  • Dude you make that strat sing

  • maybe this was explained... it makes sense to me to use the E ionian mode for the Emaj7 but I don't understand how the B dorian mode fits in there as the second mode of E ionian would be F# dorian

Your videos are great none the less, do you have any lessons about modes and how to use them?

  • @foovolta I think its because B dorian is the same as E mixolydian.

  • i love that

  • Excellent! Thank you very much for honoring Jerry with this fine lesson. I love your style and in-sight. Cheers my friend!

  • Love it. Please hit us with more Jerry.

  • @Piperredworm I agree! This boy has got some serious style!

  • I could literally sit here and watch him solo for hours

  • Thanks for the lesson..

  • I put my guitar away for 2 years, you have helped me rediscover my passion for it. thanks marty!

  • Sounds like elevator music xD

  • @morrissy777 fuck you

  • @chinacatBadger Dude, chill. I wasnt saying it was bad, it just reminded me of it... I love all guitar.

  • Marty, this lesson really introduces in a very easy fashion, two chord vamp, the idea of switching scale tones on the fly. I would love to see some more lessons on switching modes on the fly. Personally I view this example as going from Ionian to Mixolydian. But you could do Dorian->Aeolian or major pentatonic->Dorian->minor pentatonic. Anything that you may have picked up when you were learning to change scale tones on the fly such as this example.

  • You are now my new favorite lesson site!

  • Whats the strumming pattern on the jam track.

  • Sounds sweet! Lots of good stuff. I

  • I love how you make it so simple to be a samurai warrior of the fretboard, as Garcia was himself. Terrific breakdown of one of the coolest vamps of all time!

  • hey marty I am a huge robert johnson nut..........can u show me some songs or licks.......(steady rollin man?,crossroads?)anything like that

  • I know you get a ton of questions on here. But, would B mixolydian also work where you're saying to play E major?

  • @roseburg04 b mixo and e may are the same scale. yes

  • btw sorry for bad spelling. I come from outside the states

  • Hey Marty! I know that you normally dont do other artists songs on this channel, but could you take a look on a Radiohead song called "Subterranean homesick alien" I was learning some of the licks, and small guitarsolos on it, and it dosn´t really sound like anything I´ve ever heard. Could you maybe take a look at it sometime. That would be really enlightning!

  • Marty at his most interesting and inspirational, at last, more advanced stuff loving it

  • I love you Marty! You're lessons keep getting better and better. Thanks again and have a great Christmas!

  • Great couple of videos Marty, but it continues to show me what a daunting task it is to learn all the scales and notes on the guitar. Maybe someday I'll know them cold like you do, but it seems soooo far down the road.

  • does anyone know what looper is being used?

  • @BEYONDILIMIT I believe Marty uses a Boss Loop Station. Its on one of his other videos.

  • What scale fits nice over the 4th Chord of Emaj?? I mean over the A??

  • That's one of the most beautiful strats I've ever seen

  • Hey Marty, I know it's kinda off-topic to this lesson but, do u think you could take a crack at a song from The Black Keys new album? It would be awesome if you could teach us the solo from the song Little Black Submarine? Thumbs up so he can see and if not, oh well i tried lol.

  • Very cool...beats the old I-IV-V progression by keeping it interesting and complex.

    Thanks for that.
