  • i have one right now! maybe it's died.

  • Google 'Potato bug' it is much much different, but the name is also a common name for a diff species of pill bug with a dusty look to their shells and a flatter body shape.

wood lice are a little different; longer antenna and more pointed ends to shell fragments. You'll see the diff if you google this one too and compare it to the pill bugs in this video.

  • poor things help them up

  • Am I the only one who calls these potato bugs

  • oh you mean woodlice

  • I remember watching a rollie pollie play with half a toothpick.

  • omg they are da cutest bug ever! xD

  • after seeing these bugs does anyone else want to start singing the katamari theme song?

  • wtf is up with the music hahah

  • This video reminds me of the SCHLOR PILLBUG 1937 car ; all car should have that shape and fuel consumption will be VERY LOW INDEED!

  • they always on a mission!

  • I just fed one of these fat guys the other day to my fly trap

and now its oozing out juice

    >_>

  • @mlps93 yeah man apparently their blood is blue because of some weird thing missing like a chemical or something google it lol :o

  • These bugs are so awesome they defy being bugs so they became Crustaceans.

  • I have 28

  • My little daughter absolutely loves pill bugs and can't watch this video enough times! She loves the song that you chose to put with the video, also!

  • how cruel!!!!

to leave them on there backs!!!

i never did that the them

    it's really cruel!!

just like a sheep or a turtle lay them on there backs...they gonna die

  • @vleermuisje pfft, thats not cruel. they aren't gonna die just from rolling over, and they know how to get back up. how else would they survive in the wild if they accidentily rolled over? besides, cruel would be pulling their legs off. now THATS cruel! lol

  • man when I was a little kid I use to play with these things alll the time!

  • 1:12 they fail so hard.

  • dude, back in the day, me nd my friends would gather a lot of them and poke them to ball mode and play marble with them!!!! these were the only bugs or "crustacians" ive ever liked :D

  • get this my cousin and i found a rollie-polie and a daddy long leg. We decided to see the 2 fight well guess who won? well the spider attacked the rollie-pollie but the rollie pollie went into a ball and trapped the spider in their. well the spiders venom killed the rollie pollie but the spider got trapped in the ball so it sufficated we undid the rollie polies ball to find them both dead...

  • I wanted to see them in ball form :(

  • @20ashcash I can make that vid, i have a container of em :) and a big fat one.

  • buen video

  • ewwwI cant beleive i woudl let those things walk over my arms lol I use to play with them and poke them so they would go into "Ball-mode" loll theyre so fugly lolol

  • Thumbs up if lemmewinks sent you here

  • I didn't know they were crustaceans! Cool! :D

  • i think they had a lil too much caffine lol

  • @zackswest your gay

  • Don't you guys know these are ball-e bugs?!

  • mEXICANS ARE GAY.

  • @zackswest1 fuck u ass hole

  • I call them balls.

  • @PrawdaUnia I call them side walk stains.

  • @PrawdaUnia That's unimaginative and just asking for a gay joke, come back when you start naming things creatively like a normal human being.

  • @Gosgosgosu Woodlice (Rollie-Pollie) can roll up into an almost perfect sphere as a defensive mechanism. A ball is a round, usually spherical but sometimes ovoid object. I wasn't asking for any kind of joke. That's just a fruit of your 17 year old imagination. While I was writing this I did a search on your recent comments and this is what I found:

"Although some Wood Louse are unable to roll into a ball" - That's your comment!

Stop being a troll and leave people like me (peaceful) alone.

  • lol , wer stellt so ne scheiße rein

  • They are soooo cute :D And the song fits perfect♥

In German we call them "Kellerasseln", and it was my joke name in school :D

  • I found out that they can stay underwater for quite some time. They don't struggle, and just walk on the bottom of the pool.

  • Woooooweeeeee!

When I get big I wanna be a rollie pollies :):):)

  • lol i call them potato bugs

  • my polly's had tiny white polly babys that are soo cute but how do you tell which is male and female how do they mate???? Its just sooo wierd and cool at the same time!

  • when me and my sister were young we called them rollie pollies too

and the feet is like sticky

  • we call em Chuggy-pigs lol :P

  • awww i love them i used to flip them over so they couldnt get up hahaha lol:)

  • Wow, I didn't know they were crustaceans!! Cool!

  • dude i still love rollie pollies...im 13 lol

  • These by far are my fav bug lol there awsome they can live underwater for like a long ass time and there funny to watch xD

  • I always think of them as mini-armadillos.

The spelling 'rolly polly' puzzles me. Did the writer mean 'roly-poly'?

  • -.-

  • i put 2 in a 50 gal fish tank they either died from water pressure or temp or from water making them soggy but they survived for over 2.5 hours so they can breathe on land and water they could also just be resting though

  • @hunterziegelmann WELL YEAH CAUSE THEY'RE CRUSTACEANS AND THEY NEED MOIST SKIN. Sorry I did not know I had the caps lock on.

  • @hunterziegelmann i did something like that when i was a kid, put a bunch in a toy bucket filled with water, they just kept going and going and going........XD

  • HOLY CRAP. They're NOT bugs? No way!

But they look so funny turned over.... And kind of icky.

  • omg i find a lot of these in my pool! x(

  • Ive always known them as potato bugs :)

  • i just got a little bug from my garden XD hes nice

  • mine died in a day:L!! WELL ONE SURVIED what was a baby:'(R.I.P. cathy:L!lool!..baby kacy :) is alive and the daddy well escaped XD!. idk how they both had a baby how do they?:P! i got thse from a rock.and she was already pregant.

  • dude these things where awesome to play with as a kid. i used to keep them as pets :) good times

  • lol I called them wood bugs when I was little. I cooked them once and made my little brother and older cousin eat em'. :D

  • What do these bugs eat? Just leaves?

  • idk why i call them potato bugs but aparently they dont like to be flipped over XD

  • Man these bugs bring back memories haha never thought a bug would do that.

  • how can you tell if a rollie pollie is a boy or a girl ? PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT IT!!!!!! AND SEND IT TO ME AND ALSO TELL US HOW CAN A ROLLIE POLLIE LIVE IN A CLEAR BOX AND WHAT IT EATS!!!!

  • I think its cool that these can breathe both on land and water i tryed to drown one when i was young and got frustraded when it didn't work...

  • this lookt like the small version of the Giant isopod!

  • rolly pollys are isopods, aren't they??

  • yeah but search on internet GIANT isopod ok?

  • These were the coolest bugs to play with as a child!!

  • @806TO713 I had a pet rolli pollie once.

  • @806TO713 and as adults we now know they are crustaceans

  • are those just woodlice?

  • so why do they call them rollie pollies?

  • because sometimes they curl up into balls and tuck their feet in and they roll around

  • good song choice

  • "All rollies were set free after this video"

    Good for them :)

  • BURN EM!!

  • lol there all like "STOP FUCKING FILMING AND ROLL ME BACK OVER!"

  • I actually found a smart rolly polly one day. Typically you find these things dead on their backs because they couldn't get up, but this one actually rocked his body and took only two seconds to get on his feet! He was no fun ;\

  • There are different types of these bugs i discovered-- Woodlice don't curl into balls and pillbugs do. They look the same though. I used to live in California and there were practically all the species of these! Some are purple and flat and are fast, some are like the ones in the video

  • There are also sowbugs and silverfish, same family!

  • My siblings and I use to catch like 50 of these....we'd then set them all on my brother's arm and hed allow the bugs to crawl all over him

  • Would be cool to cross its genes with something that would make it grow larger... they look harmless enough.... until they are 10 inches long and weigh 5.5 lbs. Then again, some fucked up culture in the world would probably breed them for food if they were that big.

  • Some cultures in the world eat them as they are.

  • Lmao, good news, there were giant isopods(rolly pollies) discovered in the ocean! Pretty much the exact size you said oddly enough. If you type it in search you can find a video

  • i rip them in half sometimes

  • i use to do that when i was lil n collect there skeletons

  • i dig in the dirt sometimes and once i got about 45 rollie pollies and i found out if a rollie pollie has a green stomach theyre pregnant and now i have little tiny white rollie pollie babies :D

  • I see these things every work day, I have a loser minimum wage job where I work at a trailer accepting clothing donations...and I see these crawling around, and ants, and little red and black beetles. I typically dump the crumbs from my granola bar on the curb to see the ants eat it. recently, a rolie polie tried to take a crumb, and the ants attacked it, so it rolled up into a ball, when the ants left, it went back to normal, lol

  • @neutrino78x kool

  • @neutrino78x Sounds like a cool job to me... I'd rather have a loser minimum wage job where I get to watch bugs eat my granola crumbs than anything else, frankly, haha.

  • @thesemenincident well I guess that is a good way to look at it...lol

  • Do they bite? They look cute but do they bite? Cuz i wanna look for some sooo CUTE.

  • no, they are herbivores/vegetarians. they eat wood and other plants. :) I grew up calling these rollie pollies :)

  • they dont, and you can find them pretty much anywhere

  • they dont bite.

  • @vebbime211 they do not bite, the feet tickle though!

  • I think they're cute! I never kill these when they're in my house. As long as it's not too many I don't mind them at all. I love how clumsy they are.

Anyone else remember that Rugrats episode where Chuckie has a pet rolly polly that he names Melville and it dies? soooo sad lol :P

  • Comment removed

  • really nasty :|

  • yuk

  • put some in your planter and they'll start converting crap to compost!!! god bless them <3

  • Oh and I had one run across the living room a couple of weeks ago. Don't like to kill them so I picked it up to throw it outside and it had dozens of eggs attached underneath.

  • @xeno1000 *gasp* WOW i've never in my life caught one in that stage, although i did read that's how they hatch the babies.

  • Rolly Pollies lol

Is that what you people call them?

We call 'em Wood Lice and they are everywhere here in the UK. Impossible to go a single day without seeing at least one. Had one shoot under the washing machine earlier today.

  • wow little pill bugs if u could live with 75% less oxygen way back then when they were BIGGER then they could bite really hard.....ouch but cool and its not scary lmao

  • Nice video, but cut down on the Rollie-pollies upside down trying to get up. There legs wiggling like that in fast-forward is...creepy

  • I love woodlice :D

The music matches the video so well too :D its funny when they are trying to turn over, then stop and just go "Mehhhh" for a moment before trying again.

  • i found like 3 whole colonies of like 500 each after we removed a dead plant they crawled all over the side walk lol

so i got pieces of wood and stacked em to make a wall it looked kinda awkward specially when i found 3 pregnant ones and 1 giving birth O_O

  • @PyratePig wow!

  • why not just execute them quickly? what if someone chose to burn you instead of a straight up headshot?

  • You don't shoot a insect.

  • im saying he could have stepped on it or something, not burn it

  • i have loads of them under this broken brick they are very friendly

  • adorable

    i still love them :)
