No harm to have a simple, water-downed version floating around. But I'd recommend both listeners and performers go only for the original since it is so much better!
Funny. alot of Ryuichi Sakamoto peices are in a different key, like he doesnt want anyone to play it exactly like him or something. I have Asience and Merry christmas mr lawrence in a different key. It makes me cry

Actually he is known as a critic of copyright law. He thinks it's outdated and doesn't fit in the information age we're in now.
