  • I used to play this all the time on the SNES back in the 90s. This is nostalgia at its finest.

  • Never made it past this level.

  • I love how all the music from DKC2 reflect the environment you're currently in. Something games today cannot clone.

  • @nintendude57 I know how you feel. Microsoft should've bought Retro Studios instead of Nintendo!

  • Bets VGM ever! It's so beauty, fun and warm. * - *

  • Hahahaha, I love how all the monkeys in theses DK games used to have such a "fresh prince of Bel-Air" attitutde to them. Know what I mean? its like they were hip black guys. And now Nintendo is like, "holy shit we don't want to make it look like these monkeys are n***ers" and they changed their personality completely. Now DK is like a mix between a goofy clown and a bad-ass jungle beast. He used to be a black man on with a tie. So, I guess Nintendo had to kid-iffy everything. It makes me sad

  • @KostaVV lol! That's a good point. How bout that monkey rap? Though I would say Dixie is more like a blonde haired rock n roll white chick than a black person, lol

  • where the hell is RARE?? i know its xbox exclusive...but what have they done recently??? yeah.. NOTHING!! nintendo would have SUCCEEDED soooo much if they were the ones that had bought RARE!

  • this is such a sick ass beat....I think I might sample this

  • This music makes me feel like I'm in a stomach with all of those bubbling noises

  • @XZeroGenetic Please don't.

  • I LOVE THIS TRACK :D can't believe it has a dislike :/

  • Someone fell in the lava at the time I posted this.

Damn, I want to paint the Hot Head Hop background on my bedroom walls now! :D

  • Fuuuuu rare...why you shiz the bed hard>>?!?!?

this is one of my favorite tracks in the game...just instant epic hiphop like jam and then mellows out to a beautiful piano solo...followed by the harmonica solo... ohhhhh my

  • K. Rool dislkes this video

  • @krismagix So did Klubba apparently.

  • @krismagix He made two accounts just to be a dick.

  • U guys do know that Busta Rhymes sampled a small portion of this on "put your hands where my eyes can see" ... classic

  • Seriously, when I hear this, you get the feeling of being where the characters are in the game. One thing games can't seem to do today, man I had a great childhood.

  • One of the greatest games ever...if not the greatest ever.

  • @xXMethodKidXx new DKC game sucked big time

  • @xXMethodKidXx new DKC game sucked big time

  • @pescalante2 Are you talking about Returns? I freaking loved it,

  • @ChickenConPolloHD yeah haha, I only liked about two levels, I hated the stupid idea of blowing at flowers and other stuff and the idiotic ground pound too, those things just slowed down the game and you needed to do them if you wanted to find everything as opposed to the other DKCs in which you could only jump, roll to attack enemies and throw the other kong around. To be honest I hated the slow pace of the game, the only levels I liked were the flying barrel ones...

  • @pescalante2 Actually now that you point that out, your right. I did not like the blowing of the leafs and the ground pounding. That did slow it down, also I hated how you could play as diddy unless it was 2 Player. Oh well, I stilll iked it, heres hoping for a 3DS Version of Donkey Kong Country.

  • thumbs up if you cant listen to this without thinking about the original Spyro XD

  • Kind of sounds like The Cure.

  • The lava levels were not that difficult but I used to lose a lot of lives there as all I did was listening to this wonderful soundtrack and so I couldn't concentrate on the game ...

  • oh no, someone disliked this, and a fanboy got mad, then another fanboy got mad at the shamer, and now I am shaming everyone for getting so worked up over opinions over a video game song.

  • @xXMethodKidXx

Steven Jobs has passed away, and Microsoft is bigger than Apple. All the iDevices are not as good as Windows simulated envioronments of pure nolstalgiac bliss.

  • Almost everyone had rich childhoods.

  • Rare went from making awesome games on the SNES and N64 to now making Kinect games for the XBOX360. FUCK YOU MICROSOFT!

  • For my shame, I played DKC2 just yesterday for my first time ever.

I have to say, that I LOVE the first game and Retruns on Wii but the first hour was incredible!

I do really hope, that Retro is going to make a new DKC Game and hired Mr. Wise as composer for the game.

  • I really, really loved Donkey Kong Country when i was smaller, never got to play the second one until about a year ago. Goes to prove how good and timeless these games are because i absolutely loved every minute of it. The music and atmosphere are as enchanting as the first one and for some reason i felt like a child again whilst playing it...bringing back some memories that i didn't even have linked to the game (because i'd never played it before).

  • For the dipshit that dislikes this, go stick your dick in a blender and kill yourself after.

  • @KnightElfMohawk1989

    >Oh no! Someone doesn't like the same music as I do! How dare he!

    please grow the fuck up.

  • @DanAran162

    >Oh no! Someone voicing a retarded opinion over the internet! I MUST PUBLICLY SHAME THEM!

    'Kay.

  • wow, i can't express what i feel when i hear this song

  • Comment removed

  • no dislikes thats some respect right there <3

  • @ChristinaJazmyn Aww you jinxed it... :(

  • @ChristinaJazmyn Sadly, one fell in the lava.

  • @ChristinaJazmyn cuz of ur comment there 2 dislike now congrats </3

  • 1:12 Nostalgia...

  • @TetsuyaBrazil hell yeah!!!!! :D!!!!!!!

  • WHat the fuck happened to Rare? THey releast Grabbed By The GHoulies which bombed and I dont think they did anything after that

  • @TheDruggedGamer I wish I could dismiss their recent history too :(

  • @Czarewich Bit of research reveals that Micro$oft have pretty much turned them into a Kinnect shovelware company. Sad times :(

  • @TheDruggedGamer I heard Viva Pinata was actually really fun, and I enjoyed the hell out of Nuts & Bolts myself.

  • (Alternating riding hot air balloons, and bouncing off crocodile heads while I listen to this)

  • play this at my funeral

    please mum please

i remember playin this game wen i was only seven it came out

1996 where have you gone too :(

the music sucks now the tele sucks everythin sucks and it hasnt even been

    20 years yet

  • I can't praise David enough, he created such timeless tracks from the snes era. nuff said!

  • If Nintendo and Retro Studios make Donkey Kong Country Returns 2, they WILL have this BGM in it. Trust me on this one.

  • @SPKB81 yeah! and have diddy and dixie and actually have them swim this time. definetly all the music in donkey kong country 2 is iconic and must be in the next game if they make it :)

  • Love the bubbly noises in this thing

  • i tear up in my imagination when i hear the part at 1:13.

  • @BenjaminTapia1 I tear up for real. Man, back when Rareware was around and awesome.. *sighs*, those were the days. I miss my SNES .w.

  • @OverObsessiveNekoBoy exactly how i feel!! why why!? hahaha, :(. but you know what my hopes went up a little because at E3 convention they showed a type of gameboy that plays super nintendo games. it's going to be released this year. look up on google it's called the SUPABOY and they have some videos of this on youtube. super nintendo!!!

  • does anyone recall the barrels coming at you, knocking something off you?

  • Esta cancion me recuerda cuando con mis primos jugabamos DKC2 los sabados por la noche y cada vez que jugaba, siempre perdia en la etapa de los Globos aeroestaticos y la de Animal Antics xD

  • This is a real game

  • 0 dislikes... Dam right.

  • I love you DAVID WISE!!!!!

  • it too bad they don't have this soundtrack in the lava stage in the returns verison :(

  • @biliahthesegagamer Maybe in the sequel ;)

  • @Ze33roX That would be terrible, DKCR might have been a decent game, but the soundtrack was disgraceful because it didn't have David Wise reprising his role as composer. That alone is enough to keep me from ever playing the game itself, and if they do make a sequel following Returns, if Wise isn't returning in that one, that would be a travesty, an absolutely disgusting choice if they won't try to request his composing skill for the second time.

  • @qazxsw13 I know, David Wise is Godlike ♥ and i hope he returns in the sequel, but I think Retro did a very good job on the soundtrack (i mean the new ones, not the remixes). Songs like Weighty Way, Furious Fire, Mine Menace, the final boss music, etc, all of them are amazing :) Sorry for the bad english.

  • @Ze33roX If English is not your first language, this post shows very little indication of it, as it's better than many who post for whom English actually is their first language.

  • @LyfSukz Lol thanks!

  • @Ze33roX

    bad english?! somebody's lying

  • @qazxsw13 I love video game music as much as anyone else, but what you just posted here was abhorrently absurd. Basically on the level of graphics whoring. But maybe worse.

  • @LyfSukz Sorry, but remixes don't cut it for me, I won't insult the game itself, because I'm sure it's great. But when it comes to a legendary soundtrack, one as glorious as this, I hold the belief that only a composer of such magnitude should return to reprise his role as the composer, especially after trying to revive an equally legendary series. I know it's rather irrational, but hey. David Wise, great composer among many.

  • @qazxsw13 I know how you feel. It's not easy to let go of a great past.

Take the new Mortal Kombat for example. It's got some good tracks, but most of them aren't terribly noticeable. Thankfully, there's an option to play the Klassic Music for any of the old stages. If they at least had that option in more games, people would still enjoy the games and their soundtracks.

  • @biliahthesegagamer well it IS called Donkey Kong Country Returns, not Donkey Kong Country 2 Returns

  • I hope Nintendo will do a DKC Returns 2 for the Wii!

  • @DemoScener or better... in the WiiU! :D

  • bring this type of music back! david wise we will miss you

  • They don't make good gaming music like this anymore.. at least now that rare is gone.

  • In the first lava level in the game,if you not ''kill'' Squitter in the cartoon, when you win the area, will have the Kongs a golden boom box and a golden guitar! (Jump when you leave Squitter)

  • Go ahead think o being relaxed.i dare you

  • Glorious takes me back...

  • I love the fuzzy sound in the background, it´s like this was recorded in a volcano. It sounds great musically, too. And while I´m at it I might as well point out that the name rocks. Hot-head bop. How awesome isn´t that?

  • @terraflyer23 yeah think so too :) !!!!

  • remind anyone else of 0:50 in this vide (no spam I promise)

    watch?v=emvyRB9G1YM&feature=related

from George A Romero's Dawn of the dead?

(replace the "watch?" part on in your address area at top of screen with this one)

  • Whe the harmonica starts, the song gets such a sad vibe to it.

  • 1:10-1:46. Enough said. I wish David Wise would follow me around and compose my life.

  • this tune is SICK

  • this sounds alot like that water cave in ragnarok online

  • @shizeninho

it's quite likely the other way around my friend.

  • @DKsranan lol yeah

  • Levels this played on:

    Hot-Head Hop

    Red-Hot Ride

    Fiery Furnace

  • no dislikes

  • Ahh back when game themes weren't a technoish heavy rock kind of tone. I absolutely love this theme, it's just a rush to hear it. I think I'm going to go play this game again to rehear all the music.

  • @Xjustin3009X same

  • This game has some of the most immersive songs I've ever heard in video games.

  • 0 Crocs Watched this Video

  • now if only david wise would join with retro studios....

  • The whole series have awesome music, but i just love the atmosphere at DKC2

It has some of the best music i have ever heard to this date!

  • This song perfectly captured the sounds and feeling that these lava levels gave you, and at 1:10, it just gives you hope that you can survive this and rescue DK.

Man I miss the days that music gave you that level of feeling.

  • no dislikes.... phenomenal

  • Where can i get the song??? makin a soundpack for crossfire and this is perfect for escape mode.

  • hey there will be a new DKC on wii, yehey its been years really

  • Where is thy former glory, Rareware? The games thou makest with Microsoft don't suck, but they lack that classic quality that the games you made with Nintendo possessed. Now such games as Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Country 2 are but remnants of thy lost splendor. Alas, the days of thy partnership with Nintendo are only a memory. . .

  • @TheFlarbar

Blame Nintendo, not Rare. If I remember correctly, it was Nintendo who gave Rare the boot because they weren't cranking out games quickly enough or something. Don't quote me on that, though.

  • "the Stamper brothers sold their 51% interest in Rare to Microsoft; following this, Nintendo sold their 49% stake in the company as well"

Too bad, I don't think they were going to reclaim their former glory though.. the key members that made the developer so great left..

  • This song is really good for the game.

In fact, this game has really good music ^^

  • THE BEST MUSIC!

  • Comment removed

  • jaaammmin' BABY!

  • Whom else is greatful with the fact that they were around to listen to these tunes as a kid or teen. Unforgetable, its almost ludicrous.

  • @ChristianVonSTIG Indeed.

  • I loved watching my sister play these games when I was little. It was so much fun.

The music always fit the backround, you didn't really notice it, but it really added to the playing experience once you think about it.

I'm kind of glad they didn't make a donkey kong 4 or 5.. they left it alone at a good point.

  • @Expl0rati0n so true,now they kill games,releasin like 10 sequels

  • David Wise is a musical genius, his songs are unique in the way that they can be just as relaxing as they can be energetic. It's really a shame that he left Rare.

  • yeah a real shame indeed

  • @AlfredoAVA Well, then again, maybe not. I mean, Rare seem to be losing it to me, very fast. I think it'd be great to see David Wise use his skills on a different franchise. It's just a shame he's not working on Donkey Kong Country Returns.

  • @AlfredoAVA I would have to agree. This is the kind of music that would keep you focused, but calm and collected at the same time. Not that it helps all that much in the game for me ^^; Though I wish there were more games like this, or at least music.

  • @AlfredoAVA tell me about it, his stuff was amazing

  • @AlfredoAVA Indeed. and another shame was rare leaving nintendo

  • @hadomaru Rare didn't leave Nintendo, Microsoft bought Rare and all of it's affiliated projects EXCLUDING those owned by Nintendo which as you know was Donkey Kong. The upcoming game Diddy Kong Racing 2 by Rare was cancelled because of this new deal. Nothing we could do but watch an era of greatness fall apart because profits before what's best for the video game community. That's the world we live in.

  • @AlfredoAVA But now his talent won't be put to waste.

  • @AlfredoAVA Doesn't matter if he left rare now. Because rare now is just puke compared to what they were back in their golden age. True story.

But David Wise will always compose amazing songs. I can feel that in my heart my dear sir. I promise.

  • @AlfredoAVA Maybe, we will see him again in Retro Studio... :)

  • this song is badass it kinda sounds like one of the streets of rage songs=D

  • Environmental sounds and rhythm, DAVID WISE RULES. And making this such an epic and somewhat sad song... Beautiful. DKC series hold the best music of the SNES series I think. At the moment I like them more than Mario themes :)

  • Mario had some damn good music too...but for some reason(at least for me), it didn't evoke the same kind of emotional impact that the DKC series does...

  • wow, the language of this song is so hard to play.

    so nostalgic

  • this and the mine one are my favorite songs from DKC history

  • great theme

  • true story!
