don't know how to spot fakes and the sellers know it. Don't buy anything from China. Most of the stuff are knockoffs. There are tons of fake silver coins being sold on Ebay. Copper coins that are only clad in silver. One pound coins worth 5 bucks that are selling for 500 dollars. Sad to see so many scammed.

Never send money through anyone but PayPal. I recently bought an item that the seller advertized as "guarantted made in USA' but inside the item it had "made in China." Paypal requested that I return ir to the seller, which I did with delivery confirmation, and PayPal gave me the cost of the item plus the shipping. I think that they are very good.
guys i need your help . Recently i bought smth from ebay , paid for it directly with paypal . I didnt receive any kind of email from the seller for few days so i started sending messages and asking whats going on . Then after few days he replies saying he already shipped the product , though , in my ebay account under the "won/purchased" tab , at "shipped" tap , doesn't show this product as shipped .... so , whats really happened ? Tnx in advance !
TIP for craigslist buyer: Never contact through Email always ask for a home phone or cell phone number. This way you can give the number to the local police if you get scammed. Also always go to a meet up with someone that has already purchased items like the item your buying or just for company. Always do meet ups in populated areas such as: Mall's, Parks, Restaurant, etc.
I just got robbed by Paypal today! This DEADBEAT loser (ebay name stkwireless) bought not one but TWO 32" flatscreen televisions from me. AFTER I shipped them out he emails me saying, "I ordered the wrong model...sorry about that! I'm just going to refuse the delivery." I told him sorry, but I do not accept returns, as stated in my eBay ad. That motherfucker refused the packages so I was charged not only for the original shipping but the return shipping as well! $154 and Paypal backed it!
Okay, first off, sorry to everyone who has been scammed, but seriously, if it sounds to good to be true, then it's a SCAM! Who in thier right mind WIRES money to people they don't know? 99% of these Email and Ebay scams i have researched (in order to keep myself safe, which everyone should do!) sound really stupid and obvious , I would never respond to these fake ass scams. Sorry but you should take responsiblity for your own money, I'm only 20 years old and I know better, come on.
Hi. I just bought an item from ebay and when I checked for it later a had a message from ebay saying they took it off of my account for safety reasons. They also said that I may not receive what i got. Does anyone know any more about this? please p.m. me
@yousuf123456789 you need to report that issue to paypal and the authorities.that's messed up.Nigeria is one of the worst places for eBay scams.a Nigerian tried to scam me out of an iPhone I had listed.I didn't ship it.thank god!
i got scammed on ebay buyer claimed i sold him a broke item that was listed as very good he filled complaint before he received the item and dumbass paypal gives refund i hate ebay
OMGGG i just got scammed i just sent a wii to nigeria and the shippin cost 120 dollers and now there is all these problems OMMG what should i do like there were supposed to pay mebut i still have not gotten the money yet and i have shipped the produt because paypal is saying that they need the tracjing number and i gave them that but now there saying there is a problem am i screwed? should i cal the poilce?
I will never use PayPal to sell things. I will use either a merchant account or Google Checkout. PayPal is a rip off for your money. Don't trust eBay or PayPal more than your buyer.
Almost forgot this scam: you search for a nice designer pen or cigar case or toy soldiers perhaps, something of value AND something made in miniature!! You think you are bidding on the standard size, the photos are taken at close range to make the object appear in standard size and the price is just around the standard sized price - then it arrives in the mail - surprise!
To beat the mini scam, be sure to look for photos with other objects to determine the size - ebay does not require a ruler in the photos or the dimensions (a good idea). Then be sure to ask and confirm prior to bidding that its the correct sized items. I have been burned by this one, and oh boy, do the scammer ever delight to laugh at how stupid you are (not how deliberately fruadulent they are).
In fact, I have high hopes that someone at ebay might actually read these comments here on youtube (HAHAHA), might actually do something to correct what they have built - the perfect cesspit for scammers - a veritable scammers paradise!!! Honest buyers and sellers (like me) finance it all with their money and quality goods, to feed it to the profits of the scammer and of course EBAY itself - that is why EBAY IS NOT MOVITATED TO FIX PROBLEMS - ITS TOO PROFITABLE
IF you think it is just whinning about ebay support, I challenge anyone to get a rapid reply or speak to anyone at ebay regard a filed claim. Ebay does NOT answer its telephone in SJ, CA - its an automated attendant, that will re-direct you BACK to the website to send and email. Once you email is received, you will get a FORM LETTER from the server, and no place to reply to the message. NICE!
Ebay's business model is clear: they protect the sellers, they collect fees, and make the buyers jump through hoops to get compensated when de-frauded as a general rule. Note: it several cases were pending in the Judge Judy case and it took action by the Attorney General to remove the scammer seller
One more scam to share. You might read these posts and think - it can never happen to you - I am too smart. Well, I have defended nearly 300 transactions from fraud but some will always get through. Seller sold $50 broken item, I returned it with tracking #. Reported to ebay (did nothing), seller claimed he mailed replacements (untracked), my fault I didnt get it. Then quit ebay and re-joined under a new name - no problem on ebay!
Get serial numbers for items that bear them such as electronic/computer equipment. I was scammed for $250 when I purchased a LCD monitor. The scam: show a photo of the item with the serial number and model number hidden by the photograph. I even tried to purchase in person, and I was still scammed. The seller simply sold a similar but much cheaper model.
When I looked at the item is was nearly identical. No hints on the packaging to give the switch away. When I reported it to ebay, the seller claimed that I SWITCHED the the monitors and the I was trying to scam him!!! Ebay did absolutely nothing, as they always do against favorite seller. I how you all learned something - it costed me $250!
Here is an example of an prohibited "positive feedback" in retaliation against a negative feedback given to a seller. The seller from the-toyz wrote in retailation:
HORRIBLE BUYER.SELLERS BEWARE!! DRAGS OUT PYMNT LEAVES NEG AND IT'S ALL MY FAULT. Ebay has yet to enforce its own against its protected sellers. Ebay is about protecting corrupt big power-sellers who ebay pay comissions - but of course, its the buyers that finance the transactions.
Someone tried to scam me once on PayPal. I got a notice that someone used my account to buy a $700 computer, and I had to click on the link to dispute it. Instead of doing that, I typed the Paypal web address and checked both it, and my bank records. Neither one showed that transaction.
@PhoenixFlare1 I stood up to the extortionist, and he lied in my feedback rating saying it was broken, but finally gave up at the claim stage....nonetheless, my reputation as harmed as a seller, and ebay guidelines say its illegal, but they do anything against the buyer when email evidence is provided. They dont remove the false feedback either. Avoid ebay!
I have been scammed on ebay without it shpwing in paypal. The buyer, threatened before he received the item I sold to report it damaged and make a false claim. Since he never how to manipulate the reporting system...he tried to extort an additional $25 of items I had listed - send it him for free - or else he would report the item was defective, destroy it and mail it back to me and he would get his money back.
Sellers often inflate the shipping costs to make more money. This seller was hoping to harass me out of the sale, create multiple shipping costs on multiple purchases in a short timeframe by striking the transaction because they did get paid in 7 days, while I was still shopping. Just another scam by power seller who NEVER get reprimanded. They will lie lie lie about you.
The seller the-toyz is claiming they did not receive a payment for 0.99 cents for an item presumable worth more. Buyer hope to pick up a good deal once in a while. But not so fast on Ebay. The Toyz were hoping to cancel the transaction while the buyer (me) notified them that I was still shopping for lower combined shipping.
What gets me is how eBay is removing neg feedback we leave to warn other members about the scammers and then they go and allow the scammer to open another new account and turn a blind eye when the scammer buys feedback for $0.01 a time and then scams another load of people.
eBay does not have members it has suckers that are treated like crap.
That is a valid point. In addition, when you give well deserved negative feedback like I did to thetoyz, a modelshop on ebay, the seller will return with 'positive feedback' that lies about you. It is strickly prohibited as written in the ebay guidelines...
But when you request to have the retaliatory (illegal) feedback removed, ebay will do nothing about it - you you cant give negative feedback to a seller without getting false feedback in return. Ebay just does not care they are too busy collecting your money for fee they dont deserve. Just sell your stuff to your local community: its better.
also if you contact a bidder asking a question be carefull,if they know theres strong interest in an item,they will get a freind to bid against you 2 raise the price.that why you see so many items relisted,because the genuine buyer has dropped out.stick to a limit and best deal with good countries ie uk usa germany france etc
shill bidders, as they are called, will show up and are recognizable when they re-appear auction after auction, set moderate price and then drive up the highest bidder who challenges them with a top bid, often with incremental bids to max out the unfortunate high bidder. Its a fairly common scam - its easy to be ripped off on ebay, one of many, many ways. Ebay rarely helps you after the scam.
BTW- Only ship to the address PayPal gives you once your eBay auction has ended. NEVER ship to an address someone provides that isn't registered with PayPal, and always send with delivery confirmation and tracking.
provides little to no coverage but charges sellers alot in percentage fees! Paypal very rarely interferes. Also seller can mail you a box of junk with a receipt of mailing and tough luck for the buyer. Paypal has no way of actually knowing what was mailed. ebay which owns paypal just HYPES the DANGER of online selling - only ebay/paypal is safe. SURE.
If you're selling on eBay, be careful too. I get at least several emails a day from people asking me to take my items off auction to sell to them. They say they will pay me through PayPal, but the trick is once you ship the item and they get it, they contact Paypal and say it was never received. They get free merchandise, and you lose money. These are typical Nigerian 419 scams. They will even give you addresses is the U.S. to send it to, but when you deal outside eBay, you have no protection.
International sellers are selling mid range products and once they are sold and payed for, they report their items from another account and ebay remove the items because there is something that woudnt be allowed on ebay which the seller puts in on purpose. This deletes all memory of the sell on your ebay page and its impossible to contact them as they give a fake email address.
i sold a PSP like 4 years ago on ebay.. winning bidder was in argentina.. got the money, shipped the item, money was taken back out of my paypal because it was paid using a stolen credit card. cannot get money back, cannot get item back.
@evilsandwich2 I disagree. Dont worry, in fact, there are plenty of dishonest ebayers in the USA from my 300+ purchases. I find that Germany likes to peddle junk especially to foreigners, and France has sent me garbage, too. UK folks, with the sole exception of a computer reseller, have been the best source of ebay items, IF they are willing to sell to you. UK ebayers like to restrict their auctions to its domestic audience. Hats off to you!
Ya here's a true story: I got scammed on ebay into buying the game Modern Warfare 2. The seller was new, he had 0 feedback, and he was selling 40 quantities of the game.
So when people bought up to 30 and 10 were left, I panicked that such a good price would run out (he sold it $40 when it's around $60) so I bought it.
It turned out that his account got suspended (Ebay never mentions why) and I never received the game. So it's obvious what he got scammed for. Now I'm disputing and hoping!
the same thing happened with me, i bought a xbox 360 recharge kit for the controller, i sent the money to him, i never got it and his account has been suspended or something happened with it and now i cant contact him
@ramzukaatramzuka i know exactly what you mean i bought a few things off ebay the seller had a 100 % feed back ect i bought the item is question he never sent it i contacted ebay and all they did was shut his account down so i no longer trust ebay
the best way to tell if a seller or buyer is legit is by looking at the feedback rating, if its over 90% then the seller is legit. if the seller has less or no feedback rating, tred with caution or better off dont bother
I disagee. 100% FB seller can scam you too and hide behind their reputation. While it is better to deal with 99%+ that is not a sure thing. I was feedback extorted by a 100% FB buyer who knew tricks. Ebay does not care. I have received dozens of form letters in response to my claims - no one have even read my file, at least, no sign of it.
Well i was just giving general advice. I mean if someone's got a feedback rating of less than 40% ur not going to buy from them are you. I only buy from someone on ebay if their percentage is over 90% or i know the person in real life. Ive never had a problem so far with buying goods from ebay. Maybe it just down to people experience with buying from ebay but i dont know
NO ONE ON EBAY HAS A 40% rating! ALMOST EVERYONE HAS A 90%+ rating. Ebay will remove negative feedback from its favorite (volume) sellers. I have done 300+ item/transactions - how about you?
VERY few are below 90% People just close an account and open a new one. If you are a POWER SELLER, ebay will just REMOVE NEG FEEDBACK because of your status eg. THE TOYZ has ebay remove NEG FB, it deserves a MUCH lower rating. Neg feedback is ERASED AFTER ONE YEAR!
@MaidenFan24568 this works in some cases but not all. i bought an item on ebay a few days back and the seller had 45 of them for sale and they all sold in a day. two days later the seller was "no longer and ebay member" but i checked his feedback before buying. he only had 26 but it was 100 percent positive and he had sold other items and also he had been an ebay member for over a year
You have until April 2009 to buy from eBay safely if you select a powerseller with a solid reputation. That's about as easy as it gets for buying on eBay. The problem is that by May 2009 all eBayers will LOOK trustworthy when they are not. You see, only sellers started receiving negative feedback starting in May 2008 (buyers do not get negative feedback). Trust me that the real scammers will start to surface in May 2009. They'll have 100% feedback and look like a good risk, when they are not.
That's why you look at the buyers that have left feedback for a seller, and contact several (or more) of the buyers, and ask how their transaction went. Chances are, not all of the buyers are out to scam. That's what I do. Look at the seller's feedback, and if there's a lot of negative feedback in a short time (or overall), then don't bid.
You're telling me. I once tried to sell a video camera, and some scammer that signed up that day used the "Buy It Now" button and tried to scam me into shipping it to Nigeria, despite the fact that I listed it inside the US only. eBay thankfully cancelled the sale and banned the bastard. I've also had the same thing happen when I listed a laptop (scammer claiming to be from England and wanted me to ship to Nigeria), though that auction didn't have the BIN button, but they tried to send fake pay.
Someone asked me to explain why all eBayer buyers will look like angels starting in May 2009...
HERE'S WHY: Buyers who began in May 2008, and have never sold anything, will have a clean 100% record. This is because eBay buyers can not receive negative feedback. All you have to do to guarantee a 100% perfect feedback score is to NEVER SELL. Only sellers can get negative feedback. eBay records only the last 12 months of your record, so May 2009 is when all eBay buyers will look like angels.
VLADUZ DOWNLOADED EVERYONES PERSONAL INFORMATION....NO ONE TALKED ABOUT IT IN THE MAJOR MEDIA BECAUSE EBAY USES K STREET AND SLIMY LOUISIANA-STYLE POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS TO RUN THEIR GRIFT IN SAN JOSE WHILE BEING INCORPORATED IN DELAWARE!!!!!!1

I will never use PayPal to sell things. I will use either a merchant account or Google Checkout. PayPal is a rip off for your money. Don't trust eBay or PayPal more than your buyer.

Ebay sucks.
GodBlesstheWorld2008 1 year ago
Almost forgot this scam: you search for a nice designer pen or cigar case or toy soldiers perhaps, something of value AND something made in miniature!! You think you are bidding on the standard size, the photos are taken at close range to make the object appear in standard size and the price is just around the standard sized price - then it arrives in the mail - surprise!
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
@MrScambuster1
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
In fact, I have high hopes that someone at ebay might actually read these comments here on youtube (HAHAHA), might actually do something to correct what they have built - the perfect cesspit for scammers - a veritable scammers paradise!!! Honest buyers and sellers (like me) finance it all with their money and quality goods, to feed it to the profits of the scammer and of course EBAY itself - that is why EBAY IS NOT MOVITATED TO FIX PROBLEMS - ITS TOO PROFITABLE
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
IF you think it is just whinning about ebay support, I challenge anyone to get a rapid reply or speak to anyone at ebay regard a filed claim. Ebay does NOT answer its telephone in SJ, CA - its an automated attendant, that will re-direct you BACK to the website to send and email. Once you email is received, you will get a FORM LETTER from the server, and no place to reply to the message. NICE!
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
Ebay's business model is clear: they protect the sellers, they collect fees, and make the buyers jump through hoops to get compensated when de-frauded as a general rule. Note: it several cases were pending in the Judge Judy case and it took action by the Attorney General to remove the scammer seller
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
Ebay scammer need not act this egregiously but there are cases:
watch?v=qp6M5l0FmEg&feature=related
After 300 purchase, I have come to realize ebay is not worth the hassle. Note the seller attacked the buyer in feedback with lies. Very common move.
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
One more scam to share. You might read these posts and think - it can never happen to you - I am too smart. Well, I have defended nearly 300 transactions from fraud but some will always get through. Seller sold $50 broken item, I returned it with tracking #. Reported to ebay (did nothing), seller claimed he mailed replacements (untracked), my fault I didnt get it. Then quit ebay and re-joined under a new name - no problem on ebay!
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
Get serial numbers for items that bear them such as electronic/computer equipment. I was scammed for $250 when I purchased a LCD monitor. The scam: show a photo of the item with the serial number and model number hidden by the photograph. I even tried to purchase in person, and I was still scammed. The seller simply sold a similar but much cheaper model.
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
When I looked at the item is was nearly identical. No hints on the packaging to give the switch away. When I reported it to ebay, the seller claimed that I SWITCHED the the monitors and the I was trying to scam him!!! Ebay did absolutely nothing, as they always do against favorite seller. I how you all learned something - it costed me $250!
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
@MrJamesHoang
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
Someone tried to scam me once on PayPal. I got a notice that someone used my account to buy a $700 computer, and I had to click on the link to dispute it. Instead of doing that, I typed the Paypal web address and checked both it, and my bank records. Neither one showed that transaction.
PhoenixFlare1 1 year ago
@PhoenixFlare1 I stood up to the extortionist, and he lied in my feedback rating saying it was broken, but finally gave up at the claim stage....nonetheless, my reputation as harmed as a seller, and ebay guidelines say its illegal, but they do anything against the buyer when email evidence is provided. They dont remove the false feedback either. Avoid ebay!
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
@MrScambuster1 @PhoenixFlare1
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
@MrScambuster1
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
@MrScambuster1
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
ebay and the people need to stop selling scams
MrDragonmaster1993 1 year ago
What gets me is how eBay is removing neg feedback we leave to warn other members about the scammers and then they go and allow the scammer to open another new account and turn a blind eye when the scammer buys feedback for $0.01 a time and then scams another load of people.
eBay does not have members it has suckers that are treated like crap.
EBUSTER7 1 year ago 2
@EBUSTER7
That is a valid point. In addition, when you give well deserved negative feedback like I did to thetoyz, a modelshop on ebay, the seller will return with 'positive feedback' that lies about you. It is strickly prohibited as written in the ebay guidelines...
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
@MrScambuster1
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
also if you contact a bidder asking a question be carefull,if they know theres strong interest in an item,they will get a freind to bid against you 2 raise the price.that why you see so many items relisted,because the genuine buyer has dropped out.stick to a limit and best deal with good countries ie uk usa germany france etc
3rk4u 2 years ago
@3rk4u
shill bidders, as they are called, will show up and are recognizable when they re-appear auction after auction, set moderate price and then drive up the highest bidder who challenges them with a top bid, often with incremental bids to max out the unfortunate high bidder. Its a fairly common scam - its easy to be ripped off on ebay, one of many, many ways. Ebay rarely helps you after the scam.
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
BTW- Only ship to the address PayPal gives you once your eBay auction has ended. NEVER ship to an address someone provides that isn't registered with PayPal, and always send with delivery confirmation and tracking.
cayetanohawaii 2 years ago 10
@cayetanohawaii
provides little to no coverage but charges sellers alot in percentage fees! SURE.
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
If you're selling on eBay, be careful too. I get at least several emails a day from people asking me to take my items off auction to sell to them. They say they will pay me through PayPal, but the trick is once you ship the item and they get it, they contact Paypal and say it was never received. They get free merchandise, and you lose money. These are typical Nigerian 419 scams. They will even give you addresses is the U.S. to send it to, but when you deal outside eBay, you have no protection.
cayetanohawaii 2 years ago
were these done through paypal? I know paypal charges sellers pretty good, along with ebay.

More like Ebay Scum! I hate Ebay for taking my items off but leaving exactly the same item of someone elses on!!!
Ebay are cunts...fact
LabRat6619 2 years ago
WARNING NEW SCAM!
International sellers are selling mid range products and once they are sold and payed for, they report their items from another account and ebay remove the items because there is something that woudnt be allowed on ebay which the seller puts in on purpose. This deletes all memory of the sell on your ebay page and its impossible to contact them as they give a fake email address.
be careful!!

i sold a PSP like 4 years ago on ebay.. winning bidder was in argentina.. got the money, shipped the item, money was taken back out of my paypal because it was paid using a stolen credit card. cannot get money back, cannot get item back.
NEVER DEAL WITH ANYONE OUTSIDE OF THE USA - EVER
evilsandwich2 2 years ago

Now I'm disputing and hoping!

the best way to tell if a seller or buyer is legit is by looking at the feedback rating, if its over 90% then the seller is legit. if the seller has less or no feedback rating, tred with caution or better off dont bother
MaidenFan24568 2 years ago 8
@MaidenFan24568
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
@MrScambuster1
Well i was just giving general advice. I mean if someone's got a feedback rating of less than 40% ur not going to buy from them are you. I only buy from someone on ebay if their percentage is over 90% or i know the person in real life. Ive never had a problem so far with buying goods from ebay. Maybe it just down to people experience with buying from ebay but i dont know
MaidenFan24568 1 year ago
@MaidenFan24568
NO ONE ON EBAY HAS A 40% rating! ALMOST EVERYONE HAS A 90%+ rating. Ebay will remove negative feedback from its favorite (volume) sellers. I have done 300+ item/transactions - how about you?
MrScambuster1 1 year ago
@MaidenFan24568
MrScambuster1 1 year ago

CashBackAtEbay 3 years ago
That's why you look at the buyers that have left feedback for a seller, and contact several (or more) of the buyers, and ask how their transaction went. Chances are, not all of the buyers are out to scam. That's what I do. Look at the seller's feedback, and if there's a lot of negative feedback in a short time (or overall), then don't bid.
TyVulpine 3 years ago
These assholes make it pretty hard for first time sellers though.
Yieiuu 2 years ago
You're telling me. I once tried to sell a video camera, and some scammer that signed up that day used the "Buy It Now" button and tried to scam me into shipping it to Nigeria, despite the fact that I listed it inside the US only. eBay thankfully cancelled the sale and banned the bastard. I've also had the same thing happen when I listed a laptop (scammer claiming to be from England and wanted me to ship to Nigeria), though that auction didn't have the BIN button, but they tried to send fake pay.
TyVulpine 2 years ago
can u explain why will all ebayers look legit in may and not know? thx
Jamie3065 3 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show
Someone asked me to explain why all eBayer buyers will look like angels starting in May 2009...
