  • derry is penny whise's town isn't it? I'm from italy and i wish to see that place.. anyways irish folk music is the best after pizzica of south of Italy... love the dancers!!!!

  • @8PeRsEo3 I agree, Irish folk is the best there is, but Europe as a whole has alot of beautiful folk music :)

  • This dancing is not an Irish dancing.

It is called "Ottawa Valley dance" and

this was performed by Canadian people.

Actually I have met them twice in Fukuoka,Japan.

    Both dancings are really great!!...

  • @yosti2007 LOL no it's not, this is Irish sean-nós dancing!

  • More ridiculous than dancing?: someone putting a rat down someone trousers - bet the rat was happy to be away from the smell of stinking hands!

  • Just wish I was there....

  • well...the one with the rat is an ignorant...I'm from colombia and i think this is a beautiful music...a beautiful culture...and the dancing is Amazing you can't be more wrong

  • Awesome! :) I love that Irish dancing can look put together and spontaneous at the same time.

  • omg... this is more fun than Riverdance...

  • So easy, even a cave man (stage right) can do it.

  • saw them with this show in derry october 2008 it was brilliant the male dancers are frence canandian amazing. best group ever

  • Saw them 03/09/10 here in my city & they blew me away! :O I was very surprised & pleased by all of them! :)

  • The tune is "Miss Macleods Reel"

  • Macleod is it scottish?

  • Anyone know what tune this is? I want to learn it.

  • I was there! My mom was dancing with a crew from Lafayette, LA! Great Show!

  • If your from Ireland this will prob remind you of the craic at the disco part of a wedding, when they start playing the Irish music (songs like Galway girl) and everyone is pissed and trying their hand at a bit of the Irish dancing...always good times!

  • ha ha weddings? aa bai ta dont need wedding for this sorta crack ...just get out there and give er a blast ....sure its only for a bitta fun ...cheers !!!

  • oh khom on ye all!

the lord of the dance is but a mere phantom compared to theese guys.

pure energy and emotion, ma feet itch'n'twitch when i see dem dance. they've got soul, spirit - call it what u like. damn, makes me wanna dance with dem!

    NaXxOw - well said)

  • i agree with vampytooth. i could pass the jeans but no chance with your arms waving all around!!!

  • The guy on the left looks like he came straight out of the 70s.

  • You wouldn't like them doing the dance routine sitting on chairs then! It was phenomenal!

  • waving hands and jeans??? no i dont like it, im a trad irish dancer and this will never do!!!!

  • Its more important the Spirit and the entushiasm

that the clothes nobody can wear, celtic boy ;)

  • ur english what would u no

  • Actually only the woman was doing irish dancing. the man, at least the man without the beard was doing a folk dance from Canada. I think the Ottawa area

  • Yeah, that's more Canadian or Applachian-style stepping. Even the woman, with the arms waving all around...damn Flatley influence, with his little arm positions and movements coming out of that damned bullfighter jacket...jeez.

  • dude. get over it.

Isn't that Cara Butler? I love her!

  • Then arms held tight and firm against the body with only lower body movement?

That is the wrong view of trad stepdance as Sean-nos dance doesn't have that requirement.

  • Looks like fun! I so badly want to learn how to dance like that.

  • That first guy in the video looks like the caveman from the Gaico commercials

  • Funny , but you are right !LOL

  • Really does work his gluets..lol

  • Irish dance the best

  • was that one of the geico cavemen dancing

  • ya..its d typical old scot n irish dance... but d couple dancin is missin here..

  • probably Nova Scotian

  • they look like they are having fun...but irish dancing....NOT!!!

  • Irish dancing - Yes

The way it was before the priests restricted the hand movements

  • I wanna dance like this!!! I will definately sign up for an irish dance course :)Cheers!

  • oh i saw this show..it was amazing!

  • I think that this is Ottowa Valley step dancing (canadian)...that is why there is the variation with the arms (moving around-body position different than in strictly Irish step dancing)

  • this definitely doesn't lokk like irish dance, just have a look at there arms and legs moving all over the place :-) the music is great though!

  • It could be. Or even Appalacian step dancing. In England there is also Northern clog dancing where dancers dance in clogs that miners used in the pits and this looks similar as well. Either way, I theorise that these dance styles are all connected in some way by golden threads of the ordinary working peoples folk traditions origionaly from the British isles and Ireland and given its own flavour in the new world. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

  • Does anyone know where this was filmed. It looks very much like the NIA in Birmingham to me and I was there if it was.

  • Irish dancing in jeans.. it's just so..

  • i know.

  • I wonder if this redheaded woman knows how much I am in love with her...probably not

  • She's taken by the guy on the left(Jon). Cara is pretty amazing though! (:

  • Also this is Cara Butler.
