  • Kisses Julie.....

  • Hard-boiled men, sexy dames, propellered planes, rotary phones...those WERE the days.

Now it's men finding their feminine side, butch women, energy-efficient planes, iPhones....

  • Bravo!

  • Hasta el dia de hoy no escuche ninguna version que supere la de Julie y escuche unas cuantas.Cool cool cool.......es Julie London cool cool cool...

  • Getting goose bumps listening to this, so sensuous. She was just as beautiful in Emergency in her fifties as she was in her twenties. Jack Webb did her wrong, what a stupid man! If I was married to her I would have worshiped her. I saw some where that she was also very sweet.

  • @sauroid1

Yeah, me too! The fur raises on my arms and a shiver goes down my back ...

  • Treachery ."Perfidia" Love to play this song in Cha, Cha .

  • omg! this song! :)

  • Knew her from "Adam 12" as a child, then heard her sing on the radio some 30 years later and found it was the same person. An amazingly talented performer.

  • @manthony1956 Emergency!

  • Version slow ! Pas mail non plus.....

  • sexy voice!!

  • when women had voices too ....

  • @burrymefacedown We still have voices like this.. the problem is our idols have changed. When you love songs by popsingers, you will want to sound like them, I guess. Which is a shame.. this way of singing is beautiful, warm and smooth.. not to mention sensual. I do not care for the computer generated squeaky voices most seem to sing with nowadays.

  • smooth as silk

  • @augustloel1 ~ yes.

  • wow...

  • She was absolutely gorgeous. I had no idea.

  • Julie London was 35 years old when this was recorded in 1961. She passed away in October of 2000. Many remember her at nurse Dixie McCall in the 70's television show, "Emergency." At one time she was married to Bobby Troup who also starred in the same show ~ he was the silver-haired doctor. Troup's claim to fame dated back to 1946 when he wrote "Get Your Kicks On Route Sixty-Six" for Nat Cole.

  • way off

  • i laav yoo juliee

  • It is nice to know that this mexican song is so popular all over the world.

Thanks to you Mr. Alberto Dominguez (if you still alive)

  • incredible --especially at 4 -a-m

  • great song, greater singer

  • That most wonderful voice I've heard, Precious.

  • I can't stop listening to Julie London's music...

I love her voice and her look...

  • never even knew she sang this song..what a treat....love her stuff

  • LA VERSION INTERPRETADA CON FONDO DE MARIMBA Y GUITARRA DE JAVIER SOLIS TAMBIEN ES MARAVILLOSA E INILVIDABLE!!

  • When music was music, period.

  • the beauty of youtube is being able to compare versions , in my modest opinion the best vocal version is by Laura Fygi and instrumental ,by James Last.

  • I much prefer the Spanish version. Something very romantic about the Spanish language, and I find most of these songs "with translated lyrics", whether it's in Spanish or Portuguese, makes little sense and just doesn't flow in English. The emotions of the lyrics are definitely lost in translation.

  • @Jovitinha Would you give us a link of the Spanish version : )

  • @reyoulookinatme 1) Nat King Cole - Perfidia. 2)Sara Montiel - PERFIDIA (English Subtitles) 1965 3)PERFIDIA IBRAHIM FERRER .

The 3rd one's my fav. I love that romantic Buena Vista Social Club jazz touch.

  • Julie is magnificent in Perfidia. But I also like Sara Montiel's version in Spanish.

  • Great Song !

    Thanks for the vid.

  • This is the best vocal version in my opinion. Just listen late at night as you drift off AHHHHHHH.

  • @JohnnyNorfolk in my opinion , vocal version laura fygi by far and instrumental , james last by far also

  • @JohnnyNorfolk You know what, I just might do that tonight.

  • Nurse Dixie McCall!

  • Ah! the debate rages on, my personal vote is for "Perfidious One". The English lyrics were written by Milton Leeds so in the English language "Perifia's Won" makes no sense, the word is Spanish meaning unfaithful, treacherous or false, an apostrophe "S" denotes ownership... of what? Perfidious is an adjective ( yes Spanish uses adjectives ) which, in this case modifies the noun "One"... Case Closed... LOL

  • @JuanGoodeye

actually 's can stand for the contraction of "has" - perfidia has won, though I agree completely that in English it makes very little sense and the correct version is beyond all doubt "perfidious one". yields so much more results on Google too

  • @JuanGoodeye It seems to me that "Perfidious One" refers to the lover who was unfaithfull. In the original song "Perfidia" is the ACT not the person. In Spanish the key verse is "las veces que me ha visto llorar la perfidia de tu amor" ("the many times I've been seen crying the perfidy that is your love") Consequently the correct translation of "Perfidia" is "Perfidy" and should be left like that.

  • @raremark...

Wow !...What a good explanation. Thanks for providing it Juan.

  • @jimmyb1 DE NADA...BRO'

  • @raremark You have an excellent argument here, is the ACT not the person. just my five cents here: "The times I have seen crying the perfidy of your love" Peace.

  • @TheHugoguerra Yours makes easier reading and keeps the meaning. I love it. Peace.

  • @raremark Thanks ;)

  • When I saw her 1st on the old TV Show EMERGENCY, I had no idea she was a singer until someone older knew her ONLY as the Singer. That, my young friends is exactlly hy the Old were once respected. can't teach experience

  • Love her!

  • OMG! Her voice is SOOOO Enchantingly sultry~!

  • I love Lorraine Ellis and the Crows version, its beautiful and a bit more faster than Julie's version

  • @dothejive Finally found miss Ellis and the Crows version of perfidia...... IMHO.They should be charged with murder for killing this song.

  • Well, if you want to go for the spanish version, go to the roots, " Los tres Caballeros", this is a trio from Mexico the first to come up with the song, then go to "Los Panchos, alone or with Eydie Gorme, also Nat King Cole, gives a very romantic version, and at the end, if you want to dance to the tune, hit Perez Prado, his version is instrumental but ready for the shake and hum.

  • Wonderful late night listening. Thanks for posting.

  • jeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • What a Babe !

  • What a Babe

    Babe-alicious !

  • omg. she's so beautiful

  • where is the real black person who sang this. lol?

  • @dirtyweasel Well this is actually a Mexican song originally written by Alberto Dominguez, but Lorraine Ellis and The Crows do my Favorite version of this song, its a slow doo wop-Its amazing!

  • @TheoreticalLIfe - I thought the last part of the lyric is Perfidia's Won - Goodbye.

Perfidia is betrayal. Betrayal has won.

  • @50sVintage You are the correct one, Perfidia's WON! Not the one---It is betrayal in Spanish.

  • This song reminds me of my first girlfriend. We were loving classmates from elementry school to high school,Here name Ronnie Gottesman.Ifound out on the internet she died on March 6th 2010.He sister commited sucide on March 10 2010.Her name Karen Gottesman Festa .Two beautiful woman orig.from brooklyn new york.I will never forget Ronnie Gottesman Miller.

  • @nyrangers2813 That's just so sad.

  • if you are just a little curious about "Perfidia" just listen to Nat King Cole sing it....in Spanish. And you know what ? He is and sounds just GREAT !

  • @VIRIATO1942 It is an amazing version- I heard the Ventures first and thought that was the song (instrumental)! I heard this one, NKC's and lots of others. Then I found this again- it's not just because she's a woman- it's the depth and resonance of her voice which distinguishes it.Sometimes I dream of attending a concert of hers. It's in California, the early 60s when it was beautiful at a club, by the beach.

  • @guisar81 The song goes back to the great days of big bands. Check out Glen Miller's "Perfidia" This song has been covered by many artists over the years, even the Peter Pan of pop Cliff Richard did a version.

  • @VIRIATO1942 Nat King Cole one of the greatest ever. Elvis WHO?

  • remember her in Emergency?

  • Glenn Millers Version is better but I like this one too. *__*

  • She always said she had just a teacup full of voice, but what tasty tea! She deserves more recognition for her musicianship. Always on key and in tune, gorgeous intonation, great use of breath and of course superb attention to and interpretation of lyrics.

  • @waynebrasler

She was an actor, and knew how to deliver. Beyond that, she knew she had to express the words and did. She was superb imo.Second only to Glenn Miller's over-blast lol

  • Julie London is one of the sexiest women that ever lived. I love her vocal style - it burns into eternity.

  • Don't forget theIntro, which many peole skip is this in English;

    No one understands my suffering.

I sing since I can no longer weep.

Alone, trembling with anxiety, am I.

All look at me and go away.

  • 10 years has passed since she died.

    Cheers to Julie!

  • nice one jeremy1000100

  • help & safety tool people, gets rid of racists from YT in no time flat :)

  • @fantastichound

Spanish is a language that deserves respect too.

  • Just exquisite.

  • it bugs me a bit that she doesn't pronounce the 'r' in perfidia -

but i love the perhaps unintended campiness of a female singing these lyrics, addressed to another female!

  • @theinkbrain regarding your comment that it bugs you she doesnt pronounce perfidia as you want her to . someone said she wasnt so anally retentive as you. Is that true ?

  • OK! i've been reading some of thecomments. PERFIDIA sounds nice and mystical even in its original lenguage, spanish. Let me explain. PERFIDIA is a compound word. From the verb "perder"(to lose) and the adj. word "fidelidad"(fidelity or faithfulness). So we have "PERFID" and " IA " is to form the gender of the word in this case the feminine gender. So the whole word means " to lose one's own faithfulness". On the other hand, the spanish version concentrate in the words while in english on melody

  • This is sooooo good !

Thanks very much and greetings from Belgium .

  • For as long as I can remember this is one of my favorite melodies. And Julie London gives it a rich velvety touch, Thanks to all those who have brought this fabulous song on this wet, cold evening in August to bangalore.

  • What a lovely voice!

  • english version is nice, but the spanish one is the ticket

  • @rickscafe53

so please recommend the best spanish version - with vocals please.

  • Never realized how amazing she was. That voice and style is right up there with all the greats of that era. What a shame she isn't appreciated more

  • She just opened her mouth and sang: perfection without artifice.

  • My parents would always go to see Julie London and her future husband Bobby Troup in a night club on La Brea where they would perform together. So her albums were always around the house. Would love to hear Diana Krall do this number.

  • @ABOSS302 Your parents are lucky. I wish I can see Julie London, she is my idol. But she passed away already.

  • There was no Photoshop back then and no programs to modify voices to sound better. This way you can see the true quality of an artist and I must say,she is absolutely stunning and her voice is more than wonderful. True natural beauty <3

  • I am in love with this woman.

  • what a surprise!!

  • True that! ...and wonderful song ;)

  • sexiest woman ever?

  • i need a female singing partner like her so we can make beautiful music together

  • love that Julis is showing clevage

  • Does perfidia mean treachery or is the a more accurate translation?

  • @guisar81 it means unfaithfulness

  • @guisar81 Perfidia have other synonimous as Maldad that is to be Evil.

  • @guisar81 betrayal, perfidy, treason, disloyalty, it depend what you want say. Between two lovers is a betrayal made with evilness.

  • @xilpix

    Malice.

  • @guisar81 Perfidia in Italian means an high level of nastiness exercised with particular subtlety.

  • @guisar81 Perfidy is the direct translation in English. And yes it means faithless, treacherous or false.

  • que rolonnnnn, la canta super chido!!!

  • Beautiful Latin music.

  • wow to me, this lyric is a lot better than the spanish version... pretty nice song

  • full appreciation with @madikaru -

I like this Perfidia - very smooth

  • melodie superbe magnifique interprete

  • she has a pretty voice but nothing like the original version in spanish

  • In those days women were also beautiful!

  • @jt123egypte

    & Classy

  • When I was a kid in the 1970s, I watched her on "Emergency"! I didn't know she was a singer also until I was in college. Great voice!

  • I really love this song in the same way I hate it for the memories it takes.

  • written by Alberto Dominguez English lyrics by Milton Leeds To you My heart cries out "Perfidia" For I find you, the love of my life In somebody else's arms Your eyes are echoing "Perfidia" ................................. While the gods of love look down and laugh At what romantic fools we mortals be And now find my love was not for you And so I take it back with a sigh Perfidia's won Goodbye
  • @udon890 The bit in the middle goes Your eyes are echoing perfidia forgetful of our promise of love your sharing anothers charms with a sad lament my dreams have faded like a broken melody while the gods of love look down and laugh at what romantic fools we mortals be and now I KNOW my love was not for you and so I'LL take it back with a sigh PERFIDIOUS ONE goodbye pardon me for nitpicking but it would bug me all day if I didn't say something.
  • Theoretical Life: I love this song so much because I have bad memories of past experience. (sigh). Really love this song and also Julie London interpret it so well. It is so sad. THANKS.

    Udon from Canada

  • This song makes me cry.

    Udon from Canada

  • @udon890

    you have great musical tastes.

  • @TheoreticalLife

my heart goes out to you! punctilious people and people with perfect pitch have such a hard time in this careless world!

    cheers, and all the best.

  • @TheoreticalLife

my heart goes out to you! punctilious people and people with perfect pitch have such a hard time in this careless world!

    cheers and best wishes.

  • @TheoreticalLife Stil hurting, eh?

  • @TheoreticalLife its Perfidia's won not ONE

  • lovely

  • What is the meaning of Perfidia ? Can you help to explain because I am not American.

  • it is Spanish for "perfidy", as in faithless, treacherous or false.

  • I am going to get the lyric and sing this song in my bath tub. I like this song. I pretend I am Julie London.

  • @udon890 Really? Well, you mind if I call you? Haha

  • @udon890 :)))) you're not the only one :))

  • @udon890 I'll pretend you are julie london while I'm in the bathtub too; only it's not creepy.

  • @guisar81

Listen to the reggae version by one Phyllis Dillon from Jamaican

  • @udon890 When you get it so good you don't need to pretend; come and see me. If I know you are coming I will bake you a cake, hire a band.

  • @udon890 There can be only one Julie London, and this is she..... a voice of velvet

  • betrayal...

  • Uiii! Eine sehr gelungene Version eines Klassikers, und das mit der unvergleichlichen Stimme der wundervollen und einzigartigen Julie London!

  • So very sweet. Great version on this haunting melody.

  • I was introduced to this song by the Ventures version, but I love the strings in this version. They carry the beautiful melody perfectly.

  • What an amazing voice Julie had! Thank you for posting her music.

  • Latin in a Satin Mood....our Julie

  • littlelouie, I think you are thinking of Julie Newmar, but I do love this song :)

  • Nice job. Who knew Catwoman could carry a tune. Perrrrrrrfect.

  • The Girls form the 50s and 60s look really terrific. It seems like they are not real ......so-o-o-o-o-o beautiful!!!!!!

    Wow-wte

  • I totally agree. Can t compare. The romance and charme and glam of ancient days are way better!

  • Bogart & Bergman dance to this in Casablanca. It took me years to figure what tune it was!

  • BEAUTIFULL!

  • I simply love this version!!! Nuff said!

  • This is a wonderful rendition of Perfidia, which, IMHO, is one of the most beautiful songs ever. In the mid-sixties I grew up to a great version of Perfidia performed on an album called "50 Guitars go South of the Border" - I still have that album, and the song still wows me to this day.

  • Wow she is fantastic!!!!!!!!

  • To you my heart cries out "Perfidia," For I found you, the love of my life, In somebody else's arms Your eyes are echoing "Perfidia," Forgetful of our promise of love, You're sharing another's charms With a sad lament, my dreams Have faded like a broken melody; While the gods of love look down and laugh At what romantic fools we mortals be And now I know my love was not for you And so I'll take it back with a sigh, Perfidious one, good-bye.
  • oh wow, that is sexy

  • I wonder who she is calling?

  • that's what we miss those days...those classy chicks!

what we have is mostly a bunch of sluts!

  • well, we don`t have any more gentleman either... you are a good example of that lack

  • to Romie15: Kar kar kar. It is so funny. har har har. Julie London has a classy and graceful look.

  • Sorry, I don`t understand what you mean by "kar kar kar" or "har har har" because english it is not my first language. It reminds me of a pirate! Just in case I said what I said because of merleOberon, I don`t like the word he uses to to describe woman nowdays. I think the same way as you do about Julie London. But what we consider classy will change with time and we have to wait to see what would be reminded of our time in the future. Girls now are just different.

  • what did I say? I'm a big Julie London fan.

  • Oops! I`m so sorry, I got it wrong! I meant pontello3 not you hehehe my mistake! Sorry!

  • Classic means what keeps its value through all ages; it does not change.

Girls nowadays have nothing that others would wish to remember about them.

  • couldn t agree more

  • @yamejanakaratoprak

then listen to 'où sont elles passées' . i think the version by romoauld is pretty good.

  • lol, tell me about it!!!

  • pontello3, I agree..

  • Because the music industry can make quick bucks by promoting some unsuspecting attractive young girl with a decent voice and make squillions out of them. They chew them up and spit them out—Amy Winehouse, Brittney Spears etc

Music, heart, head and soul are reduced to tradeable commodities under this wretched dog eat dog system, that is diametrically opposed to human nature.

Ah, had my rant--I feel better now

  • Love Julie London--makes ya heart skip a beat!

  • I grinned, and I know what you meant. Cheers!
