A swather comes by first and makes windrows. The crop lays like that for a little while to dry faster. It's primarily for moisure/drying combined with the particular conditions facing farmers in eastern Sask and Manitoba which is not friendly to "straight cut" using a conventional grain header.

i build the grain tanks and expansion units for all the combines sold from Class Omaha. hell, i probably worked on the ones on those three combines. they really are neat machines when you know what all goes into one.
haha just cause it was german people who came up with good stuff like bmw and mercedes and claas and krone and i don't know what more doesn't make you a special or intelligent just cause you are german.

The sight of those machines moving in perfect formation is awesome. Notice that they move in alternating stripes, not overlapping ones, so that they can stay a safe distance apart as they move. Its more impressive than a fly past of jet fighters
No different than any other big farmer. Actually, if you calculate it out, they probably have much less land per person because they are so efficient and they live very cheaply.

Look again. The windrows are side by side. Probably windrowed with a 30' McDon swather. The Hutterites are some good farmers.
