  • Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer is at the Piano writing a song. "There was noting in Capone's vault. But it wasn't Geraldo's fault. Hey, this thing writes itself!"

  • I lost respect for this man when he hosted a show called Now It Can Be Told. He stated that Sharon Tate was stabbed in the womb at 81/2 months pregnant. That was a lie! The autopsy report confirmed she had not been stabbed in the womb. He stated Jayne Mansfield was decapitated. That was a lie. The autopsy confirmed she had not been decapitated. He is a greedy, money hungry sleaze who will do and hurt anyone for ratings.

  • THE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION ARE IN AL CAPONE'S VAULT !

He says he was humiliated is he humiliated or ashamed about the 1 million dead Iraqi's as a result of ripping apart Iraqi society caused by an illegal invasion and occupation on the basis of the lie of WMD that he promoted !!??

  • i even read about this as a blooper and him singing...

  • what about his drug busts episodes?

  • come on guys al capone was a ganster do you think he would hide his vault where it would ever be found.

    michelle

  • @exo26921 they weren't glass bottles, they were diamond!

  • I remember watching this and being sorely disappointed when he wimped out of singing a song. How was that "keeping his word" ? So much for integrity. Forget the fact that the vault was empty, that was a hit or miss shot anyways. Geraldo just showed that he was a bitch.

  • @2Twisted4NE1 Haha... I like how this Fucker said " Then i swallowed my pride and kept my word" This guy sang about 3 seconds of the song and fucking cheesed it!!!

  • I love Geraldo.

  • have to say, was this a sign of things to come as it was an unplanned reality TV show

  • It was highly rated because it was Capone's vault. Still a total fail.

  • Geraldo Rivera = dipstick

  • Much ado about nothing...

  • Broadcast live on April 21st, 1986. The day I was born.

  • @GunstarHer0X Maybe they found you in the vault? o,o

  • Eventually, when they open up Geraldo's brain, they'll be just as disappointed.

  • @Flockengruven ahahahahahahahaha that's freakin hilarious

  • How many years later they found it. They didnt even know about it so after Capone went to jail he probably had his associates go in the vault and move everything. Capone most likely knew that after his arrest they would raid the hotel potentially finding his tunnels and vaults. Little did he know they wouldnt find this until years later. Turns out after this tv event he had the last laugh. Speaking of which what happened to Lexington hotel, is it still standing? im assuming no right?

  • to Geraldo it contained ratings and he found em all

  • reminds me of uhf...

    aha! road maps!

  • what was there to find?? Al Capone was an unstoppable criminal but his vault?? It's not like he's an Egyptian prince with gold coins coming out of his ass.

  • Damn, I remember this..."well, we didn´t found anything here...". An uncomfortable silence in the room where I watched this with my parents. "Anyone wants something to eat?" "Yeah, let´s go", TV off...what an embarassment.

  • I remember watching this on tv..came on right after Wheel of Fortune :)

  • Geraldo = TOOL

  • Biggest FAIL ever broadcasted on television.

  • I remember that broadcast. It was uncomfortable to watch after they found nothing.... poor guy

  • hes such a jackass. "i was wrong, i looked like an ass and nothing was in there, but at least my ratings were high!" Congrats you arrogant tool lol

  • if that MORON Geraldo just did his PROPER HOME WORK

Capone did not need a vault to hide loot in...MOST EVADENT is this little FACT

Capone did not come back and get anything from that basement

Iv seen this whole show and it was a CROCK OF BAD REPORTING FROM DAY ONE~!

  • @NebbishKnows It wasn't a report. It was entertainment and it pulled in the ratings

seems you don't understand the priorities here

  • awww he looks cute when he is singing at the end.

  • It's still funny. Logically speaking Capone had plenty of time to clear out his vault.

  • This guy was the punch line to a million jokes before this event. Didn't he realize that a smart criminal would clean out the safe @ the first sign of trouble or when they move out? His moustache is an alien life form that has control of his brain. They are symbiotic.

  • I have the complete special and the show was good. You learned lots about Capone and they had some rare footage. Yes, the ending was embarrassing but the show was still good.

  • Geraldo knew he'd never find anything. It was all a game. Dont belive this mans BS.

  • zero point zero

  • I have a vault that contains Geraldo's moustache.

  • lol why would he leave anything in the vault.... it's not Indian Jones

  • @BeAsTm0aD lol well you`re right about one thing... it`s NOT `indian jones`

  • @nakabar lol like why would there be "secret treasure.. ooooo!" I just don't think realistically, when they abandoned that place, that they would leave anything behind. That's what I meant by Indiana Jones :P cause he always finds secret treasure.

  • before he went in he said what if anything does this vault contain? ok he didnt expect much big deal

  • Insulting Geraldo makes it all better -_______-

  • Geraldo was and still is the biggest idiot , creep in media.

  • geraldo is a creap!

  • Geraldo is a dumb fuck!

  • There aint no vault Al CApone was Too smart for that!

  • I can't believe they ever thought a vault was there. I made several forays into that building when I heard the story in 1981. That area was raised up in the 1910's by walling off the street 10 feet out from the bldg, and then vaulting the sidewalk with I-beams. It formed an open area under the sidewalk. The street was raised between these walls. They caved in years later, and Chicago filled in the voids with rubble, and put a sidewalk back in place. It was clear to anyone in the basement.

  • if you ever watch a mystery movie you;d know its not about what you find its all about the adventure.

  • @XXRevolveXX awesome. your comment really got to me. Nice one

  • was that Ron Burgundy

  • LeBron James' BSPN infomercial was the biggest pile of dog crap since Geraldo opened Al Capone's vault.

Geraldo made a bundle off Capone's vault. He laughed his way all the way to the bank. At least he has a sense of humor.

  • Al Capone thought, "Eighty years from now some jerk with a funny moustache is gonna want to come in here so I'll pull a fast one on him ahead of time..."

  • Geraldo is a nimrod!

  • Only thing that would have been worse is Rick Roll come from inside the vault and Rick Rolled the world!

  • woulda been great if he actually sang a song

  • Just a Mr Zillionaire, again! Zakaria & Khir Totoil tertulang.

  • The corrugated iron roofs spirit - 鬼 or 靈魂神 (Lewinsohn, maybe this is another). Lewinsky Monica (CIA head) was Al-Capone, Bill Clinton, 1996. Both pretended succumbed, but the impeachment on the people's greatest representative was real. Zillions was sent to Osama Ben Laden in penjara BNM, CPF & a personal National Pride National Accountant's somebody else account.

  • There was actually an episode of The Real Ghostbusters that Mochs this event. It was a pretty good one.

  • Rick Astley should've been in there waiting for him.

  • my dad told me about this. so u mean to tell me that it never occured to these big tv executives to atleast look inside before making it a big national telivised LIVE event. i mean they could have busted the door down and re concreted it up. or something. what idiots guess theres a first and last time for everything.

  • what the fuck did they think will be there?

  • its stuff like this that makes a project take 10 times longer then it should

  • This douchebag and his Cheech Marin mustache should both go Up In Smoke

  • Comment removed

  • I wish a real Natural Born Killer would find this douche and make him dance.

  • He will never live this down.

  • I remember watching this when it was first on. Man was I bummed (although not at Geraldo) when they found nothing. I am some what surprised that Geraldo would put himself that far out on a limb....I mean this would be like saying....."hey I'm going to start digging a ditch and Ill just betcha there is something down there". He is still in my top 2 favorite TV hosts

  • i hope u don't mind me asking, who's the other?

  • On the Geraldo Scale of Fail:

Getting hit in the nose with a chair thrown by a skin head > Al Capone's Vault

  • I bet he robbed that shit the day before

  • #FAIL

  • in Geraldos mind he is only two degerees of seperation from anything that ever happened to anyone EVER! Im convinced he would shoot his wife live on cam if it would make his ratings spike .01%

  • what an insight into Geraldos mentality..."I MADE AN ASS OUTTA MY SELF BUT HEY I GOT GREAT RATINGS" what an asshole

  • I would have been more interested in what they had found in Al Capones glove compartment!

  • The vault should have held this assholes' brain.

  • @madisonelectronic YESSSSSSSSS WHAT A DUMB SHIT

  • Don't bash geraldo. He has one of the most legendary mustaches in history along with Rollie fingers.

  • Heralda is one of the biggest scuz balls on TV.

  • This was such bullshit. I remember staying up that night to see what/if anything would be in that vault . . . NOTHING. We were duped. Geraldo knew there was not a damn dime in that freakin vault, he set us up for the ratings.

  • i don't agree. nobody knew what was going or not going to be in that vault

  • The highest rated syndicated show on tv and there is only 3 videos on youtube on this special and one of those is just a trailer promo? that's it? where can I watch it?

  • i remember watching this on t.v... what a let down!

  • What a moron.

  • penis

  • gay

  • "Keep your eyes glued to that set until the station signs off. I can assure you that what you will observe is a vast wasteland."

    - Newton. N. Minow

  • There was nothing in Al Capooone's vault..

    But it wasn't Geraaaldooo's fault..

    Doh!

  • @plasticxstigmata: Which episode?

  • @Lemon77UG Homer's Barbershop Quartet

  • geraldo is a bitch, he blabbed our positions out while in iraq, what a snitch.

  • This episode sank his career, but all in all I always like him as a reporter. Didn't think too much of his talk show though. Was to much like Phil Donahue but a little edgier.

  • What are you talking about? This was a special, not a show... and it did not sink his career, if anything it elevated it. From this he got a syndicated talk show which was a huge success and went on to successful hard news programs on CNBC and Fox News. Get your head out of your ass and get your facts straight!

  • Wow, you are slightly,, no massively mistaken. He admits himself he became the punchline of a million jokes. He didn't get a talk show from this, and no hard news programs AFTER this. After this, his career tanked. No doubt. He wasn't taken seriously by ANY serious news agency. So perhaps, in using your low brow style of speaking, you should get YOUR head out of YOUR ass. Low brow comments have effect on me. Its low brow types like you who damage your own credibility.

  • You're an uneducated moron...plain and simple. His career skyrocketed after this... there is no debate to be had. Sure, he was the punchline of jokes, but disaster or not... this program was the highest rated syndicated special in history. He did investigative reporting on 20/20 as well. The fact that you called it an "episode" proves you don't know what you're talking about. His show did not begin until a year after this show. Next time do some research before opening your ignorant mouth.

  • Yeah, really...and "no serious news agency" wanted him? That would explain his Rivera Live show on CNBC in the mid-90s, and his current Fox News gig doing Geraldo @ Large, now heading into its 5th year.

  • It's time for "geraldo" I mean Jerry rivera to stop saying he is Hispanic....he is jewish! He is a fraud!

  • Comment removed

  • He's half rican.

  • really???

  • Yep! His mother is jewish and he had a bar mitzvah. He has been lying all these years about his heritage among many other things.

  • No, he's half-PR and half-Jewish...he switched from "Gerry" to his proper name of "Geraldo" when he started @ WABC in the 70s b/c the news director wanted to emphasize his ethnicity.

  • Geraldo was the first person ever to punk someone.

  • he's a badass

  • he should have stayed on 60 minutes!

  • oops's... I meant 20/20!

  • i hate this guy but hes got a decent sense of humor about himself i must say.

  • fred sucks

  • lmfao he jsut said tbh fuck u all

  • LMFAO!!!!!!!!

  • He should have just flipped us all off lol

  • Stupid Cock knew what he was doing, ratings ratings ratings. Yeah he should have turned that Tommy Gun towards his head and fired.

  • What happened to the TV Special Geraldo did "Sons Of Scarface, The New Mafia" ?

  • god the background music makes this fucking unwatchable

  • The only thing found in the vault was Geraldo's career, but it was old and at that point useless.

  • It was the beginning of his career, what the fuck are you talking about, he has ridden that wave for 20 years now

  • Rofl.

  • There was nothing in Al Capone's vault, but it wasn't Geraldo's fault.

  • Yeah this video opened Geraldo's vault. lol

  • Geraldo was a genius and this was television GOLD.

  • Comment removed

  • lol, isn't he on Faux News?

  • LOL! and hold a LIVE broadcast while he does it!

  • why would you build your own show over something you havent even researched?he just set himself up for failure.

  • Why do people blame Geraldo for nothing being in the vault?

  • Well duh...no self respecting Italian would leave anything behind. Joke on you Gerald.

  • this sucks

  • How embarrassing.

  • hahaha thats what that big nose bastard gets!

  • wow,how pathetic

  • Your an ass!

  • Heraldo was and still is a phoney hoaxer.

  • I like how he brags about the ratings in order to minimize the "fiasco-ness" of the situation.

  • Geraldo, you prententious ass

  • aaahahhah the guy is INsane

  • i wonder wat he did with all his money cos his wife and son didnt get it wen he died they opened up a cafe

  • owned

  • I found a copy of this complete show at a estate show. Very interesting.

  • Their was nothing in Al Capone's Vault but it wasnt Geraldos Fault. W00t I made a song out of these too.

  • Yo snoopie, I heard Homer Simpson say the same rhyme. PEACE!

  • Yeah lol The Barber shop quartet from Homer simpson. I just didn't expect anyone to know :l.

  • Was Geraldo on crack around this time?

  • I love the waaacky music playing in the background.

  • what a loser

  • What's next is he going to open John Gotti's vault

  • hahaha highest rating my ass.. must have been one boring ass night.. geraldo can be such a douche

  • The special made David Hofstede's 04 book "What Were They Thinking?", a look back @ the 100 dumbest moments in TV history...yet it was still the highest-rated syndicated special of all time AND led to his daytime talk show...that's show biz! LOL

And for the record, his name's not Jerry Rivers...his father's surname was Rivera, his given name was Gerald, and he only started using the Spanish pronounciation of his first name to satisfy WABC brass back in the 70s, who wanted him "identifiable".

  • Nothin more than a sweaty Maury Povich on steroids....can't wait to see the Bin Laden's cave special with him and his skirt riding bro

  • haha he is such a loser

  • lol maybe the bottle used to be filled with liquor and the stop sign i dunno for plans

  • if ever that vault contains cash or biggy stuffs where will it go~ like duh~ the reporter looks too greedy so much for the rating~ hes a dumass bullshit hoping that vault save him from paying rent

  • I watched this back then.

    Thanks for posting.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • A old stopsign? Cool-can we see it?

  • Geraldo's a tool.

  • this is just another reason why he works for fox now.

  • also cuz hes gay

  • what does being gay have to do with anything?

  • I take that back.

    But you are a nigger.

  • coming from you, i take that as a compliment.

  • please dont be racist!!!

  • Someone tell me what joke is he reffering to?

  • I don't understand, are you saying you don't like fox. Fox news is the most watched cable news channel in US.

  • well, these are depressing times and people want to escape reality. i'm convinced that fox may be the best channel for comedy after comedy central.

  • (reply to tthriller)

Democrats simply hate Fox News, and tell their followers to do the same. So you'll read a lot of hate comments, especially on YouTube, towards Fox News.

The fact is, liberal media is not at all interesting to viewers. They hardly have any listeners, or watchers; it is lame.

The majority of viewers and listeners enjoy watching conservative media, simply because they have much more interesting topics, viewpoints, and information to give.

  • I can't believe that liberals and conservatives actually believe that the ENTERTAINMENT news organization they view has no bias. The joke is on us the viewer. FOX, CNN, MSNBC are a business that plays with the viewers emotions and in the mean time advertise products. What would you do if you had a News agency in your disposal? Report the news or make a profit?

  • he's a freak

  • dont worry geraldo we have david blaine now.
