I totally forgot about Roger raping Rita... But Rita always was very insecure and a bit whiney...but when I was 10 and watching GL, she was my favorite character....
Rita and Ed wouldn't have had this much trouble if hadn't been for Roger raping her a month before they got married (but Rita should have told someone and even brought Roger up on charges -- but of course then we might not have had the maritial rape storyline).

I do remember, when I was 14 years old, and watching the show back in October 1978, Rita had contemplated the morning after the rape killing Roger with a sharp letter opener next to her bed and then also bought a gun to possibly kill him with. @TheWhatsinaname Spaulding garage in November 1978 (about a week and a half after Ed and Rita married, close to Thanksgiving time). (It would turn out to be Sara's then husband, Dean Blackford who did the deed). Rita also put a lot pressure on Ed to buy that big house they lived in (and later he would live in with Mo & Michelle and various times with Rick), shortly after their wedding.

Rita should have at least told Ed. It might have helped both of them to understand what is behind her feelings.
