Not only that, but they had a spill this year that made a lot of people in the area sick....I must find out how that went cuz i haven't heard much else since that spill....damn oil nazi's
Albertan here...get these fuckers out of the oil sands. It's dirty oil, and they are destroying beautiful forests to get at it. I was really hoping that the huge wild fire they had in the summer would smoke em out, but they are still there, and they have already ordered the pipe and materials to pump oil to the US!
European involvement in the Tars Sands matters not,the Canadians, the Americans, the Japanese, and the Chinese are doing just fine with development of the resource..
Nothing the Euros say makes any difference,Canada is hoping to raise its standard of living, like Norway did with north sea oil..
@TheChristianRight09 - i'm a canadian. our standard of living is just fine thank you very much, in fact, much better than in the United States. and the majority of Canadians OPPOSE the enormously destructive tar sands project... and we will stop it.
@techcafe well if that's the case, development is going full speed in the Tar Sands..............With output jumping by leaps and bounds....Why is that????
As someone involved in the energysands in alberta, if europe doesn't want our oil, so be it, enjoy (even) higher gas and heating prices. Americans provide massive demand for oil and will keep this industry going for decades. I just hope all of these 'green' socialists stay out of the way, so we can keep doing our jobs and providing a product that everyone else wants to buy (yet complains about us providing it).
I understand why your organization is protesting this issue, but I have doubts that there is any possibility of reversal in the tar sands project. The amount of capital required to develop the tar sands was staggering. Now that the technology is set up and ready to operate, there is no way things are going to stop now.
North Americans have invested massive sums into the tar sands. These investments are from companies, private individuals, universities, and even pension funds.
I always find it interesting that the people that know the least about the oild sands always have the most to say. Ignorant, ignorant people. The lady in this video tops the list.
I'd probably believe in man made global warming if the same thing wasn't happening on other planets in our solar system (interplanetary climate change). So i think it's either sun activity or the other theory, which is that our solar system is moving through some sort of dust cloud right now. So i think it's natural.
Decimating the environment? Ten percent of the environment is destroyed? I agree that extraction from the tar sands is terribly harmful, but please get some kind of grasp of the English language.
@DirtyMidgetStudios Where is your evidence that it isn't happening? The overwhelming amount of evidence is for MMGW, that it is still happening and that the temperature change lags behind the rise in CO2 by fifty or sixty years. Personally, I don't believe we'll do enough in time. I'm preparing for the worst.
Man made global warming was disproved by Climate Gate, and the other 90% of scientists that were like "LOLNO." FYI: Climate Gat was a bunch of documents, and emails written by the same scientists that spoon-fed you the Global Warming BS. And they were laughing their asses off at your stupidity for believing their scam.
However; most scientists believe in CLIMATE CHANGE. Which is the natural process the world goes through every once in a while.
@DirtyMidgetStudios As someone who has actually studied the science of climate change or global warming (the two terms are interchangeable) for their Masters degree, I can tell you that your condescension is utterly meaningless when you start talking about PROOF in science. Science is not and never has been about proof, but about weight of evidence for or against a particular theory. Thus, when i say that the overwhelming evidence is for MMGW, that is because it is.
@Lifeintakes Quite the opposite. I'm not religious at all. Science is not about proof. If your sole experience of science is television programmes and films, then I can see why you might think that, but it is about evidence and the likelihood (probability) that a particular theory is correct. Scientific proof is an oxymoron.
PS, Ad hominem attacks are generally viewed as a demonstration of a weak position.
@manoffireandlight Yeah I'm not either; it wasn't an attack, I was merely quoting you and curious why you would say that. I guess it comes down to semantics. I've always thought evidence was based on if something was provable or not. If there is no proof of something then how can you have any evidence for or against the theory? Basically you say tests are for evidence and I thought tests were for proof leading to a body of evidence. Anyhow I'll have to see what my piers say on this topic.
@DirtyMidgetStudios Climategate was not what you seem to think it was. Even while it was going on, the arguments of the deniers were categorically shown to be pointless, idiotic drivel.
There were four independent reviews of all the data from the emails and documents released during the whole debacle. The science and the scientists behind it were found to be sound and rigorous. You really need to educate yourself before publicly humiliating yourself like this.
