Stock was 300 but I have done a few things to it. I have outrun 325 HP 6.0L Powerstrokes from 75-100. They would run with me for just a tad and then I would ease off. This Cummins here smoked me from here to kingdom come. And you say it's slower than stock ones. You sir, are an idiot.

  • @yz250stroker I've seen em need a bigger clutch, yeah. But itll handle it. As far as it spinning the tires, I've witnessed it do it, but not at 70. This truck does not have a locked/LSD axle. It's open. At 60 MPH a few times it would break them loose for a second or 2 once the turbo spooled up, but they would hook back up quick.

  • @yz250stroker I know it's not. LSD just kicks both tires in when one tire breaks loose. Locked pulls both all the time. I put a slash in between to say it doesnt have either LSD or locked. This truck has open differential.

  • Thanks, it wierd, runs great but every once in a while he will crank over and not start. then after waiting it fires up and runs great. had it into a truck service dealer and the truck computor would not communicate with there computor. Said fule pump is ok, sounds like it is loosing prime for some reason

I runs great but times i stop go into a store and come out 10 minutes later or so and it cranks over but will not start. after awhile it will start if i leave the key on? not showing any codes. checking to see if u can give any suggestions. fuel pump ?

  • @Krisamsportworks Sounds like it could be your fuel pump, or it could be in the fuel system. Diesels have to have alot of pressure to fire up. It sounds like yours is just taking a long time to build it up. It could also be a fuel leak. That's about all I can think of for now.

  • @mustangramzy It was sold back in September, 2009 due to what I thought was a blown turbo and my Dad here didn't have the money to replace a turbo. It made a hissing sound one day and then lost all of it's power the next day after that. Turns out I believe it was a catalytic converter that stopped up. Now I'm kicking myself in the ass for not knowing it was something much less serious.

  • @linkthemain Oh yeah, man. My Dad had a 2003 6.0L Powerstroke and it was constantly having injector problems and even blew the top-side of the motor. I've heard that they fixed that problem in later years. I still don't trust those motors though.

  • That's because of the "Spartan 310" tune. It increases the horsepower by 310. Just about any V8 diesel will make more horsepower than a inline 6. However, a inline 6 will stomp a V8 for pulling power. Put a 6.4L Spartan 310 tuned diesel against a Smarty tuned Cummins' and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt the 6.4L will outrun it. Now, put a 10,000lbs trailer on the 6.4L and on a Cummins', the Cummins' will smear it.

  • thats where it gets expensive u need to convert your rearend over to limited slip = both tires pulling but there is a kit they can put in your same rearend to make it limited slip then just change gears at the same time

  • Yeah, I miss them too. Now they have a Raptor that's out, but it's held back alot from weight. But my truck will run with Hemi's if not our-run them with 3:73's. I'm not sure, but I bet it would be a challenge for both. I think the Dodge's come from factory with 3:73's.

  • Yeah. The 5.4 is a very pottential engine without high ass gear ratio. They have 3:55's gear ratio from the factory that makes them go from 0-60 in a ass hurting 9.8 seconds. With 3:73's, you can knock it down to 7.6. I'm about to do that to my F-150.

  • The new 6.4 Powerstroke has commonrail fuel injection which is better for power. They also have alot shorter of piston-rod stroke which gives them more horsepower to get up and go with. The cummins has longer rod stroke that makes more torque, which makes them a bit slower than the V8's. But I have a gutless 2007 5.4 Triton V8 F-150 now, so screw it, lol. I'll never get power out of that thing.

    Dude, the stock class is tuned trucks. What dictates "stock" is that all the hardware is stock. Are you retarded? I'm sorry but there is nothing you could do to that dodge in this video electronically to make it keep up with a duramax tuned with EFI Live, and an intake and exhaust and lift pump. 525 HP to the rear wheels is common for these trucks with that exact setup. Not a WHOPING 430 HP. LOL!

I know that Duramax's are fast, I can't lie about that, but they're not as fast as Cummins. If you want to see the video, I'll try and find it and send it to you.

    You seem to forget, EFI Live is not a boxed tuner, It is a tool that gives the individual the ability to tune the truck to his or her desires. This takes skill, which not every tuner has. Just because a duramax is tuned with EFI Live does not mean its tuned for speed.

    Tell you what... You find a stock "smarty" tuned dodge, and I will provide a stock duramax tuned by a skilled EFI Live tuner that will hand that dodge its ass every time. Have a nice day!

But I think the duramax's have it for speed, cummins will dominate for torque, but I think duramax will beat for horsepower.

  • This truck had 227,000 miles on it when that happened. It can happen on any diesel. My Dad had no such thing as any of EGT monitor or anything. When you have EGT temperatures going up as high as 1,600* or higher at times, you'll seize the bearings in the turbo. It doesn't matter if it's a Duramax or not. The engine was fine.

  • Barely made it to 103 from the speedo....slow at that. Superchips doesn't come close to 550 hp. Maybe 450 -470-at the flywheel. Try the Smarty or get a Duramax and EFI Live....a real truck lol
