This is not a back extension. It is a half-superman. You are telling people to hyperextend their back into an unnatural positon, which compresses their spine. I'm not sure where you learned this stuff, but I think it's time to go back to school.
@ffryan unnatural position? This position is just fine- lets remember that the squat compresses the spin more than a superman does(newtons of force). The exercise is just fine and lets remember the spine is often in positions just like this- and you ever see a lordotic curve or a kyphotic curve? you need to perform exercise like this to help improve forward pelvic tilt and correct posture.
