  • my daughter had this playing at her partner funeral so sad . And in my heart i know he is watching over his children and my daughter .

  • my biggest hope, my lifelong dream, is for bernard fanning to record an album with john frusciante, i'd sell my soul to the devil to see them play together

  • @TheMrDudeWTF that would actually be amazing! Johns my Favourite guitarist ever and im from Aus and love bern and powderfinger. it would be incredible

  • If ever i was to write a song to my LIFE, my LOVE my ALL, my Lynda this would hit the nail on the head !!!!!!!!

  • Bernard you are a legend !!

  • This was also a song aimed at a charity for people with early onset M.S. Good on ya Bernard!!

  • Bernard you're a great musician. I'm Sirius ;)

  • thankyou bernard i sang this song at my grandma's funeral

  • just gone midnight. 8 weeks of shit.one week of barren.coincidence.music is my nirvana. beautiful lyric. beautiful song :) x

  • This song has so much truth to it that it really speaks to anyone who knows what its like to have someone to watch over you like the person Fanning sings for. A Beautiful hymn it is, a tribute to the givers ♥

  • Beautiful! ! ! ! ! !

  • Who the hell dislikes this, its just a man and his guitar which consists of talent!

  • @93MrAcdc couldnt agree more was just thinking the same...I watched the vid n scrolled down n thought thers no way anyone could dislike this ;-(

  • its good to believe in something!! beautiful song bernard!!

  • I love it, i fuckin love it.

  • this song always makes me cry!!!

  • how can those 6 people live with themselves?

  • i've literally been listening to this for 3 hours straight..

  • WE WANT M0:00RE!!!

  • SUCH AMAZING TALENT!!

  • How can 5 people dislike this? I wish there was a 'counter dislike' button. One of my fav things Powderfinger always did live was say 'were powderfinger and were from queensland, or brisbane' always gave me chills. They never, ever forgot their roots. Thats what Rock Legends are made of. And thats why they will be remembered in 20 years time.

  • talent talent talent... wow!

  • Love it.

  • sitting at the merchant bit lost in the coffee and there it is right infront of me

  • bello

  • The audience aren't screaming, singing or dancing because they are blown away by this man and his beautiful music from the heart :)

  • I love this song!! I forgot what love was.. Until I heard this song :)

  • Love it. Woot! Didn't even realise he was from Australia! Yay! Go Aussies. Beautiful song.

  • Knowing you are there to watch over me....gives me peace:)

  • Love listening to your live performances Bernard :)

  • bernard fanning for bluesfest 2012

  • @Redemmption310 dont forget his heart

  • Man, I tried to tell my non-religious friends and musical peers that Bernard Fanning was a deeply spiritual (and Catholic) songwriter. They claimed I was projecting my own subjective reality INTO his art. Well here it is straight from the horses mouth. This song is inspired by the funeral of one of my greatest heros Pope JP2nd God bless him. May his burning light shine for all the world to see. Love ya big fella (love ya brother Bernard too) awesome album. alex

  • haha nice =D

  • 5 people dont know wat a guitar is

  • Such a simple, profound song. I have only recently got hold of Tea and Sympathy and loved the whole album. Then this gem at the end! This live version is poignant and shows a gifted and complex man sharing his human vulnerability.

  • @kim4music i agree, and I am not even a Catholic. ( I'm Wiccan) but human vulnerability goes a long way and is a part of everyone's life. :) I agree with you.

  • @kim4 music so its a good song?? lol

  • this song is amazing i love it and i love Bernard fanning he is amazing what a person can do with a guitar and his voice absolutely amazing

  • This was the biggest hit from his "Tea and Sympathy" album, and he chose to donate all money made from this song to charity (I might be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure it was teenage depression. Depression in general? Something he related to some years earlier following the untimely death of his brother). What a great writer and truly great live performer this man is, check out the aria performance of "Lost and Running" by Powderfinger. Onya Bernie! Fanning coming in from the Vulture Street end...

  • @micktube64: The Pogues Funeral? I can't understand what he says at the beginning. Whose funeral was it?

  • @shimokita2 The Popes funeral - when Pope John Paul the second passed away.

  • @micktube64 - Thank you.

  • Great voice but a wanker

  • @Theaussiecammo that would make a great headstone inscription

  • beautiful.

  • oh just love this one so much... I hope he comes back to us all and continues his song writing!

  • bernard you are an insparation to all musos, specially in Australia!!!!!! your fuckin amazing, i just can't belive such an awesome person as you actually exists, you come from a world of musos mate or how else did u get so epic????? i love it

  • No Bernard... you didn't try to write a hymn...you actually DID write one.

  • Gorgeous, daily prayer..

    Well written Bernard.

  • man everything i feel u can translate to words and im so grateful for what you call 'music', as its so much more to me. I could never express something so beautiful in a million words and am forever grateful i can play this to ALL my loved ones and let them know exactly what im thinking. Its not music, its magic

  • i could never put together a million words that meant so much, nor could i relate them any better to those who mean soooo much. Thankyou so much, whenever i'm so overwhelmed by everyday nuances and feel i can't express myself to those so close to me, i only need to listen to this

  • my god daughter played this for her mother and i when she knew her dad doug was dying it still and will always touch my heart

  • Sad powderfinger and bernard fanning have called it quits, I hope in the future he returns home and to music.

  • does anyone know the chords

  • Brilliant, awesome, and humbling.

  • To be honest.... this awesome song...brougth worm and ligth to my life! Its amazing!!! ZNKS for this master piece of humanity Bernard.

  • I read someone saying that Bernard Fanning is over-rated and talentless, and Dan Sultan is incredible. The few times I've seen Dan Sultan play guitar, he seemed pretty average for a guy that has been playing one since he was four. Bernard is a far more accomplished musician and a more unique vocalist. And he dresses a lot better too.

  • @Adnamira so true!!!!!!!

  • I read someone saying that Bernard Fanning is over-rated and talentless, and Dan Sultan is incredible. • @Adnamira Does Dan Sultan play acoustic guitar, rhythm guitar, (the odd bit of) lead guitar, keyboards and do the vocals to songs about how special certain girls or family members have been in his life, penned by him personally, all in the one live performance? Of course not, very few people do. Bernard is a rare talent, not to say Dan Sultan is not, but this guy is just so well rounded in all aspects of his game. He even rattles a mean tamborine! Jokes aside, his writing is just exceptional.

  • Stunningly beautiful

  • Bernard Fanning is easily one of the most talented musicians!

I was at a powderfinger concert last weekend and he played an acoustic version of 'Nobody Sees'.. I had tears it was that beautiful.

This song is just gorgeous. This is what real music is all about.

  • His voice reminds me alot of Gary Jules. I like it.

  • @psp715 Maybe a fraction like Jules in this song. I see where you're coming from, but to hear Bernard Fanning try "These days", "My Happiness" (written after long distance fight over the phone with girlfriend from the lobby of a US motel) and "Lost and Running" by Powderfinger and you'll get a better idea of what he has to offer vocally. Hey, I'm just happy that an American has stumbled across him and likes him. He writes, sings, plays guitar and keyboards on the majority of Powderfingers tunes.

  • This song makes me feel humble, flawed and every bit human. Beautiful song Bernard. True talent my man.

  • so many aussie artists don't get the recognition they deserve internationally.....a lot of the times other "super stars" will cover it, and they get more recognition! Come on people, Australia might not have a huge population but they have done soo much for the music world!!! I like to think we have one of the most diverse music cultures!!! It's not all about hip hop rap money and bitches......it's about the ACTUAL MUSIC and having a MEANING behind the words!!!!!

  • muito bom

  • my boyfriend sent this song to me when my grandfather died, it's a hard song to listen to, but it's so amazing i can't help but listen to it, even when tears are streaming down my cheeks

R.I.P.Grandad, i know you watch over all of us ♥

  • has alot in common with vedder, beautiful, soulful voice, awesome melodies and greats lyricist, seen both in concert and both will change a part of your soul

  • I like it!!!!!!!!!!!! itunes donwloading =D

  • Just gorgeous.....

  • Great song !

  • "... the single release is to raise money for Youngcare but also to raise awareness of the terrible situation that these young people face", referring to children forced to live in aged facilities. This is the 'Official' explanation for the song, as all proceeds from its sale went to Youngcare.

    btw - musical genius!

  • Stunning talent. Powderfinger are awesome but Bernie is on another level again.

  • he truely is amazing. we are very blessed to have such an inspiring artist to listen to when we need a boost to make us feel better, it's like he's written the song for us personally. wonderful human being...

  • Awesome song!! On the offical Powder Finger website it says this song is dedicated to his best mates gf who has MS. I also have MS so I think it is absolutely beautiful xoxo

  • @melisaw1003 All the best to you darling. Hope you are controlling things to the best of your ability and my love and best wishes are with you. And you're right, it is an awesome song - if only I had 1/100th the ability of Bernie... Stay well sweetheart. Mick.

  • wtf!...in another vid he said it was about the salvo's,this one he says its about JC...c'mon bernard which one is it...lol

  • i get chills when i listen to this song, amazing song

  • AWESOME SONG!!!!!!!!!!

  • Now that we're all coming to terms with the sadness that Powderfinger are calling it quits, we can only hope that Bernard Fanning will continue on as a solo act. He is a truly outstanding Australian artist, and this will ALWAYS be my favourite song of his! Love ya Bernie.

  • I constantly listen to this song......and i can never get past the pure beauty of if! The music is simple but touching. The lyrics touch the heart and speak to u! Yes I am full of cliches but then i am not Bernard Fanning lol
