  • 2 people wouldn't know what to do with one more Saturday night.

  • Yeah, that smile conveys the transcendent joy of Rock & Roll.

  • Love it when Bobby starts smiling during the crescendo.

  • I knew a Ton of hot girls who loved the Dead growing up. I wonder why they Never made it up on stage? We had Hot Pants in 1972. Rosie or Mountain Girl or whoever that woman is makes the Amish look sexy. Imagine a young Farrah Faucet in Hot Pants shaking her ass at the crowd. That, I would have been Truly Grateful for. LONG LIVE THE GRATEFUL DEAD !!!

  • This was the peak.

  • 1 person had a bad Saturday Night

  • I want a time machine, wish I was there...long live Jerry and The Dead

  • This song just kicks way too much ass!

  • love!

  • thumbs up if you're headbanging

  • The dancing woman is Rosie McGee.

  • That dancing woman is probably Donna Godchaux, wife of Keith, the Dead's pianist at the time. She sang vocals.

  • @Staggerbaroque Oh, think not dude, it's not Donna, maybe Mountain Girl, tho'....

  • @Staggerbaroque It sureley isn't Donna, ( or Shirley ). In one snippet it looks like maybe it's Betty Cantor. But that's a stretch.

  • I have traveled to Dead Shows without a ticket just to do drugs in the Parking Lot with all the Cool Deadheads. What a friendly Bunch!

  • 39 years ago today!!! (((Jerry~Bobby~Phil~Billy~Mickey)))

  • THERE WAS SOME GOOD QUALUDES GOING AROUND THAT SHOW AND MOUNTAIN GIRL TOOK 1 TOO MANY!...

  • Ha Phil's such a nerdy dude but you can't find many cooler than him wish I was on his intellectual and musical level, he can have any of my organs if he needs em

  • nice... just awesome

  • Does anyone else see the resemblance to Jim Carey?

  • What incredible energy!

  • Everybody thinks the same thing... the dancing woman beside the drums ;-(

  • IS THAT MOUNTAIN GIRL= THE HIPPIE CHICK?

  • not mg

  • love it.. more videos plaeas!!!! :>) sub back if you will.....

  • Oh Yeah :)))

I remember so many Saturday Nights with the Dead ..... & a gang of friends, drinking too much, singing & Dancing like crazy.....Smiling loovinn the Dead :)))

  • Man, I miss the 70's - I think I was still in junior high but the music was so alive

  • who's the hippie chick?

  • @seasideam She looks like she's tripping balls! What's incredible is how LOUD these guys were on stage. Guarantee she had a headache the next day

  • who's the ugly bitch dancing in back?

  • Jerry Garcia is my dad..he is deeply in my heart forever.

  • @waterloo2003 hey youre jesus - the son of god

  • @4everledzep haha...good to see u...I got millions of brothers here...lol

  • @haiboriver thank you man. So much good people here... I'm 16 and only one of my friends like old music... its great man

  • @4everledzep tis great to be a deadhead at 16..while I was 20 my teacher was a deadhead and he lives a block away from Jerry and he showed me pix of Jerry Bob Phil playing..He sold icecream on many of the Dead gigs..lol..I craved to go to a Dead gig desperately at that time back in 1992 and my teacher told me to go to SF as soon as possible cos Jerry wouldn't live that long..three years later I watched the tele news of Jerry's death and remembered I was so sad...

  • @haiboriver thank you man. So much good people here... I'm 16 and only one of my friends like old music... its great here man

  • @4everledzep that teacher sent postcard to me and comforted me that "legend rocks on my friend"..I was a bit moved and asked him if I could borrow and copy all of his 400 bootleg cassettes of Grateful Dead live gigs...lol...still remember how reluctantly alerted he was...lol...he only lent me two finally and he is the only cheap and stingy bastard that I love so much....lol.

  • i never noticed that bobbys es-335 had a varitone switch

  • i just realized my monitors dont work!!

  • Jerry + Strat = Godlyness beyond compare

  • @dounuteldr My thoughts exactly.

  • mmm break me off a piece of that weir.

  • that woman dancing in the background is my grandmother.

  • she was a good lay

  • @pricha24 What's that woman's name?

  • @pricha24 yeah she was good too

  • So gooooooooood! ole days - stage dancin~

  • @jelHax, i agree completely, his tone with that guitar is unbeatable.

  • @jelHax--I have owned 2 natural finished strats (still own an amazing 91 Strat Plus) because of the tone Jerry had in 71 and 72. Now, the swamp ash helped a ton in that but so did his fingers...;)

This was before he put the famous Alligator sticker on it. (if you go on eBay and search Alembic you can get yourself one--can't remember the name of the guys site, but that is where I got the one I put on mine.)

Speaking of Alembic: my next dream guitar will be an Alembic Further (like the Wolf.)

  • Love jerry w/ alligator... tiger/rosebud/bolt were all "prettier" but the sound he got out of that old strat was top.

  • WOW, this was recorded on my 1st birthday!

  • If they are all doin acid and H - yeah sure do. What were they thinkgin? I am white and always ascribed to the idiom that white people can't dance - at least in the 60's and 70's.

  • ...best of his abilities -- he was great on this song.

  • actually, the two coolest things are Phil's hair and Bobby's hollow-bodied guitar.

equally impressive are that Jerry actually brought his "A" game and that they had the foresight to send Donna out for coffee when the cameras starting rolling.

  • what a solid band

  • I love the third verse. Such a well written song

  • So FUCKING GREAT!!!!! thanks...-

  • I think every town everywhere has one or two of those dancing girls!

  • is that dancing girl part of the band?

  • Groupie...?

  • I think it is Donna Jean. 3 months later. :)\

  • touch of grey got me into the Dead

  • this is excellent .. what's the problem , , ? i just don't like that bubble gum song / / "i will get bye" . . sounds like the partridge family.

  • classic.

  • jerrys amazing

  • your amazing.

  • who are these guys? are they still around? great guitar player

  • haaahahahaha

  • lol

  • lol. sorta, minus the guitar player, he passed. Jerry Garcia, you may have heard of him? THe Dead is touring this spring however!! WHOO!

  • oh , , , you mean that "I will get bye" dude? holy shit . . . you are right~ that is one of the worst songs in history . . this one is smokin though

  • ummm wow what a crappy opinion

  • i hope your kidding! this is the Grateful Dead and yes they are still around they are know as the dead now and the guitar player is jerry but he died in 95

  • I weep for you.

  • Hells yeah!

  • I love the opening of this video.

  • i love when bob weir sings, hes a great singer.

  • That's hot.

  • great song. ratdog's version of the song (live) might be just as good.

  • maybe, but nothing is the same without jerry

  • Very true....

  • Now that all is said and done, I only listen to the original Dead, from 1965-1974. After that, they weren't really very good.

  • i guess good is up for debate...do u really think they were "good" in 65?? they were different and fun to groove too but the sound was often muddy and jerry was noodley back then bob was very young and pig was trying to play organ....71-74 was prime time, but if you like 74 why not 76?? 77 and 8 even??

  • I personally think '78 was their best year.

  • Huh. Traffic opening for them at RFK in 93-94 was some *amazing* energy, like they had not had on stage in decades. The fat man rocked. I think it was a different sound, not necessarily better or worse. Sometimes I want blues, sometimes meandering invertebrate miasma...

  • My favorite Dead song, no doubt in my mind.

  • No, Scarlet Begonias is.

  • No, I've done a lot of drugs but I'm quite sure that this is my favorite dead song.

  • i have the entire footage of this concert on DVD actually

  • how about u pass on a copy to me!?

  • AWESOME

  • The Dead as guitar-gun-slingers. Hell ya

  • One word: Sweeeeeeeeeeet :)

  • One word: Sweeeeeeeeet.
