My dog is 4 years hold, she is a german shepherd, and she is a true nightmare when you want to take a walk with her. She is acting exactly like Bears how he was before. Is that to late to re educate her? Thank you in advance for your answer.
@Lilithychou - It's never too late! you just need to learn how to go about it. When teaching a dog what you want, you need to keep setting them up for success, this way they learns how to behave. It's much more effective, and easier than constantly telling a dog what they did wrong. Call your Veterinarian to find out which trainers are best, or visit the APDT website and search for a certified instructor.
Were I live were not allowed to have fencing ( we didn't know that when we moved in). We live by a busy street and were worried she might dart across the street and get hit, she's a new puppy, and had extremely high prey drive, and if sighted any small animal she'll dart across the road. Any suggestions ?
@lenasibreancatdog - Hi, How old is she? keep her on leash until you can teach her what you want. Start a relationship with a local trainer, learning how to stop behavioral problems and teach your puppy early, this is the best way to go.
And yes yes ! My house dog's are barking non-stop, jumping here and there while a stranger just walk pass my house's gate. They are so... aggressive that they banged the wall sometimes. There's one time, one of the dog's head stucked at the steel gate. I was so worry and funny at the same time. LOL
I managed to calm them down by approaching them and pet them if I'm there.
@xCreammmm - Hello, After bear had a good stay, come and leave-it, I used a systematic process where I redirected Bear (to a treat or toy) when he would first think about going after a dog behind a fence. i kept doing that until he just stopped Thinking about it. and of course I have 30 years experience, thats another way I helped the dog.I'll have a video at some point on how to control those behaviors. Don't wait if it's something you need to fix, call your local Vet to see who they recommend.
