@TheSoldiersMind Essentially, yes. The core game is there as well as some sample maps. There also some environment templates there to help you get started.

The things you can accomplish with UDK are unparalleled, for the exception of MMO-style games, since Unreal Engine by default only supports up to 64 players, but you can still create a game with RPG elements for just yourself and some friends. :)

@davenbettridge Youtube isn't the place for that. Have a look around for indie games communities to find people to work with, try games devs if your work is good enough and generally look around to see where your talents can be used. Even if it's a mod of another game, you can use that to add to your portfolio.

Oh and look on forums where Uni games courses have their own site, you might find people starting off who'd appreciate someone joining them. I've had a look, some decent stuff there.

@whiteshadow943 just iOS, you can develop for the iPad and iPhone. You can get the UDK from udk.com. There's also a getting started section with lots of tutorials and information, videos tutorials for download and many resources online for getting help and tips. I'm just learning it myself as I have a game I will be releasing on Steam after it's done. It's quite helpful so far with the getting started guide.

@Poockiy Neither, you can't run unauthorised software on the Xbox 360 and PS3. You'll either need a dev kit or there will be some other way of testing Xbox 360 games on the console. At the very least, you should be able to set restrictions in the UDK and test them on PC with a wired Xbox 360 controller.

If you get something made that's looking to be good quality and worth releasing then you'll have more options available.

@tsukomani Looks are mainly dependent on the artist. Even Crytek would tell you that, the right artist can make a UE3/UDK game look better than a Cryengine game. And I doubt either will become that popular. UDK has been out for almost a year, maybe longer, and still has only been downloaded around 100,000 times. but non the less, the free version of the cryengine sounds promising.

@Duker89 Yes, it's possible. but if you have UT3 make a shortcut to your desktop, then put "editor" in the name. It should work. (no quotes though) or simply download UDK for free. UTE has a lot more models and such, but UDK is newer

UDK is a very very great and flexible program. i think every game designer should know that you have to create the content yourself like FioProHr said don't expect everything to be served on a silver platter. this game engine is the best engine i've worked with by far :) and btw nice video

Better way is to create a gametype using UnrealScript which will be available on all maps (even ones you didn't create yourself - which is a huge advantage over kismet)

You can use it for ANY game you'd like to create. It's an engine and as such can be used for anything from 2d platformes to high detail 3d shooters/rpgs/what not
