  • Haha! inconsiderate camera work at 1.28

Bet the bassist was glad he wasn't actually playing live...

  • pretty sure that only the vocals are live. no one on the stage's playing the main riff in the chorus. this pretty sucks because RFTC were awesome live, and i'm sure it was not their decision, but surely TOTP obliged them to do that.

they were one of the greatest band ever, though.

  • Nice song but RFTC then went downhill fast from here. Hot Snakes were better imo as were Drive Like Jehu, still RFTC cover of 'Press Darlings' is one of the best covers ever imo and 'Circa Now' will always be epic. I would upload some songs of theirs but since they signed to Interscope their catalogue is major-copyrighted and the uber-awesome songs from 'Circa Now' get pulled. Sucks to be succesful.

  • it was 96 not 95..but still they rocked..love that american rock sound..big hit back in the day this :D

  • I knew a girl who was once in a TOTP audience....sounded like a fucking nightmare

  • the best band in the land.

  • they certainly do, rock. Too right, fucking rip it up man.

  • this was their good one

  • Err. I think you'll find they had a LOT of 'good ones' .... Granted this was their biggest and most well known single in the UK.

  • @magicspidercat Clearly you've heard fuck all RFTC

  • I remember watching this on a Friday night whilst waiting to watch Shooting Stars, Friends, etc. This performance really made me sit up and appreciate the genius of RFTC - I bought the single, and all the albums within a matter of weeks. I'm sad that they've called it a day but they've left a great legacy and rocked Reading the 2 times I've seen them there. F**k Julia Carling - she doesn't feel the genius of RFTC.

  • 6th september 1996 i think.

  • My fav ever TOTP performance - legendary thanks lots x

  • Did they do this on TOTP twice? It's a different performance to the one remember...Still good though.

  • you are right cprince10, they must have because the one that I've got on vhs isn't this one.

  • Awesome!

  • Holy shit, top of the pops when it was actually good, when bands like rocket from the crypt and placebo werent ashamed to appear on it

  • I've been looking for this performance for years, thanks so much for putting it up!

I remember watching this aged about 15 and man it was so good. Its about time there was another bunch of bands like this to blast the likes of Scouting For Girls off the face of the earth. God bless the 90s and all the great bands who sailed in her!

  • *shudders*

    "Scouting For Girls"

    *shudders*

I'm all for banning nukes but they deserve one lol

  • well said....glad that some people out there are on my wavelength.

  • do they still make people "mime" the music on this show? I couldn't help but notice speedo wasn't playing his guitar.

  • The dont still do it because this was 1995 and the shows not on anymore

  • Actually it looks a fair bit like the lead singers mic is properly mic'ed up and in the mix but the rest seems like mostly backing track.

  • I think when TOTP first started there wasn't any miming. Then for one reason or another, everything began being mimed during the 80s and some of the 90s.

By this point the vocals were live, everything else was backing.

..then due to complaints, it was all made live again at some stage before it was shut down recently.

Such a shame that the damn music channels overtook in popularity.. I mean who watches that shit?

  • Lovin her comment at the end "I have just got to get that record". I suspect she nearly did, but then went for Enigma: The Greatest Hits instead. This song reminds me of what good pop rock was in the 90's before EMO sucked any credibility out of it. Bring back Terrorvision as well.

  • Haha Enigma's Greatest Hits, that's some good shit

  • @TheClues78 yeah. the days when bands like terrorvision did well (arguably not well enough) in the charts and injected a bit of honest fun pop rock to proceedings. and the fucking radio would actually support it.
