very true! vegan diets are very healthy and make you feel very good! im not vegan but I am on a gluten free diet(kind of have to) but besides that eliminating things that are processed and eat organic stuff makes you feel great. sometimes i eat vegan though. i have to say im not like religious about it cause I do eat some junk food that happens to be gluten free.
I like seeing you serious! I'm a vegetarian too, but I would like to be a vegan, but it's hard! I would take so much time, I still have a life haha. But you're awesome, keep up the good work!
I've been a vegetarian for years for moral reasons and i'm looking at going vegan to decrease my fat content (i love milk!). i just wanted to say thank you because i think i will follow your idea of having a day off a week where i can have a little something :) Thanks!
I have been a vegetarian for a few months now. As long as you make sure you get enough protein, it really does make you feel healthier and you have enough energy. If you want to become a vegetarian, or vegan, you can start small by cutting out only red meats at first. Or you can cut out all meat and still eat fish (I do this). Or you can give yourself 1 or 2 cheat days like Jenna does. Either way, I deffinatly recommend it. If anyone wants any tips you can ask me. ^^
@podlypants I think that B12 thing is a myth. I drink those Naked Juice drinks(Non-GMO, Gluten free, vegan) and the Berry Veggie one has B12 listed on the bottle. So there must be a vegan solution, I just don't know what it is.
this is a pretty ingenious diet plan. i tried doing vegan a long time ago and lasted about a week.. lol. but then i went vegetarian and lasted a few years. i recently went back to it, but almost immediately afterwords i had to see an endocrinologist, and he put me on a ketogenic diet for insulin resistance.. soo.. i basically survive off of meat and cheese and eggs. its the most anti vegan diet on earth. but, i only have about 20 carbs a day. in a month, i've lost about 12 lbs. whatever works :)
I've been trying to think of a weekly eating system to get healthier at home and at school so i just wanna thank you so much for the tips! I might end up having 2 cheat days though, hehe ^^" but again, I just wanna say thanks for the help and I love your videos!
My Mom raised my brother and myself as vegetarians . I'm almost 14 and i've been a vegetarian since I was born . Never had a piece of meat . You CAN do it . One of the most irritating questions is what do you eat? I could name food for years . I eat too much , without eating meat! Just expand your variety of foods and you can find a lot .
@greenorangeviolet there are so many ways to get protein, like jenna said there is soy products. You also can get protein from nuts and legumes (beans). vegitarians can also get protein from eggs as well. You can drink protein shakes too.
Hey Jenna! I just dont know how you do to live without (or almost without) meat. It wouldnt be good for me to do the same thing as you, since Im only 13 now, but I still want to look good, and skinny, and well, like you. Im not fat or anything, or don't think I am, but Id still like to have more energy, and everything... I dont want to be a freak of no meat, because I know i'm still growing, and that it's important, but Id like to me more happy with my diet, with my exercise.. Got tricks ?!?
@elofacebook don't eat foods that cause the sugar level to rise and you won't have to think about having too little energy/feeling tired/sleepy in the middle of the day... it's called the Montignac Method if you wish to get deeper into it
Get your facts straight. Do you know how many food combinations you can use to create a complete protein? Ever heard of quinoa? It's a complete protein in itself. If being vegan was so bad then how come statistics show that vegans live at least ten years longer than omnivores? Do you know whats in meat these days? Cows aren't the same as they were 50 years ago. They are supposed to eat grass, but now they are forced to eat genetically modified corn.
If you know much about physiology you know eating no meat at all is retarded. Vegetables/fruits do not contain a complete amino acid profile, which is essential for our health ( aka protein synthesis )
- fats should be eaten EVERY meal no matter what your goals ( unsaturated mostly )
- protein should be eaten EVERY meal ( not from meat every time)
- Carbs should be eaten in a manner that keeps insulin levels stable all day.
- Google is your friend. Proper P/C/F ratios differ person to person
also I lost 20lbs before and I did it by eating 6 small meals a day but for some reason I just can't make myself do that again. Also a lot of "Tai Kitchen" meals are vegan and they're pretty good
@sandwichgirlJ Hey - I'm trying to find ways for my boyfriend to lose weight (he's a big guy and it's hard for him to have discipline, but I think this strategy sounds really cool -- could you tell me what constitues a "small meal"? What kind of foods? (He's super picky and gets hungry at really weird times) Please let me know either in comments of a pm - Thanks so much <3
@kikinotuma If you try to keep each meal to 300 calories or less you can eat every 2 or 3 hours (or 5 or 6 times a day) which keeps you from getting hungry while keeping your daily calorie intake down. Cut calories where ever you can. Mini bagels instead of regular ones...lite bread thats 35 calories a slice instead of 100..rice noodles instead of raman noodles, Tai Kitchen, Lean Cuisines, Lean Pockets, rice cakes, I Can' Believe Its Not Butter...don't eat anything deep fried.
@sandwichgirlJ I lost 20 pounds this way and kept if off for like a year but then I got a boyfriend and started going out for burgers and french fries all the time and gained it back. We're food enablers...we make each other fat. I'm trying to go back to my old habits again, like ordering a salad at restaurants and skipping the fries. You can't eat junk food and expect to lose weight. Food addiction is hard to fight. The temptation is always there.
you're a vegan for 6 out of 7 days? that's genius! I tried being a vegan for 2 weeks and I was eating food that I really enjoyed but I was starving all the time so I couldn't keep it up. My cousin was vegan for a lot longer but he had to eat constantly because of the lack of protien and fat and he was sort of a bum so he had to stop that diet when he couldn't con anybody into making vegan food for him.
Thank u for sharing ur tips, i think i really may try cutting out meats. id like to lose weight and feel better and more energtetic. u look great, ur a beautiful girl and i enjoy ur videos and ur personality :)
I've been doing that with spinach too! It was actually because I buy this huge thing of spinach at sam's club and can't eat it fast enough before it goes bad- so I put it in freaking everything, including my smoothies.
Basically vegan? awesome! did not see that coming. And mostly raw... aside from the extremely unhealthy microowave part of it but who cares after all the rest beign aweosme :) I'm vegan too, and compleeetele agree: boosts your energy so much, after finally adjusting to it, you just end up loving it :)
Thumbs up to you girl! (old video i know! but just saw it :P haha)
Kudos to being realistic, "if you're hungry, eat." Thank you, I was a weight loss consultant for a long time and the biggest challenge was convincing people if your snack is healthy, feed yourself! Thanks!
SO. I just watched the very beggining of this video and I just want to let you know that your dog is extremely cute, and I'm really excited to see it on here. I have several Miniature Greyhounds as well. :D
Anyone wanting to go Vegan or Vegetarian look it's not that hard. Im a Vegetarian.. I don't work out and I eat just about anything but meat I never gain a fucking pound! It's epic.. I eat anything but fish and meat it's super simple.. And I rape Morning Star for a living C:
Would not have pegged jenna as a vegan, thats so awesome! you go girl. Ive been vegan for like 6 years and its the best thing ive ever done for myself. What she said about her body feeling different is legit. and the myth that theres no protien in eating this way is false. duh.
People can be so blind! Meat and cheese isn't the only existing food in the world. I would never give up vegetarianism. I respect her a lot more from the the day first saw one of her videos. I'm allergic to most of my protein sources as a vegetarian (soy, chick peas, beans, nuts), and I was 5'3" 85 lbs a year ago. I'm 5'5" 125 lbs after hard hard work :)
Ummmm I've seen her flex her biceps....doesn't look like she's losing any muscle mass...plus if she uses protein powder she's just fine. It also sounds like she has done lots of research and knows what's good for her body. I mean obviously cuz look at her. Good job Jenna!!!! You rock!!!!
I eat healthy too. But I believe the main thing is to avoid processed food, & eating real whole food, rather than how much fat or meat or carbs you're eating. The diet dogmas are stupid, there are many ways to eat healthy, not just one. Also depends on the individual.
I personally eat homemade stoup (stew/soup lol), eggs with veggies, quinoa w/ honey, & fruits.
Thanks for setting people straight about vegan diets. People are always like, "omg you're vegan? But how are you not unhealthy and sick?" No, people, it's actually WAY healthier for you! Plus if you're a crazy animal freak like me you don't have to feel guilty when you eat:P
Check out nutritional yeast. High in protein, vegan, and has a nutty cheese flavor. I air pop popcorn and spritz it with olive oil and sprinkle the nutritional yeast.
i'm a vegan but i'm one of those unhealthy vegans. it's hard for me to eat really healthy. salads or soups everyday makes me crazy just thinking about it. but perhaps i'll try it. because i'm tired even though i'm on the vegan diet. i don't work out and i eat unhealthy vegan things.
It's easier to stick to a vegan diet if it's for moral reasons. I had no will power around Mcdonald's chicken mcnuggets; then i saw slaughterhouse videos, and i stay away from that shit now! If you do your research on that stuff, it's so easy to not eat animal products.
I've been vegetarian for about a year now, but now i'm going to do the "vegan 6 times a week" thing and have a vegetarian cheat day.
Thank you for your words of wisdom miss Jenna Marbles. :)
you can still look good without eating practically nothing. The vegan diet is pretty extreme, but I think you definitely get smaller. I know I need fish and meat. YUM. portions and self control is what keeps me in shape. Right now I'm a fat ass. I just had a hamburger and fries and the other day I ate a whole pizza. Bad month. Breakup. But the best thing is you can always lose weight!! It's always possible!!
Ive been a vegetarian for a year and I dont know if Id say I have more energy, but I get tired less. I don't have any problems with craving meat, but my biggest problem are candies and pastas. Those are foods I never get enough of. So on friday after school its like my break day. Like I have the weekend and I let myself relax from working out. My regular workout is jumping rope. I jumprope 300 times or more if I don't feel tired. So I stay away completely from candies or pastas or I lose it.
Ive been vegetarian for 1.5 years now and I agree, u have a TON more energy. I do eat fishthough cuz shrimp and sushi are my life :). It's just like getting all of you protein and nutrients from meat in another form minus the fat, oil and sodium. I swim 3 days a week for 1.5 hours and don't really do much other days. Well I 13 so I don't really have to worry about that yet :). But just dance and zumba are great to its also tons of fun! I've kind of always wanted to be vegan but my mom won't
@shukla714 Yeah, um. I have to say it's pretty much exactly the same for me. I mean-- I subsist mainly off of berries, and when I do have bread with peanut butter it is just euphoric. Which was never the case when I ate whatever I wanted, so it probably has to do with the high fat and carb content. But. It is really really good.
I totally dig the vegan diet. With the one day a week to eat your meat. I have basically been doing the same for 6 months and have lost 32lbs so yea. Obviously it's working for her. Her skin glows, her eyes glow. It's one of those things you do it if you want and if not then eat your honkin steak. Whatever.
It works as a diet, but there are other healthy ways about it too. Not a bad attitude though there's nothing wrong with meat or byproducts if you prep it healthily too.
The Veganomicon, Vegan Girls Guide To Life, and Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World are my favorite Vegan cookbooks and they have TONS of recipes. The cupcake one has over 75 recipes, and that's the small book
i've been a vegitarian all my life and i've never been tempted by meat but i always worried that it was unhealthy. So I'm glad to know that its been doing my body good :D
I've been considering going vegan, I don't really like meat anyways. Makes me feel better to see someone that is healthy and mostly sane doing this type of diet.
such an awesome video. i've been making smoothies for breakfast and have almost gone fully vegan over the last month, and i've lost almost 10 pounds. hell yes to healthy eating.
Thnx jenna. Im gunna sart off at one or two vegan days and see where it takes me. Ive been trying to get in shape and i think you just saved me from obesity. You are super sexy.
I was curious to see what your diet is like, and I'm really surprised...I eat like the same!, but not avidly vegan. Good job on your diet, seriously. You're fucking sexayyy too :D
All the people argueing below me need to shut the fuck up. Watch the video, if you didn't want to know about Jenna's diet, then why the fuck did you click on the video. Seriously. No.
I watched this while eating a slice of cake, but good for you Jenna its nice that you stuck with the Vegan diet because it made your body feel better!
lost my respect for ya... vegan... lame... we have evolved to be smarter animals than the rest and our diet probably played a role in that, im sure a ton of you vegans are going to have a hay day ripping on this but there is a reason we have been eating meat since the beginning of our species...
@paulorustobernardo I'm not vegetarian or vegan, But dude, who the hell are you to judge anyone on their diet? And our species? Our species started eating berries and roots and evolved to hunt.
@LeOpinionatedOne Um, sorry to burst your bubble, babe, but Homo sapiens have ALWAYS been hunter-gatherers, as were many of the hominids that can before us. I'm not judging anyone based on what they put/don't put in their bodies, but fact is fact.
@LiliFromHali Uh, sweetheart, we EVOLVED into Homo Sapiens. Sorry, but yes, facts are facts. Homo Sapiens? Yes, they eat meat. And I'm not saying they shouldn't. But we did not start out that way. You can go to national geographic's website and look up the article "Evolving to Eat Mush". Page 2 talks about it. YouTube won't let me link for some reason.
@LeOpinionatedOne I KNOW we evolved into Homo sapiens, and that's what we are. That is our SPECIES, and you said our species began as herbivores. Sorry, no we didn't. Besides, you can't take the diet that applied to our non human ancestors and say that that's just as good for us, because if you go back far enough, you'll find that our ancestors live in the sea, and obviously trying to live underwater wouldn't work for us.
@LeOpinionatedOne Yes, we evolved from that, but what applied to our ancestors millions of years ago does apply to us any more, because we EVOLVED. If it's not our species, then what ever happened to them doesn't apply to us. Comparing their diet to ours would be almost the same as comparing a wolf's diet to a tiger's. They're completely different species!
@LiliFromHali Here's a good question. What part of "We did not start out that way" didn't you comprehend? As a matter of fact, the article I stated as reference CLEARLY says "When HUMANS switched to meat". But, that's technical. I can see how I mis-typed in saying our species specifically but it's definitely inferrable what I meant. And, clearly, you CAN apply that diet being that Vegetarians do so now. Get over yourself. It doesn't apply to us? This is a joke. Go read the article. I'm done.
@LeOpinionatedOne What I meant by "it didn't apply to us" is that you can't take a look at another species' diet and say, oh, this species is related to this other one, so that means that their diet is completely the same. And I don't know what that article was talking about, since the Homo genus has been eating meat since Homo habilis, which is basically the start of the genus. That's about 2.2 million years BEFORE Homo sapiens appeared. So humans didn't ever SWITCH.
@LeOpinionatedOne And no I'm not going to go read the article. I prefer to get my information from actual peer reviewed journals, from people who actually studied extensively in the field they're writing in. National Geographic might be a distinguished magazine, but they're not peer reviewed, so you can't take everything they say at face value.
@paulorustobernardo I'm not a vegan, but there's no reason to lose respect for her. It's what makes her feel better and healthier in her own skin, and she looks great.
you seem to me as the first beautiful girl, who actually admits that looking like you look is hard work and discipline. respect and admiration from germany : )

@JuneBugg3299 I would assume no since ranch has milk in it and to be vegan means not eat any animal products including eggs and milk.

@JuneBugg3299 No, it's made with buttermilk or sour cream which is dairy. (I'm lactose intolerant so I know)

I eat healthy too. But I believe the main thing is to avoid processed food, & eating real whole food, rather than how much fat or meat or carbs you're eating. The diet dogmas are stupid, there are many ways to eat healthy, not just one. Also depends on the individual.
I personally eat homemade stoup (stew/soup lol), eggs with veggies, quinoa w/ honey, & fruits.

i'm a vegan but i'm one of those unhealthy vegans. it's hard for me to eat really healthy. salads or soups everyday makes me crazy just thinking about it. but perhaps i'll try it. because i'm tired even though i'm on the vegan diet. i don't work out and i eat unhealthy vegan things.
properlybright 1 week ago

I've kind of always wanted to be vegan but my mom won't

shukla714 1 week ago 21
@shukla714 Yeah, um. I have to say it's pretty much exactly the same for me. I mean-- I subsist mainly off of berries, and when I do have bread with peanut butter it is just euphoric. Which was never the case when I ate whatever I wanted, so it probably has to do with the high fat and carb content. But. It is really really good.

lost my respect for ya... vegan... lame... we have evolved to be smarter animals than the rest and our diet probably played a role in that, im sure a ton of you vegans are going to have a hay day ripping on this but there is a reason we have been eating meat since the beginning of our species...
paulorustobernardo 2 weeks ago
@paulorustobernardo I'm not vegetarian or vegan, But dude, who the hell are you to judge anyone on their diet? And our species? Our species started eating berries and roots and evolved to hunt.
LeOpinionatedOne 2 weeks ago
@LeOpinionatedOne Um, sorry to burst your bubble, babe, but Homo sapiens have ALWAYS been hunter-gatherers, as were many of the hominids that can before us. I'm not judging anyone based on what they put/don't put in their bodies, but fact is fact.
LiliFromHali 2 weeks ago
@LiliFromHali Uh, sweetheart, we EVOLVED into Homo Sapiens. Sorry, but yes, facts are facts. Homo Sapiens? Yes, they eat meat. And I'm not saying they shouldn't. But we did not start out that way. You can go to national geographic's website and look up the article "Evolving to Eat Mush". Page 2 talks about it. YouTube won't let me link for some reason.
LeOpinionatedOne 2 weeks ago
@LeOpinionatedOne I KNOW we evolved into Homo sapiens, and that's what we are. That is our SPECIES, and you said our species began as herbivores. Sorry, no we didn't. Besides, you can't take the diet that applied to our non human ancestors and say that that's just as good for us, because if you go back far enough, you'll find that our ancestors live in the sea, and obviously trying to live underwater wouldn't work for us.
LiliFromHali 2 weeks ago
@LeOpinionatedOne Yes, we evolved from that, but what applied to our ancestors millions of years ago does apply to us any more, because we EVOLVED. If it's not our species, then what ever happened to them doesn't apply to us. Comparing their diet to ours would be almost the same as comparing a wolf's diet to a tiger's. They're completely different species!
LiliFromHali 2 weeks ago
@LiliFromHali Here's a good question. What part of "We did not start out that way" didn't you comprehend? As a matter of fact, the article I stated as reference CLEARLY says "When HUMANS switched to meat". But, that's technical. I can see how I mis-typed in saying our species specifically but it's definitely inferrable what I meant. And, clearly, you CAN apply that diet being that Vegetarians do so now. Get over yourself. It doesn't apply to us? This is a joke. Go read the article. I'm done.
LeOpinionatedOne 2 weeks ago
@LeOpinionatedOne What I meant by "it didn't apply to us" is that you can't take a look at another species' diet and say, oh, this species is related to this other one, so that means that their diet is completely the same. And I don't know what that article was talking about, since the Homo genus has been eating meat since Homo habilis, which is basically the start of the genus. That's about 2.2 million years BEFORE Homo sapiens appeared. So humans didn't ever SWITCH.
LiliFromHali 2 weeks ago
@LeOpinionatedOne And no I'm not going to go read the article. I prefer to get my information from actual peer reviewed journals, from people who actually studied extensively in the field they're writing in. National Geographic might be a distinguished magazine, but they're not peer reviewed, so you can't take everything they say at face value.
LiliFromHali 2 weeks ago
@paulorustobernardo Ignorance makes people lose respect for you. It's their choice, not yours.
MariahJ34 2 weeks ago
@paulorustobernardo I'm not a vegan, but there's no reason to lose respect for her. It's what makes her feel better and healthier in her own skin, and she looks great.
