First off, 600s pull as hard as a fucking 1 legged newborn baby. Second, Dead Snow is an AWESOME movie. Not very scary, but hands down one of the best zombie movies I've ever seen.
It's really hard for someone who's never had a cam shoved up their nose to fully appreciate how good it feels to no longer suffer! I keep asking myself: How the heck did I put up with it for SO long? As for the mic, I glued a windscreen on mine. I got it from B&H. It's called 9071830 Fuzzy Windjammer for lavalier microphones. I didn't do a proper comparison test. I just figured it's GOTTA be better than the stock mic cover that comes with the Drift mic.
@dprider02 Yeah, I just had to join the whore group..lol. Feels so great not having a camera up my nose, cant believe I waited this long to make the leap. Will check out Shawn of the Dead, have never seen it.
Angle looks good, very clear picture as well. Are you still using Windows Movie Maker for edit/upload? I know what it feels like to hit the ground @ 50 mph, so there was no way I would ever be comfortable with having a camera share the same space with my face, lol. Unrelated note - for some reason YouTube is not notifying me when you upload, it does on most others. :(
@XXX526 Actually I have been using Sony Vegas 11 HD for the Drift Vids i have been posting. I have one uploading now that is just raw footage, want to see how it compares. Yeah, I heard YT has been having probs with the sub box for several days now.
Congrats on joining the Drift cult! check out how I put the mic in my Scorpion helmet in my drift tips and tricks video... also play with mic sensitivity.. I totally don't miss the camera in the helmet either..
@dafobra Thanks..it really is a great camera, just wish Drift would fix some of the small problems with it. Shouldnt be to difficult with a firmware upgrade, but I guess they are to busy with the new baby Drift HD.
@cashstore1 Weather has been pretty much perfect for the month of Oct. Wish it would stay this way year round. And I will see if I can find the Dead Alive flick.
Turn down the mic sensitivity and move the mic from you mouth. I have been playing around with it too. I really like the drift and you are right better than a camera stuck up your nose :)
Oh no Mike, they got you too....I can see the VH-1 special "Behind the Music...MotoVlogging"....Interviewer- "Billy....can I call you billmaa? " Me- "sure, I guess" Interviewer - "billmaa...When did you know that motovlogging was over?" Me- "Well ...(long pause)..., it was the rise of the Drift whores" hahahah
@billmaa hahaha, think this piece of equipment is a must for any motovlogger. Wish I hadnt waited so damn long to get one. Kind of an impulse buy, but damn it is worth it. Speaking of "Rise of the Drift Whores"...think it about time you dusted yours off for a vid or two...hint hint.
Drift angle is just great, have the same. For the mic I put this up behind the padding on my helmet to the right around my forehead. For me that works great.
Camera angle looks good! If that was the ext mic you may want to buy or make a windsock. I made a pretty beefy one out of a bit of foam and microfiber cloth, no wind noise even with the shield up.
@Itsreload Cant believe I took this long to get and external setup. Soooo much better than having the camera stuffed up your nose. You will enjoy the new HD when you get yours in.
@Snowhite808 That was with the external mic, but I am going to play around with the position of the mic in the helmet. I was just so giddy about getting the camera yesterday, didnt do a lot of testing. Hopefully after I get back this weekend I will have some time to play around and see what works best.
@Snowhite808 There is a rubber boot that goes on the back that the cord of the mic passes through. I wouldnt really call it a great attribute, but it works I guess. Im sure it would work well enough to keep most rain out, unless you are riding in a hurricane type storm..lol. Im sure Drift would be able to create another back door with rubberized opening for the Stealth just like they have done on the new HD model coming out. Just depends on if they would ever do it or not.
Great to see you riding the bike again finally. I bet it's cooled down there quite a bit. And welcome to the freaking external helmet camera club! Feels much better. And 600's are just fine torque wise...just downshift 2-3 gears and ring its neck. :) Nothing compares to 1000cc+ for torque though...feels amazing. It's funny you already imagined to get a bug right on the lens hahah. I haven't yet and you did first video. Probably because you were riding near sunset.
@ToastToGo When I passed that truck and trailer that was a 4th gear 50 to 90 roll on. I will still say the 600cc I-4s have more than enough torque for the average rider to get into trouble with..lol. Yeah the weather has been awesome since we rolled into Oct. Mid 80s during the day and low 60s at night. Cant beat it. Wish it would stay that way forever. Btw, when are you picking up that new Ninja 1000??????
I like the new camera angle.I'm not really into horror flicks,my older brother loves them. But i do like more of the comedy ones, like "Army of Darkness" and "Shaun of the Dead".
@pulse0000 I guess watching the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre when I was a kid put the horror movie genre in my blood and I have loved it ever since. Evil Dead is the first in the series for Army of Darkness if you have never seen it. Great Movie.
good stuff man :-D i like the angle, i personally prefer to have it a bit higher so you can see the side of the visor. but thats my opinion. - Tip: try butting the mic inside the cheek pad, it cuts wind noise
@roboticdolphin I can truly understand why this is the de facto vlogging camera these days. The camera is a bit bigger than what I thought it was going to be, but I dont even notice it attached to the helmet at all.
I live about 10 minutes from were you passed Fazios

@808yewtube Thanks for the tip, got a test vid uploading as we speak using the Fuzzy Windjammer. Seems to help quite a bit.

Drift whores! LOL Looks good man!
Probably see a firmware upgrade for the mic clipping, me thinks 8-)
BrianWest58 4 months ago
@BrianWest58 I am hoping so...would be the greatest thing they have done since releasing the camera.
Wilks89 4 months ago
Sooo many Drift whores! LOL. The angle looks good, btw. When I got the view the way I wanted with mine, I taped the swivel lens in place.
For a change of pace, try "Sean of the Dead". Very funny zombie movie :)

The first time I used the Drift and didnt have to stick a camera in my face was the best moment ever in my motovlogging life.
Congrats on joining the Drift club :)

Sounds like using the internal mic on that Drift?
+ If one still-z the vid You can see that the cam is always tilted. So maybe try and get it straight. Doesnt hurt the viewers neck so much ;)
Cheers!

@Wilks89 Does using the Ext mic on that make it not rain proof???
it kinda seems to me like if you connect the external mic on Drift HD, the rear hatch stays open and the rain and stuff can get in??
