  • @videochemist you are comparing a negative with positive....even me > jobs, it means nothing

  • Comment removed

  • attacking ships with software - cracked me up. More people should take a stand against the misuse of some terminologies and even slang words like he is. Besides the ones who do not wish to be persecuted for sharing their stuff.

    thank you Stallman

  • Stallman is so damn hilarious. He is a god!

  • Stallman > Jobs

  • respect to the founder

  • I was born in 1984, GNU was born in 1984... coincidence? I fully back GNU slash Linux. I am a more appealing to the eye, and with my help I will takeover proprietary software. Apple and Microsoft are going in the dumpster behind our homes.

  • they're the gurus :) of the open source -----> really thnx , to them , CREDITS and MERITS, deserve by these GURUS, :-)

  • Thanks for the great video! If you need help installing, configuring, or setting up zen cart, check out our channel for lots of Easy Help Zen Cart Tutorials:

  • decent chap.

  • That one dislike is Steve Ballmer and Steve Jobs pressing it at the same time on the same account, ISuckCocks69

  • bill gates disliked this video.

  • @kharnvelzyghur Nope, hairdressers and fashion designers.

  • Why is this video titled "Go Open"? Richard Stallman advocates for Free Software not Open Source. He advocates for free society, free culture, nothing to do with anything "open". I hate when people interview RMS while having no knowledge of who he is and what he stands for.

  • @TheJakeDTH Agreed. It's so easy for people to educate others and themselves.

  • I am glad to have met and spoken to Richard in person.

  • this man could have been a billionaire if his motive was profit back in the 80's

a rare personality in this world

  • the pirate line made me laugh, and these days they don't even have to kill the crew of ships they attack, but it can happen :( mostly the insurance companies pay out the hostage fee

  • @o0smokingmonk0o I think on the piracy issue, rms could update his terminology. He knows well, that the term piracy is used and popularized people who has similar or even more radical views on software/cultural freedom than he. "Software piracy" coming from the corporate scene, was subverted and turn to a gathering point for citizen's sharing (tbp, pirate parties, and so on.) I would be way happier if it would join organically somehow to the Free Software Movement.

  • At 7:19 he explains that he doesn't care if programmers can make a living, that they'll still write software regardless of whether they can get paid doing it or not.

  • Good man he is...

  • Richard Stallman knows all, sees all.

  • soo u ask to the expert?.. of he going to tell u open source is the best. jajajaaj. but the sad truth is. is jst a bunch of 0 n1. always can be cracked. always have really bad programmers, they make mistake. security level not only depends of sw level, but from other factors. open source is secure!. jajajaja. LIEEEEEEEEE!

  • of course the hotdog maker dnt give u free hotdog

  • Richard Stallman = the Software Jesus

  • I love you Mr. Stallman.

  • You rule Richard !!!! Thank you !!!!

  • Word on the street is that Stallman stinks like he's never heard of bathing before. Seeing a million videos with greasy hair and dirty finger nails, I'll say that they are probably correct. Let's not forget the time he ate the dead skin off of his foot in the middle of a Q and A session in Canada. Absolutely disgusting.

  • @GalacticGuardian Are you so pathetic that you judge people by their hygiene and not by who they are? As long as you're not in the same room as him I don't see how it's your problem, so why defame him on the basis of something completely irrelevant?

  • @wizfizzz A person's hygiene IS a part of who they are. His mentality allows him to be a filthy stink-bag. It's a key part of who he is.

  • @GalacticGuardian Dude...Thats richard stallman....A textbook geekish nerd...Could have made millions. Its people like them who are so passionate about an idea, that they even forget their own hygiene...(True or not)

  • what a fukken nerd

  • i love when he says his definition of piracy. it always makes me laugh. i wish more people adopted his philosophies.

  • @9:10

  • i thought richard stallman was a serial killer?

  • hä?

  • You thought wrong.

  • obviously.

  • Why ask then... ;)

  • it was a rhetorical question little one. clearly its because i THOUGHT beforehand thats who he was.

  • @lennartz79 I understand where you are coming from, that software is a product. However, it is intangible and unlimited amounts of it can be created. Why, then, should it be paid for with something that is, in theory, tangible (ie money)? Eventually, paying for software might actually cause a seeming black hole in a nation's GDP and all the money will begin to pool in the hands of proprietary software companies. More or less, it is an issue of conservation of mass and how it applies to GDP.

  • Money is not tangible and if the federal reserve stopped constantly printing money all the money would sooner or later end up in the banks because when the banks lend out money they expect to get more money back than what they loaned out. Money could be tangible, but it is not today, as we are using fiat money.

  • TRUE STORY.

  • I wanna hug Richard XP

    ^.^

  • Big thanks to Stallman for his GCC(The GNU Compiler), without GCC Linus where not able to make Linux(or Freax(Free, Freak, Last X of the Unix) how he called it first time :) )...

  • i trol u

  • Yeah right. That's why this very site and thousands of others use free software to run. Many run on linux and youtube uses mysql for example.

  • Fail?! If it wasn't for this "Fail" today you would be using whatever the big corporations would have you use and it would be crappy systems all around. And the internet would be retarded.

Don't speak of things you don't understand.

  • And I quote: "And the internet would be retarded".

  • You seem to have a hard time understanding things, so I'm not gonna push you.

  • You Rule Richard !!!!

  • he's a G :)

  • "Go Open"... :-\

    GO FREE!!!!

  • maybe they should call it user controlled software or something.

  • Dos is an operating system....any code that is in software form even if it is installed onto firmware is an operating system and if you are talking about the giant punch cardf powerhouses then well yes you are right if it is the size of a warehouse it doesnt need an operating system just a crew of 50

  • lol - you embaressing moron. The word by its very definition shows that OBVIOUSLY an operating system is needed. its a system, that operates. ALL COMPUTERS NEED OPERATING SYSTEMS You god damn retarded noob.

  • you are the retard here. you dont even know what an operating system is kid.

  • You're embressing yourself. Computers need operating systems. They don't have to be as bloated or even in the same style as what we're used to, but they all have operating systems of sorts - end of story. You fail.

  • You're really nit-picking here .Clearly he meant that if you don't have an operating system, you cannot really do anything useful or productive with a computer because it would only do one thing. Basic digital household appliances are an example - computers with no operating system that are programmed just do a few things.

  • that's one dope ass beard he's rockin there

  • LEGALIZE IT INTERCONECTION

  • Very smart guy. I don't fully agree with everything he says, but he makes some good points.

  • Richard Stallman sure looks like a Genius. I went to see a lecture by him recently, it was pretty cool. After all these years he is still hard working.
