Hey that looks great. I found the same one you have on hayneedle for $99 with free shipping. I ordered it yesterday, they shipped it today and the est delivery date is in 2 days. I have trouble every year starting my seeds and can't find a good spot in my yard for a permanent greenhouse so this looks perfect to put up for a couple months in the spring then put it away. Thanks
Awww, you're very welcome. Yours is a great channel. I think you're a shining example of just what can be accomplished towards self-sufficiency in a suburban setting, which is where a lot of folks find themselves. And if it weren't for you, my husband would probably still be dragging his feet about butchering our rabbits. He needed the "refresher" course your video(s) provided. So, THANK YOU!
Hi, new subscriber after watching Michigansnowpony. Watched the rabbit dressing..cringed alot but I know it has to be done. I use to help my dad when I was a kid do that w/squirrels but the killing part I never could watch as I love animals as pets too much. I am a meat eater & made myself watch it just in case I ever had to do it, or had to pass on the knowledge of how-to to my kids when times are bad. I always felt like that was "men's work" but starving crosses the gender lines, right? lol
@kokonutbaby1 Thanks for watching. Butchering animals is not for everyone and that is fine. I did a video of my wife butchering and cleaning a rabbit. I asked her to try it once and she said it was easier than she thought it would be. Not that is gonna start doing it every time but she got the basic idea of how the process works.
I watched your video on the garlic yesterday and did what you did with the papertowel. I was amazed that it really did grow roots and a shoot overnight. How many days did you leave it in the papertowel before you planted it and how deep did you plant it in the soil. Thank you. PS I too found out about you from Michigan pony. LOL. Also, I enjoyed your rabbit video on how to slaughter and skin it. Great videos.
@Emsworker68 I planted them in the pots after about 2 days. I planted them so the the shoots were just below the soil by about 1/4 inch. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the other videos.
@MrMrtiki I had not really thought about it. Since i plan on leaving the door open so it doesnt get to hot inside I am not going to worry about it right now. If I ever cut some vents in it with screens I will need to do something about the floor. Thanks for bringing it up.
I got one of these from Tek Supply - mine was $250 and the plastic on your $100 seems better (mine also has 3 shelf levels but none at the back.
My plastic tore all to heck and back,so I've had to improvise - But, since our Spring has been very cold, I had to heat it up at night so I used a relatively safe oil radiator heater - but now that it has warmed up, during the day, I put an occilating fan in there to move the air around. It also helps reduce diseases.
For the floor, I just dumped some sand, compacted it a littttle bit by using a 2x4 and a mallet. I took some mismatch 12x12 tiles down, used my 2x4 and rubber mallet to smack them down.... rubbed some more sand between the tiles... a few rocks and bricks around the perimeter. The wind blew off and tore my plastic cover so it stood open for a month - just the frame and my floor of tiles and sand (which held good sun heat into the dark hours - floor stay put!
I bought a greenhouse like that from Lowe's Home Improvement. It has four zippered windows that are screened and two doors. I want to put a vent in the upper section because the gh can over heat easily. I just haven't decided how to put a vent in that would not damage it and still looks good. My house is 6x8? for 200. It didn't have the shelves, just metal frame and cover. I do suggest you stay away from the "popup" models, metal frames are stronger.
@violetwsmommy I have only had it over this 2010-11 winter, so I can't say how long it will last. Putting a vent in the top back above the door will make it more useful. It is nice in there during the winter even though my winters are mild.
@hriding14 Nothing yet. I am still trying to find a heat lamp or something that has a thermostat on it. Will try to do an update today on the rabbits and chickens. Had car troubles and building a chciken tractor hasnt left me a lot of time for making videos.
Ive been thinking about buying one of those for a while now. But thought it wouldnt work. Maybe over the summer i will get one and extend my sesaon in the fall.
I got the samething from ebay. only $60.
