I'm from Abbeville,AL ya'll. That's his hometown. I remember watching Porter as a lil kid when he was in high school. The gym would be packed. Standing room only. We won the State title. That Auburn team he played on was great though.
man porter was a damn beast!..i could honestly say i never watched auburn play until i seen this cat on tv one night..dude was very explosive and had hops out of this world...i heard he is playing ball over in china..
One of the BEST college basketball teams NO ONE will ever remember...they killed everyone!...and this Dunk...I havenever seen a crowd go crazier...Used to see him in the Haley Center all the time...Was a TA for Doc Robinson and Jay Heard...
I was so happy when I watched the draft the year he got drafted. I was hella hoping my Warriors picked him, and they with like the 55th or 56th pick. Too bad his journey in the NBA didn't work out. That one year he played with the Warriors, he looked like he was going to be a big part to their future.
i kno him personally, i use to look up to him i mean he is the only one to make to the pros from our area. but i blame his mom. she's a crack head and he jus took after her. im glad his sister robin didnt. i think she'll make it to the wnba. she doin her thing at Mississippi state. cant knock him tho he trying to come back to the nba
he is now playing for fujian in china basketball association and i guess he is still blowing everyone away. i really hope that he can go back to the nba
This guy Chris Porter is really good. He played for Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings in the Philippines and he was so damn good. It was heartbreaking when they lost the semis. But I remember watching him and this guy can really elevate...I mean whoa really...he blew everyone off.. If I'm not mistaken he was averaging 27rebounds per game as an import...The fans are still hoping he'd come back for the same team.
He was good. Lets be honest with ourselves though, he wasn't the first great athlete, and won't be the last, to have off field/court issues that prevented him from reaching his full potential at the next level. What a shame, but what a jam.
Man why would such a great athlete ruin his career the way he did. He could've had a long career in the NBA. The dunk against LSU was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in basketball.
I thought Porter would be an awesome NBA player shame

That 1999 Auburn team came out of nowhere that year, one of the best coaching jobs ever in college basketball.
No one, and I mean no one thought they could be a #1 seed, too bad they lost to Ohio State.

I was at this game, right behind this goal. The whole arena erupted like a volcano. It was awesome.

Why didn't Porter go to the NBA? What happened?

Chris made some bad choices with his life. He has since cleaned up and the last I heard was a star in the Phillipines(cant think of the team)

He was the g.s. warriors and as pcbtiger mentioned, he made some bad choices in life.

I'll never forget watching "the dunk" in person. It is such a shame that he couldn't get things together on a personal level.
