  • Name of the song ?

  • @kostaspaschalis I don't know the name of this particular song, but the melody comes from Värmlandsvisan, a folksong in the county of Värmland, Sweden... where I live. Awesome to find the melody in one of those vids! :)

  • @deepblue52 I have been looking and i cannot find it! if you'd help me i would be thankfull

  • @kostaspaschalis Ok, so this is another version of it... But has the same melody in a different sound ---> watch?v=XzMLnreaUrg <--- I will try to find the one that sounds like the one in this clip

  • @judaserebus lol my bad... didn't even read it... thanks haha

  • what is the song?

  • @xTHEASSASSINOx Dude, see the most rated comment?

  • Chris is my idol and my inspiration. Climb on!

  • How is the soundtrack called?? It is perfect for the video

  • @seddancal yeah what is the song called? someone please :O

  • This is why he's my favorite climber.

  • sick

  • hahaha why did he name those routes those names he said in the beginning? Im glad he saw the rediculousness of them

  • Man... pre-placed quickdraws? As if sport climbing wasn't predictable enough.

  • @develupa o.O did you really just diss on him for pre-placing draws on a 9a+??

  • @develupa Did you really just diss on him for pre-placing draws on a 9a+?

  • @judaserebus I did... but unfortunately I'm bad at relaying my sarcasm on the internet...

rewrite: "Man... pre-placed quickdraws? As if sport climbing wasn't predictable enough." *sarcasm*

  • That was heart stopping! But I felt cheated..... all foreplay.... no end!!

  • I watch this every day.

  • thumbs up for the Sharma Grunt

  • incredible power

  • now thats just wicked! They must be people from another world or something, totally incredible

  • Whats the name of the song! it's driving me crazy so relaxing, perfect for climbing.

  • What always surprises me from these videos is the camera... I mean how the hell do they do it to follow him from the top of his head? Are they already in the top and they zoom or something?

  • @The4lbe the are flying (super powers I guess?)

  • @The4lbe they repel down

  • @The4lbe There is another climber trailing him with a HUGE camera extension that goes up about 9 feet and looks down so he can keep it at perfect head level. Obviously the guys climbing with Chris are the real pros...dont see why he gets so much credit.

  • @brownkv081 The camera crew do not climb when they film. LIke 1brownhill said they rap (abseil down) to the desired part of the climb to film. There are very few if any guys that can climb Chris's climbs, many of his first ascents remain unrepeated.

  • @thetubemeister82 I guess the idea of a nine foot camera extension did sound a little to believable for it to be fiction

  • @brownkv081 Haha! :-)

  • @The4lbe pretty easy really, they just abb down the route and cos its overhanging simply sit in mid air and film...you can see the camera mans abb line at 7:02

  • @The4lbe

    Helicopter

  • @The4lbe There is a guy solo climbing before Chris. He's got Liliput with camera in his backpack. If you want a proof notice that he clips clippers for Chris. Route is not hard, Chris is just acting it. It's not even overhanged, it's all camera tricks.

  • @LimonadovyJoee ur an idiot

  • @LimonadovyJoee

And how could Chris make the first ascent if there has been somebody before?

    @The4lbe

Thy guy who films, hangs in a rope wich is fixed somewhere at the top of the route and he can be let down or pulled up to film Chris :)

Sry for my bad english :(

German guy wanted to explain how it works :D

  • @The4lbe its usually a crane arm swinging over the side of the cliff

  • @The4lbe they use a crane

  • @The4lbe , Yes they are on the top, but they don't climb the route, they are hanging on ropes, and of course they zoom. They walk by-pass the wall and then they delve above him.

  • @The4lbe they use a ropes system set up so that the photographer/filmer can take a steady shot of his ascent

  • @The4lbe telephoto lens

  • chris sharma half man half chimb

  • The hardest part of the route is to get the dogs to shut up....

  • Damnable curses....great job Sharma...you are a rock monster!

  • I bet his handshake is killer.

  • @CKnapp12345 haha no ive met him its normal hes a really nice guy always walks around with a smile and you would never suspect that, that guy posses that inside of him its amazing

  • @CKnapp12345 haha no ive met him its not hard i was thinking the same thing before i shook his hand but its normal haha. hes a really nice guy always walks around with a smile and you would never suspect that, that guy posses that inside of him its amazing

  • @CKnapp12345 It is =)

  • 8 people aren't able to send 5.6 inside so they disliked because this guy is leading 5.15 outside :D (He's fucking good and good technic :) I hope to climb like that one day... I'm still in my 5.11 :S)

  • @SvensonStrakovsky explain your point

  • @nickTAMR Ok, but first: I don't know you and so I can't appraise you...

But I think that you haven't understood the philosophy of climbing, when you say the difficulty is most important.

At least your comment sounds so...Sorry for my not perfect English, I'm not from GB :-)

  • @nickTAMR Sorry, i didn't want to affront you....

  • I'd like to see a vdieo of him doing the bolting...

  • haha he sounds like link when he yells

  • this video has 1/4 milion views, some average chick on a plastic wall has almost 1.5 million views, people are so silly :D!

  • i bet he's good at twister

  • he was off belay for a period of time?

  • Yes. Brain cell death is highly correlated with cruxes. Speaking for myself.

  • Comments on yelling: Google 'Valsalva maneuver' (spelling?). Certain kinds of grunts and yelling actually physically help execute strong moves. Why do you think Olympic weightlifter all do it. Seriously. So you can be quiet now. He's a pro doing what works best.

  • @whaaaaateverful its my impression that yelling tightens up your core, and turns your body into 1 single unit, so you can execture a move with all your power

  • @MrMbogza Exactly. It's possible to do it without yelling but many athletes find it easier with the vocalizations. But you can't expect people on Youtube to actually be intelligent or educated, right?...

  • and plus it promotes breathing, so your muscles can get enough oxygen :) . i mean when i climb i still grunt a little, but never as loud as sharma

  • @MrMbogza You *breathe* when you climb? Isn't that cheating?

  • @whaaaaateverful no my gym allows it(need to get special permission though), but idk about other gyms in the area.... what i meant to say is screaming forces you not to hold your breath like many people do when the going gets though :)

  • Why does he scream so much when climbing? Like seriously, have you ever heard Magnus Midtbø make a single sound during these same climbs that Sharma is doing?

  • @LitoSophe

everybody has their own style. if it helps him make those moves than so be it.

  • 7 people obviously have their head up there ass

  • @DisorderlyMonkeyProd That's the sound of passion ;)

  • hmmm i always wonder when i see chris clmbs the quick draws are already there o.o who puts them up?

  • @BeatboxSTeoX Chris bolts a lot of his routes himself...

  • Siderman has nothing on this guy

  • CLimbs like a monkey, sounds like an elephant..

  • how do those anchors (not sure what the are called) get put in place in the first place?

  • @morgantheron1 they're called bolts and the way they are set up is a guy with a drill sets up an anchor from the top of the route then just repels or trad climbs (with natural protection) brings a drill and the required amount of bolts then puts the bolts where they should go :0

  • @bushfield85 thanks a lot

  • Would have been even better if the people in the background would have shut the hell up for 2 seconds.

  • did someone ever saw spiderman and chris sharma in the same room?

  • hey guys, i just want to know something. I am a beginning climber, and i just want to know what other gear you need besides a harness, ATC, chalk bag if you go on a climbing trip... oh and HOW DO YOU GET BETTER AT CLIMBING??

  • @101rugbyplayer

The gear you need depends on the type of climbing you want to do and what type the people you are going with have. A lot of people are willingly to share their gear. What you listed is a good start for personal gear, but you definitely want shoes. I would try to find a group of experienced climbers you trust or get into a class to learn the basics of climbing. it takes alot more to get out there than just buying gear.

as for being a better climber... CLIMB!!

  • @101rugbyplayer First of all, don't try to get any serious advice on Youtube. However, I'll try to answer your question. For gym climbing, that's about all you need (if you have climbing shoes). For outdoor climbing, you need a lot more (quickdraws, aid rope, slings, biners...) and you especially need to know how to use everything. I advice you to go climbing with experienced people/friends or follow an educatoional course.

  • @101rugbyplayer Try to find the dvd's 'Improve Your Climbing' and 'Sportclimbing 101' for some good lessons. Try to climb alot with advanced climbers and most of all: Have fun and just climb as much as possible!

  • his noises remind me of captain falcon... or link...

  • Who puts the first safety holds and quick draws in to the side of the mountains?

  • @TheMegaAK he does

  • @TheMegaAK

Other climbers, or the climber that is climbing the route will rappel down from the top and drill holes in the rock and fill them with bolts. In addition, on many very hard routes, what some consider to be "projects", people leave the draws up because it is too hard to take the time to remove the draw from your harness, so they just clip the rope. Many routes were originally bolted in the 80s when areas were being established.

  • @IC3M4NX Thanks a lot! Thats pretty much what i had guessed, but much better :)

  • Now what needs to happen is to have Sharma and his partner of choice see if they can match the Huber brothers free ascent of Eternal Flame (VI 5.13a) on Trango tower. Someone's got to get this machine into the high mountains. Maybe he and his climbing partner can do the first free ascent of Five Years to Paradise on Trango tower (VI 5.10b A2).

  • Avg climber: holy crap this hold is terrible!

Chris: ooh my god this feels so good

  • Sick Climb! and Love that Sharma is repping the Pontas

  • @GPClimb he kind of designed them.

  • Can they shut up, I havn't finished to watch the video but holy hell let him climb without opening your mouth every 5 second!

  • I am new to climbing, so I was just wondering what the 5.15 meant?

  • @cubemaster28 5.15 is the rating system for lead/top rope climbing. The higher the number, the higher the difficulty. What Sharma is doing right now is one level lower than ascending a mirror.

  • @oceancloud9 Hahaha. Word.

  • Huge balls!!...only seeing this video makes me sweat like a pig in a slaughter house!!

  • No disrespect to Sharma because he is AMAZING but does he have to shout like he is being stabbed when he reaches for a hold. Before anyone tears me apart I realize that what he does is near super human.

  • @kjdiephouse it helps to yell. Its kind of puts more energy into each move, and whenever you hear someone climbing at their limit they tend to start screaming lol. I get that some peoples climbing sounds can sound a little annoying though :P

  • 6:02 ...omg!! This "jump" into such a small grip, awesome!

  • Couldnt even do the first moves. so nuts the whole video is nuts

  • 15d is the hardest that has been climbed yet. A climb is given a grade by the person who climbs it first and is often then negotiated by others who climb it. the scale is 5.6 through 5.9 and then 5 10 a,b,c, and d and so forth until 15. You should wiki the climbing scale. climbing is generally considered hard or advanced at around the 5 12 area. pros send 13s and 14s.

  • impressive, the higher the harder. Chris Sharma is aweesome

  • I beat Sharma in a thumb war. That is all.

  • I love the part where the music stops and the pure brutality of climbing becomes apparent.

  • i like the way he moves.....thumbs up if you do too

  • how is the guy filming it? how is he following along?

  • @Nlghtxhawk A lot of ropes and pulleys. It's pretty cool how creative they can get when they're filming climbs.

  • @louiejack6 I watched another video on it and they just stuck a guy way up in a tree with a camera pretty cool stuff.

  • @Nlghtxhawk Yeah, I've seen stuff like that for other climbs. It's nice to have different angles on climbs instead of just shooting from the ground. It really shows the difficulty and beauty of routes like this.

  • @louiejack6 Any chance you know how these climbs are rated? what makes it a 5.15? what's the highest it can be? what defines a hard climb apart from the obvious?

  • @Nlghtxhawk The 5.15 is a rating based on the Yosemite Decimal System. It starts at 5.1 and goes all the way up to 5.15. Once you get to 5.10, there are also letters associated with the rating. The letters are a,b,c, and d with a being the "easiest" and d being the "hardest". As of right now, I think the highest rated climbs are 5.15b. 5.15 climbs tend to border on the edge of the impossible. It's hard to define the difference. You just have to climb I guess.

  • @louiejack6 I see, so I guess that means that the guys who make the first ascent get to rate the climb?

  • Very Very show ...

  • ***** inspiring indeed ***** *****

  • ...glad I was eating a sandwich while watching this...something to absorb the sweat from my fingers...haha

  • @reggie1989tf Haha, I just noticed my fingers were also sweating like crazy

  • very nice, very nice

    Is he stoned?

    :D

  • gecko much

  • Holy poop that looks hard, even for him.

  • im liking the backround music. What is it?

  • gotta make noises brotha

  • My hands are sweating.

  • 200000viewers for one guy who is only climbing and 2000 viewers for real Pacha Mama people who are trying to change the world for better...
