this comparison is invalid because a) the phone on the left clearly has data on it/is being used (due to the password and custom desktop image).. b) the phone on the left was connected to a service provider, which adds time to the boot up. another way to prove this is the fact the times on both are different. by comparing a used phone to a new phone is extremely stupid because the used phone has a lot more to load ...

its a fair test but why would you care about how fast it boots from a battery pull? I have had a blackberry since the 8100 and that was a like 5 mins of waiting and it never bothered me. You shouldn't have to do it so often that is bothers you how long it takes.

@master1321 that's a fair statement. Blackberrys are pretty stable and don't require a lot of battery pulls though i reset mine quite a bit as i install/uninstall software.

@collliflower This is the easiest way to tell the difference: (This is for the Black models, I don't know about white) The 9780 has a darker chrome finish than the 9700 and is usually on T-Mobile unless the phone is unlocked. The 9700 will be on T-Mobile AND At&t. Also, on the Black and White Bold's, the back door is still fo leather on the 9780 but it is usually a smoother material that the 9700.

@theposixchannel I think the main thing is people are just impatient and spoiled. IOS and Android are alot faster booting up that everyone just wants the same thing. And it can get annoying when you have to reboot your device multiple times in the same day if it takes a two minutes.

Blackberry are most likely going to reveal the release dates of even newer generations of their phones including the Bold Touch which will be this phone but with touch screen capabilities (and will probably be even faster than both of these). Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down)."

Someone be honest with me, would I be stupid for getting the blackberry bold 9700 for at&t at this time. I'm not a big fan of apps and touchscreen, I'm looking for a decent phone that texts good, sends emails good with, makes pretty good phone calls, and has good social networking.

IMO, it would be better if you just got the 9780 (only if you don't already have 9700). It's stupid to "upgrade" from a 9700 to a 9780. The phones are practically identical. The only difference is that the 9780 comes preloaded with OS6, has a larger on-board memory and a 5MP camera. The 9700 has a 3.2 MP camera and 256 memory vs the 9780s 512 memory.

you gave me the idea to do this test myself... on my end the 9700 beats the 9780 by like 30 or so seconds... one thing i am not sure here, but as soon as the battery contacts are touching, the bold starts booting, even when the battery is not properly inserted and holding... i'm not sure when the contacts have started in this video... migth do one myself, not sure yet... :)

Nope, my 9700 started having screen issues, with no physical damage or water damage. Got it warranty swapped and they upped me to a 9780 instead. Much prefer OS6. Was using it on my 9700 forever.
