  • Scottiedo85= great point... So, my question, are "we" saying these ancient mormons were aztecs or mayans.. Or whosever #s fit? And, I thought jsmith said these ppls land was in ny.. Where he "found" plates?

  • Would your body last thousands of years? Between nature and animals?

  • Don't tell me the remaining two dozen survived Nephites cleaned up the battle field. During the First Jewish–Roman War in 64 AD we can still find skeletal remains from that battle. Have you found any evidence that proves this battle in your book of mormon exists? If not please call your book The book of Moron and not the book of mormon.

  • So according to the book of Mormon 200,000 Nephites were killed by the Lamanite army by swords, axes, bows and arrows in the battle between the Lamanite and Nephites. Right? So what happened to their bodies? Or the weapons they used? Don't tell me the Nephites fight bare handed and they have no bones in their bodies. I mean 200,000 bodies (not including any Lamanite killed in battle) won't just dissappear in thin air.

  • So what weapon did they use for that war?

  • Shouldn't the Mayan calendar system reflect the Hebrew's since they both came from the same culture? I'm afraid your train of thought has proven the Mesoamerican record keeping system did not originate from the Israelites. The BoM records many other Hebrew traditions kept through the generations, but not the majorly important technology of time keeping?

  • Great opposition and much persecution followed the believers of [the Book of Mormon's] authenticity; but it had now come to pass that truth had sprung out of the earth; and righteousness had looked down from heaven—so we feared not our opponents, knowing that we had both truth and righteousness on our side; that we had both the Father and the Son, because we had the doctrines of Christ and abided in them Joseph Smith

  • Wonderful video, backyard professsor. The anti mormon critics are wallowing in hate and anguish with your wonderful videos.!

  • So the Mayans must be the Lamanites!

    You proved it. Yawn.

  • It never fails. Evertime i watch one of these BOM Evidence videos i never say any evidence! Just a buncha "Scholars" talking over pictures or land

  • Simple ignorance is often blamed for Mormonism's negative image, but

Lawrence concludes it is also driven by fear--fear of a supposed

political agenda, wealth, organizational ability, unwavering

doctrine, and a unique vocabulary that is often misunderstood. He

explains that individual members in their daily interactions with

    others are the key

  • We should always remember the admonition in the Book of

Mormon: "and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of

his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and

white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the

heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile" (2 Nephi

    26:33).

  • I hope we all go out of our way to welcome in all of our brothers

and sisters in Christ and reach out to them. I also hope that we

familiarize ourselves with the facts and don't simply perpetuate

    myths.

  • byp: I wanna talk to you wouterunderscoresmekensatyahoodotcom I think I have something of interest for you!

  • byp, I love you, but it sucks, really, listening to your shouting for longer than a minute! - especially when one DOES believe you, like I do, but aren't we mormons supposed NOT to scold to people as if they are d*mb*sses? would you please soften your tone? you are worse than Alex Jones(although ALSO him I adore!)

  • @anisuthideyakoindu

Oh yikes. I am speaking louder because of the wind, and I was at a distance. Sorry, I can and will tone it down.....

  • i was always interested in the history of the americas .a long time ago i was watching a very old documentary about some explorers traveling deep in the peruvian jungle, and they found this tribe practicly isolated from the modern world and one of the explorers asked the chief of the tribe, a very old man,"in what do you believe, what is your religion"and his aswer was"our god once came to visit us ,did wonderful things then he went back to heaven and promised us that 1 day he will return"

  • I see. The author isn't saying the Mayans were the Nephites, only that there's a correlation. The BoM 400 years is a prophecy (as you stated), not some kind of calendar cycle, so this is really desperate. The Mayans wrote in hieroglyphs, not in reformed Egyptian or Hebrew. They didn't use a monetary system of gold and silver. The Mayan's history and Bible DON'T correlate to the BoM. Mayan's aren't genetically linked to Israelites, and on and on... Authoru is ignoring already known facts.

  • @kramd1 LOL! Sure it is.....I suppose it would be too much for me to ask you for chapter and verse eh? If your history is as lousy as your scriptural understanding, I won't be listening to you for enlightenment - GRIN!

  • Comment removed

  • @kramd1

I take this as your defeat that you cannot provide a scriptural reference to your insanely idiotic contention? The coke comment......

  • The BY Professor does not know where Zarahemla is because the B of M is a Novel. There is No evidence found anywhere to suggest these people existed.

thanks anyway to I don't Know in Idaho.

  • @kramd1

Once again, if Zarahemla is literally found by non-LD archaeologists and they PROVE it was the Book of Mormon city, would *that* convince yo to repent of yor sins, be baptized in the church, accept what Joseph Smith taught, and become a Mormon?

  • @TheBackyardProfessor IF ,,,, well the they might find all the other things mentioned in the Book of Mormon. That did not exist in the americas. Namely:

SILK,CHARIOTS OR WHEELS, 7 DAY WEEK, BELLOWS, IRON, STEEL SWORDS, WHEAT, BARLEY, CATTLE, OXEN, HORSES, GOATS,SHEEP, PIGS, ELEPHANTS and JESUS.

  • @kramd1 Acutally, the visit of Jesus Christ has been substantiated in many Native legends. They all describe him as a loving, white bearded god who established his church throughout all the land. Every nation or tribe had 12 disciples. You can look this up: The Bearded White God of Ancient America: The Legend of Quetzalcoatl by Donald H. Hemmingway, and

    (Larger Image)

Fair Gods and Feathered Serpents: A Search for Ancient America's Bearded White God by Terry J. O'Brien.

  • Very well. I have a question. A sensible question. A question that will tax your I.Q. to its very limits, and stretch the sinews of you knowledge to bursting point.

The question is this: Given that God is infinite, and that the universe is also infinite...

    where is Zarahemla today?

  • interesting.

Your argument is; numerous references of a 400 reference "Boctune" (spelling ? ) in the Bof M are evidence of aztec calendar keeping ?

    Q. where is Zarahemla today?

  • @kramd1

What does the location of Zarahemla have to do with the content of this particular video?

  • Your claiming that the BofM contains evidence of Mayan calendar keeping.

sorry I could not see any reference to 400 years in 2 Nephi 9-10 it says "three generations...and many hundred years..." not 400 years and there is NO mention of a boctune (sp) in any of the other references.

    not very convincing ...proof not.

  • The references that he uses from the BoM apply to one event (the falling of people's faith after Christ's visit). This proves that the author(s) of the BoM were relatively consistent. It does not suggest that the BoM peoples used a 400 year cyclic calendar to tell time like the Mayans.

  • Dude you still didnt prove any place or any history or any artifacts that these places and people exits.

You are saying these indians existed and things happened at the same time. But you read this.. You show us dates.

    No mainstream evidence.

    No references.

Dont just believed what your told. Where is the evidence you say is there???!

  • They have an axe to grind, I suppose.

in an ever changing world and one with increasing wickedness and godlessness, one would think that a second witness of the divinity of Christ would be welcomed with open arms. Mark my words... if a man had to face life or death because an atheist were to say that he only had faith in a Jewish God, and with a gun to his head, would he remember about this book? Would he plead for his life saying that another BOOK acts as evidence?

  • Joseph Smith believed that the Book of Mormon took place in Central America at least since 1842.

"We have found another important fact relating to the truth of the Book of Mormon. Central America, or Guatemala, is situated north of the Isthmus of Darien and once embraced several hundred miles of territory from north to south.—The city of Zarahemla, burnt at the crucifixion of the Savior, and rebuilt afterwards, stood upon this land"

-Times and Seasons OCT. 1, 1842

    Not a "new" idea

  • So.. is there any credible ***archaeological*** evidence for the Book of Mormon? Or are these similarities and parallels between Mesoamerican cultures the best they've come up with? Not very convincing.. there should be a wealth of archaeological, linguistic and DNA evidence to support a civilization as large and advanced as the Nephites..

Also why do people think these Book of Mormon civilizations were in Mesoamerica? Joseph Smith obviously didn't think so.. see his story of Zelph..

  • @NavajoJoe66

There *SHOULD* be a wealth of archaeological evidences? How come? Is this true of ALL the ancient civilizations that existed? Surely you *****JEST******!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheBackyardProfessor

with all this conclusive archaeological evidence you spruk in the B of M you still can't pinpoint Zarahemla.

Where is Zarahemla , professor ? do we know?

It is the major Nephite strong hold city mentioned through out the B of M

do you have a clue ?

  • @kramd1

When its found will you become a Mormon and believe?

  • @kramd1 Why? Come now, surely you know what I am driving at. Will you join the church and belief all the rest of what the Book of Mormon teaches if Zarahemla IS found and authenticated?

  • @TheBackyardProfessor

I'll take that as . You don't know.

  • @kramd1

    You're wrong.

  • @TheBackyardProfessor

    Wrong ?

WHERE IS ZARAHEMLA ? is the question.

what is the name place today ?

    a real simple question for

    I don't have a clue in Idaho.

  • @kramd1

If I show you Zarahemla, will you join the Mormon church, believe in Joseph Smith as a *true* prophet, and accept ALL of the Book of Mormon?

  • @TheBackyardProfessor , in my opinion you're asking a lot of kramd1. He could convert, but it needs to be a spiritual conversion -- then the Archaeological evidence follows afterwards. ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @kramd1

here's a good link to some evidence of the b.o.m. that has just recently surfaced. Not that any true believer really needs evidence, because a testimony should be based on faith, but seeing these evidences appear before our very eyes sure makes it a lot easier to be rooted in the b.o.m.

  • for some reason it won't let me past the link but if you search Nahom in the book of mormon on youtube you'll find a few very interesting videos produced by the Neal A. Maxwell Institute that do a great job unearthing these descoveries and truly bringing knowledge of the book of mormon to light.

  • @TheBackyardProfessor

Well, there should be SOME sort of evidence to support the existence of a highly literate, scientifically and culturally advanced Judeo-Christian civilization that numbered in the millions as recently as 1600 years ago. Too bad there is not.

  • @NavajoJoe66 there's hebrew on stones found on different places in the americas - go to the smithsonian and ask them to shw their hidden artifact(actually you can ORDER it, since you have the right to see)

  • @anisuthideyakoindu There hasn't been any pre-Columbian Hebrew carvings found on stones in the Americas, sorry. Please educate yourself. Also, the Smithsonian has issued a statement that it does not consider the Book of Mormon to be a historical record.

  • what about the realistic meeting that had taken place in 1974, where Dr. Reed Durham openly revealed joseph smith's known practice in the occult, in witchcraft, in pagan theologies, as he used the jupiter symbolic coin for his own selfish gains in money, sex, and to control and lie and manipulate as many people as possible,, why then did the masses want him stopped,, ?? do some research into the jupiter coin and u will see the truth about smith and his occult worship,

  • I have, and you are woefully outdated. Do you really think we LDS scholars sit around doing nothing all day?! The FARMS reviewers destroyed all this evidence you pretend is so real.

  • @TheBackyardProfessor

So, the cat is finally out of the bag!!

It's FARMS that has been destroying all the "evidence" that the anti-Mormons have been looking for.

I knew they were tampering with evidence....

  • The Book of Mormon is a volume of holy scripture comparable to the Bible and is a record of God's dealings with His chosen people in the New World. The main purpose of the Book of Mormon is "to the convincing of Jew and Gentile that JESUS is the CHRIST, the ETERNAL GOD, manifesting himself unto all nations." (Book of Mormon Title Page) It was written by ancient American prophets for our day (Mormon 8:35) and is an American testament of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Referenced evidence please. Please cite the mainstream, peer-reviewed publications that contain the information.

  • Lanny Bell Egyptologist , 2008 printed it IN writing.

Also slammed the anti-mormon Charles Larson depiction of the facsimilie 1 and said he is complete wrong. However Lanny Bell gives Joseph Smith credit where credit is due though doesn't entirely agree.

  • americantestamentdotblogspotdotcom

  • You really have no idea what you are talking about, I hope someday you will take the beam out your eye before you go passing judgement.

Ignorance is bliss. Next time try watching the video before commenting in ignorance.

  • Do you all know what faith is? AFTER you have studied the Book of Mormon, Moroni says, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true . . ." I suggest you show some faith in Jesus Christ and ask if it is true for yourself.

  • The Book of Mormon is purely religious fiction. If Mr. Smith's fantastical tales of ancient North America were even partly correct, MOUNTAINS of evidence would be literally overflowing the anthropologist's and archaeologist's storage rooms! No such evidence exists.

  • From what i know the book of mormon sites were found in centeral america

Look it it and you will find proof there i promise

  • I've looked into it. Nothing mainstream archaeology would consider proof.

  • watch the video "DNA vs. The Book of Mormon" on youtube. It will clear everything up. There is no (as in none at all anywhere) evidence to support the BOM.

  • This claim is often made, but is never substantiated. I suggest you actually do your own independent research before accepting it at face value simply because it confirms what you already believe.

  • Independent research? Sure let me just go to my lab, since according to you the vast majority of archeological evidence is trying to fool us.

  • Not only no evidence exists for the BOM, all of the mountain of evidence (DNA, archeological, linguistic), are directly against it! TheBackyardProfessor really needs to understand the futility of his "scholarly research".

  • I've read all the references - the word Baktun isn't used. That would have been substantive. Which edition is he using? Are you also going to say there is evidence of horses, bees and scimitars etc. at the time the events of the Book of Mormon are purported to depict?

  • The worlds of Joseph Smith

    by John E. Clark

  • you mention page numbers, but you never mentioned what book you are quoting from.

  • This is my second and third time through your videos! It's amazing how I get something more and new each time I listen.

I have had many critics come at me and its nice to have this information on hand

    your the best

  • i know its windy and you feel like you need to talk loud but you are easier to listen to when your not talking quite so loud other then that bravo !!!!

love it love it love it !!

    thank you

  • very enlightening !!

    thank you
