can someone tell me if a 5000kv brushless motor is too much for the Hawk sky? or a 3000kv is also too much. because i can get a 35 amp ESC along with a 5000kv or 3000kv motor please answer :)
You got that down! You ought to check out a Hawkfighter- see them on the killerplanes channel- they fly like a fighter plane on steroids!! You can get the plane as an AARF or get the kits to turn your Hawksky into one- crashproof up to about 50mph in the grass (!!!!)- Happy flying!
that was a really impressive landing , vie just bought a banged up version and fixed it up , was amazed how simple everything is on this plane . good vid (Y)
There is a different model of this now available called the EZ Hawk. Made by the same manufacturer. It lacks the factory installed rudder servo, but has a place to add one and a cahnnel open for it. I'm curious if anyone has tried that version. I'm curious as to how easy it would be to swap out the reciever for a 2.4ghz on it.
@flyguynumber1 yea I have since bought one and swapped it out for a 2.4ghz radio. the only issue that I ran into was that they had glued part of the antenna to the old 72mhz reciever inside teh tail o fthe plane somewhere. I managed to get it free though. maybe mine was a fluke, but it seems silly to have the antenna glued in like that.
This was my second plane and I have to disagree a bit. The roll authority is not what it should be for an aileron trainer. In 12kts gws with gusts to 15, the ailerons weren't able to keep the wings level by themselves. You always need a little rudder. Forget about barrel rolls or even inverted flight without modifications. Problem #2, the power is not where it should be for a trainer. Us noobs need plenty of KV in reserve to get us out of those sticky situations....
That's a tough one. They both glide great. They are both equally durable. Spare parts are available for both. For me, if I could only buy one of them, I would choose the Hawk Sky only because it is much cheaper. I hope this helps. Everyone is different.
BTW - Power is a dynamic quality. A motor change can make either one of them a rocket. Stock vs Stock, the HS is much, much faster.
Oh, you are referring to my comment close to the end of the video. My EZ* has a much more powerful motor than stock. Therefore, I made reference to the HS not having the power that my (modified) EZ* does. Is that cleared up now?
Interesting ... some people claim this flies just as good as their mod Easy Star. Perhaps you have your EZ ultra souped up! ;-)
I think I'm about ready to pull the trigger on this one as my first plane. I've got plenty of hours on the sim and can fly most anything it throws at me. Getting bored and jones'n for the real thing.
just about the best plane for not a lot of outlay -(AND YES, BEGINNERS!!!) noobs are advised to start with 3 channel --(no ailerons)- why? they crash out of control and get frustrated -- aileron planes control much better than rudder -elev. planes- a few things the wildhawk is lacking- bl, lipo, ailerons, i had my BL -lipo- aileronned wildhawk soaring, dive bombing, swooping totally under control yesterday in a breeze that had my ribbon standing straight out- and im a noob!
the hawksky? it comes with a dynam brand balancing lipo charger - no buttons to push and mess up- just plug it in and wait for the led to turn green it is a low amp charger so the lipo will live long

It is exactly the same plane. Receiver swap is simple.

How was the underside after landing on rough gravel like that? Thinking about getting one and modding the hell out of it.
rcflight13 1 year ago
There is a piece of 2mm CF along the whole bottom. No Problem.
flyguynumber1 1 year ago
@flyguynumber1 Thanks, I've always been a little cautious of foam planes. Also is the rudder on the left or right stick?

left stick

HI, I enjoy your video. 5 stars.
Btw, inspired by your flight, I bought this Hawk Sky, but not sure if I should glue the wind as the instruction manual is oversimplifying.
shangsandy87 2 years ago
Glue the wing? I wouldn't I don't know how this aircraft comes but if you don't glue it will have more give in crashes.

Would you recommend this over an Easy Star?
Some people say it has more power than an EZ but I noticed you thought differently.
Hows the durability compared to the EZ?

shangsandy87 2 years ago
That is an EASY call. Hawk Sky (not sky hawk).
