The John Wilkes ran between Pittston, Pennsylvania and Penn Station in New York City. Stops in Pennsylvania included Pittston, Wilkes Barre, White Haven, Weatherly, Mauch Chunck (later known as Jim Thorpe), Lehighton, Slattington, Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton. A connection between Scranton and Pittston was made with the Lackawanna and Wyoming Valley, more commonly known as the Laurel Line. And a connection off the Hazleton Branch was made at Lehighton.
In New Jersey stops included Flemington, Flemington Junction, and South Plainfield before arriving at Penn Station by a connection with the Pennsylvania Railroad.
Thanks!! I like all the trains I have, but this locomotive stands out from the rest. It is one of my favorites. And the Valley is also one of my favorite railroads. I've wanted to do an Apollo train for a while and it's cool to finally have one.
My uncle worked on the Reading and I had many friends on that road. I'm a big Reading fan ....my license plate sez it's so.
The Valley ran Mt Carmel ore drags through my home town and so I'm also a LV fan. Very colorful road. I think the yellow jackets had an awesome paint scheme.
I'm sure your uncle and friends told some amazing stories over the years about their time working for the railroads. Watching those ore drags had to have been amazing. As well as the kielbasi in Shenandoah. I have a DVD made by Penn Valley Pictures that shows the Pennsy side of the ore trains. It is a nicely done DVD. One of my favorites.

You're welcome. The Lehigh Valley had some nice passenger trains. Both the John Wilkes and the Black Diamond were very sharp.
