I agree with eugkra34 there is no validity in this, pesticides are not just skin deep because plants are sprayed from when the plants and fruits are very young, therefore the pesticide is already part of the fruit or the vegetable just like any other nutrient. Neither ozonated water or anything else will remove or neutralize the pesticide once inside the plant cells.
so how does ozonating the water get rid of pesticides? Bacteria makes a little sense but trying to get rid of harsh chemicals with something like this... I question the validity of any science behind a machine like this. These days more and more people are trying to be healthy and there is tons of companies trying to profit from this.
She did say it wasn't only for pesticides but also bacteria in our produce. So I am sure that she doesn't use pesticides but there is bacteria outside ...I am going to get one of these. I will purchase one for my mother too, she doesn't believe in spending money on the organic produce. She is a clean freak however, and will like the idea of cleaning the fruit this way.
I'm not sure why I make comments here as no one answers! Anyway, by putting frozen veg or fruit in there, won't it get rid of vitamins etc as well? It doesn't seem there would be much goodness left.
Robyn, Why did you opt for a lotus if you have a water ionizer? I use my 11.5 pH water and get all the pesticides off without introducing chlorine/fluoride to the produce.
@1englishgal It takes longer when there is more water to sanitize. A full bowl with fruit will take longer than a half full bowl with only water or the spray bottle.
@1englishgal Also, this is from the Tersano . com site: The processing time varies from a minimum of three minutes to a maximum of eight minutes. The processing time depends on the quality of the water or the contamination on the item being cleaned in the bowl or other attachement. The dirtier the water or produce in the bowl, the longer the cleaning cycle.
@juliegirl27 She lists in her book The Green Smoothies Diet page 99 the different combinations she uses such as garlic, onions, hot peppers, apple cider vinegar with ground cloves, diatomaceous earth, marigolds, etc.
