...This video was from the testing phase of this type of aircraft. The pilot came in too fast and too high. I believe it's an MD80. Filmed sometime in the late 70's or early 80's. There were no passengers on board.

It's the new design, instead of blowing up a parachute for breaking, you just get rid of your tail, and convert your plane to a tail dragger, acting as an efficient breaking system. The benefit of this design is, less weight being carried by inertia, throghout the breaking distance, plus you don't have to fly the same plane twice, or you might not even have to/be able to fly at all, well maybe to heaven...:))
