Actually, I'm pretty sure I did say "white power". It was a reference to the "Clayton Bigsby: Black White Supremacist" sketch on Chappelle's Show. The blind black man, who was a white supremacist, would hold his fist up and shout that out. I had no idea this was going to YouTube, and I'm definitely not racist :).
@fishaofmen Fisha - now you tell me! Dang, I wish you would have gotten here earlier. This has been a huge controversy, with at least half a dozen comments and accusations. Hey, at least it's exciting to be a part of a scandal :-)
@Okwilliams Yeah man I fly at Fresno Yosemite and watch F-16s from the 144th FW and Super Hornets from Lemoore fly all of the time, it's awesome.Where was the filmed at?
@glenely I can assure everyone he didn't say white power. Like I've said before, the guy saying that is Asian, would be kind of strange if he said white power? Plus, I have lots of friends of all different races... we are Christians and if you knew us, you'd know that we try to love everyone and definitely don't have any prejudices. But I AM prejudice against the people here who say the planes are too loud for my kid... come on! Live a little! :-) He is years older now and hears very well :-)
@LymeDiseasePublisher You continue to take your kid to see these things. I was raised around guns, races & a lot of other things that make noise and I'm just fine. Let him enjoy these things while he's young. Great video by the way.
@ MrSabot88... Pakistan got he F16's from US because New Zealand (A small western-friendly country in the South Pacific) reneged on the deal 10 years ago. And ummm maybe the Euro a/craft was a better deal...? BTW - Your opinon of your president sounds fascist. When did "reason" become "terrorist loving"...?
F18 super hornet on top of the rest? Just lost the US$11 billion tender in India for 126 fighters to EF Typhoon n Dassault Rafale.
Was it USA foreign policy of supplying F16s' for free to ungrateful terrorist loving, Osama hosting pakistan that caused the USA to lose this tender n all those jobs at Boeing?
Not to nit pick, but if these are Navy jets, the pilot wouldn't be a Colonel ( 1:12 ). Am I wrong? Looking at the plane I think he is a Commander. But great video!!!
@Motocrosser14 not unless the MARINES are attached to the command. I dont see why they would be though being that VMFAT-101 is in Miramar and thats their training command
@pmgMAKEupHubby just sayin, on the plane he has a CDR in front of his name. But you were there not i. Just making an observation, and asking a question.
i'm a dude and this gives me hard on! seen of these at the lethbridge airshow crash this summer! Still one my favorite fighter planes for speed and agile but F-16 would kick that things ass
hu the super (Rhino) as we call in the biz is my squadron VFA-122 i was previously VFA-125 but the 2 squadrons merged to one so now we have F/A-18 A, B,C, D, E, and F. A-D are hornets or legacies and E and F's are rhinos. Cool vid man. My favorite part of launching a jet is final checking right before launch.
Nice video...but I gotta ask, what are 3 USN planes doing in Tahoe Airport???I may be a ignorant but I just find it odd that civilians are so close to the planes during Takeoff...
@TheMadness323 It's America man not Soviet Russia. Their is a air national guard that has blackhawks and they use our little airport. You can literally walk up and touch them...no fence to section them off from the rest of the airport whatsoever. I see people all the time 10 ft away taking photo's. I am sure they asked for permission...we have never had to worry about our citizens vandalizing military aircraft...it just doesn't happen...its America.
@cchanderson really?So....the point of your comment is lost somewhere between where you try to compare a static rotary wing aircraft to a fixed wing Fighter Jet ready to take off and where you try to make me sound like a commie...you should just not have commented at all.
@TheMadness323 No all I am saying is the military is noticeably relaxed about civilians around military aircraft. They like civilians and pilots love to entertain. The military loves to show off their hardware. There is some security around but it is mostly laxed. I know I spent a few of my Marine years at an airfield. The airfield I was at was protected by a pistol carried by the officer on duty lol.
@cchanderson Well, the point I was trying to make is that at air shows they never let you in that close to the RUNWAY DURING TAKEOFF....so i still don't understand what the purpose of your comment was....It's still not making any sense to me why we're talking about static aircraft....I know full well I can't go into Lackland AFB and touch a plane,While I appreciate the fact that you're a former marine, you're reading far too into my comment.
@TheMadness323 They come for the air show every year. Regulations don't allow them to perform during the show, so the only time you get to watch them in action is finding out when they leave then showing up to watch the "show." Most people don't know this so its just a few of us watching. I learned how to fly at this small airport, some people who work there know me....... so I walked up on the tarmac to the planes to watch and get close, and no one said go back :-) Hence the cool video.
Dude, that jet is from a navy squadron, if you look at the pilot's rank a little closer you will see that he is a CDR not COL. Not trying to be a smart alec but 2 easy ways to tell a USN and USMC apart are: 1st- they paint the service branch just in front of the stabilator. 2nd- the squadron # is painted just behind the cockpit, VFA-122. VFA= Navy fighter/attack squadron 122. A USMC jet would have, for example VMFA 314, Marine fighter/attack squadron 314
@iUnr4t3d15, no, he didn't say that, in fact he is Asian :-) ... I normally don't respond to these comments but I had to clarify that, we definitely aren't racist. Thanks!
@iUnr4t3d15 Actually he said the opposite, "Black Power". I don't know these guys so I cannot speak to his motivation but I am 99.999 % sure he is making an observation, not a statement. If you look at the video, the ground crewman is signaling the pilot by holding his fist up, resembling Tommie Smith and John Carlos on the 200m medal stand @ the 1968 olympics in Mexico City. Google "black power salute" and you can read all about it.
@iUnr4t3d15 Some how my earlier response went to main messages so scroll down or I can make it real easy. Look on the screen, the handler is giving a signal to the pilot that looks like the Black Power podium salute @ the 68 Olympics. When I watch the video I hear Black Power but if is saying White Power it is in response to the guy on the screen.
@TomcatSucks4ever2 no it looks better than F-16. That is the hornet's roll. The USN's "cheap" f-22 is the F-35 JSF.
