It sounds unnatural. You can't duplicate the vibrato coming from a human being playing the violin. It sounds to me like an angry buzzing coming from a soprano bee.
They are quite valuable, and it a very strange sounding thing. I would love to have one, if I could afford it. It is the conversation piece to end all. It sometimes has it's moments. Other moments are well...

Wow. Super-vibrato. Is the vibrato depth capable of being controlled? It almost sounds like a theatre organ solo voice on steroids.

Ah yes....the Mills "Cat-O-Phone"....I've heard cats in heat sound much better.
