I can't believe it's been two years since I found out that Roi was gone. I remember that day like it was yesterday...Such stunning news that it didn't fully hit me until I saw the photos of the band without him. Thanks in part to you, Roi, my life will never be the same. It's been changed for the better, thanks to you and the rest of DMB. The love, the music, the friendships that I've discovered through your music mean so much to me. I know that I'm one among many who feels this way. Thanks...
When I was 12/13 yrs old I'd put # 34 on repeat and fall asleep to it. I would often wake up to Leroi's sax cutting through my dreams in a comforting, but jarring way. I'm 26 now. and I truly miss Roi. We all become family at a certain point. I have lost a member of my extended family. Through his music I feel like I knew him, and a piece of him will live on within me, and within all DMB fans who truly understand and embrace their music. God Bless. Life is short but sweet. DMB: Never stop!
Thank you for posting this. I have been bartending for a very long time and Roi, Dave, and I think Carter came to see a show at the NorVa, Dark Star Orchestra, I think. Anyways, I wanted to name a drink after Roi, and he wouldn't have any sort of it. So EVERY time I pour a bourbon and rocks in my head, that's a Roi. Take care fellas.
Rest In Peace, Roi!!!! Out hearts still ache for you! We all love you so much! Watch over us and keep your brilliant music in our hearts. We miss you. <3
The band is doing a great job of keeping Roi's memory alive. And many thanks to Jeff Coffin for keeping this band rolling without missing a step. Rest in peace LeRoi Moore. You will live on in our hearts and speakers forever!!!!
Great song and great video. A great tribute to a great man and a great musician. This is one of the first times I have not felt mourning but happiness since LeRoi has passed. I miss him but I remember his contribution to the band and that is what gets me through. His music and presence will live on forever. I love you LeRoi Holloway Moore RIP 1961-2008.
I went to see DMB play this summer at Fenway. Needless to say, it was mindblowing. But something was missing. It was Roi. The whole concert, this certain energy just wasn't there. He is so obviously missed. I don't think DMB will ever sound quite the same without him. Rest in peace Roi!!!! Stage left <3
You are the reason I want to teach music to children- to pass on the gift that you obviously had in you. You inspire me. Any students I teach will know you you were. I promise.
He does not have two prosthetic legs, that shot is from the I Did it video, and what you googled was from Judah Friedlander's website, he was joking, read the rest of the paragraph, he also says all of the members of the band have twins..... jeez people
You are correct. He was in an ATV accident on his property in ??Virginia. Somewhat recovered. Went to Los Angeles where he want to do his rehab. Unfortunately a blood clot is what caused his death. :(
I could be remembering this wrong so someone correct me but I believe he suffered injuries from a four-wheeler accident and then had complications from those injuries resulting in his death later on. Something to that effect.
I was at the 5/30/09 show at Fenway Park and it was so amazing yet still left a void in the night...LeRoi you are missed but I know you're belting out the tunes upstairs while your brothers belt it out below. REST EASY LEROI...we all miss you and love you.
After LeRoi Moore died in August 2008, #34 was used as the backing track to a photo and video montage of the musician that was played during the encore break of performances by the band at the last two venues of the 2008 summer tour.
"#34" was featured as an instrumental piece on their debut album, Under the Table and Dreaming. The song was inspired by and written for Miguel Valdez, a percussionist who collaborated with the band in 1992 and died due to hepatitis in 1993.[1] Dave Matthews co-wrote the song with Haines Fullerton, another collaborator, who later took his own life in September 1996. On the album, the song is "hidden" as track number 34, with 22 blank tracks between its previous track, "Pay for What You Get."
this is really touching. ive seen him at spac every year for 6 years now. it was awesome... im seeing them the 12th and 13th at spac this month! i cant wait!
Hard pill to swallow. Tough to know, i'll never actually see this legend live in concert. He brought some amazing tunes to life, and he seems to have been a human being with a larger than large, heart. All my respect and love go his way, and my condolences to his family and friends, not to mention all of his fans.
i will never see him live either, what a great man he was. i see them live for the first time in september, actually my first concert i actually wanted to see. haha 14
I can still hear LeRoi every time I pick up my sax. He will always be my #1 musical hero. I know there are lots of other young sax players out there who would say the same thing.

My first Dave Matthew's band show was in 2006 at Fenway Park. I was there the second night and was fortunate enough to hear Roi and Rashawn trade solos during Crush. It's amazing how he could speak through his saxophone. He is and always will be my favorite saxophone player.
Fantastic video...I definitely shed some tears when I heard the news. We miss you LeRoi...what's so special is that you'll always have a piece of him in your music, he's everywhere!
It was your solo that caught the most of my attention in the 1st dmb song i heard, 'ants marching,' and lead me to discover my favorite band in my lifetime so far.. the music u shared has given me confidence that u are certainly a friend in spirit.. thank u so much for the memories LeRoi. You are missed, but also very much and always will be appreciated.. not only by the great group of musicians you played with, but also by the real fans who have found a true beauty in ur music. :)

Not seeing Roi in C-ville was so hard. We all still miss you so much... and always will. Don't know if I'll ever make it through this montage without tearing up. To 'Roi's family- you're still in our thoughts and prayers.
John 5:28-29 (New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures)
28 Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.
Gone too soon. He made a beautiful noise, righteous and clean and soulful. We won't hear his like again. But, who knows where he will show up again, and we can be happy about that. The big wheel never stops turning... Peace, y'all.
its a different song. Called #34 and only true dave fans know it. It was a "hidden" track on "Under The Table and Dreaming. Not really hiddne because it WAS listed, however after the last track, you had to let the CD skip track by track to track #34......clever.
Oh LeRoi. I am so sorry I never got to see you in person. I have wanted to see DMB for years but never could get tickets. Here's hoping we meet the Great Beyond. God bless.
Thanks for sharing this with us.. Leroy will be missed in body but his music will be with us in our hearts. God Bless you Guys that share their GIFT of music with the world.... woohoo DMB
if you don't have anything nice to say don't waste our time just don't post anything at all. He was a great guy and we will miss him forever. RIP LeRoi.
thank you for sharing! His heart and soul will be missed on stage and in studio. I look forward to hearing the knew album and his influences in the early sessions. Although great musicians will be substituted this summer the right side of the stage will be slightly empty. Can't wait for the Fenway visit.
I loved classic rock growing up, was raised on blugrass and studied the sax.The DMB has been my Favorite ever since I heard them on a CD after my own bands first sold out gig. I loved classic rock growing up was raised on blugrass and studied the sax. LeRoi has been my greatest inspiration ever since. I'll miss his presence on this earth as long as I live
I have been following this band for the last 13 years...they changed the way I think, the way I paint.
And i finally get to see them only after one of them is gone. I wonder what it will be like without Leroi. Still, I get to see them in London in June :)
I will always respect and listen to you guys. I can't wait till Satuday. I hope that this finds you in good spirits. Roi has a drink named after him in my database of cocktails now. When I print, I will forward you all copies of the book. I miss seeing you guys as much as I used to. EVERY concert gives me that feeling that you would get as a kid going to a really powerful sermon at church. Revjuvination is what I think I'm trying to say. Safe travels and see you soon!
I met you once in a bar that I was working in. The NorVa in Norfolk, VA. You off the bat asked me to call you Roi, that's what your friends called you, you said. I asked to make a drink for you and name it. You refused, but it was cool in a laid back kinda way.
Hard to watch this video even still. We have to remember to be grateful for what he gave. And realize that we only mourn because so much was given in the first place. Love everyone around you because life is too short to take what we have for granted.
Forever Moore.

#34.... this song isn't remotely close to #41 by any stretch of the imagination.

Oh LeRoi. I am so sorry I never got to see you in person. I have wanted to see DMB for years but never could get tickets. Here's hoping we meet the Great Beyond. God bless.

Leroi was a master of blowing on things! Especially on wind instructs, sometimes even on a long skinny flute!!

if you don't have anything nice to say don't waste our time just don't post anything at all.
